Most villians: serve evil because of power, fear, hatred, etc. Ishamael: served evil because of MATH
@dragonsorcerer1615

Do you know what that means? Ishamael joined Satan because he calculated that mankind will have to fight forever in order to keep the Dark One in his prison, but the Dark One himself will have to win only once. Also, Ishamael led the drilling of the Bore, which he did because of math. That means that the universe was almost wiped out due to MATH!! THAT SUBJECT IS EVIL!!!!!!!!!

@@chicodepuertorico1450 I think I read this book series almost a decade ago. Such good memories. A very beautiful and intricately created world. Sadly, the author had reduced the series to something of a gossip mag towards the end. I remember that at around book 10-ish still there was no sign of the final battle I think. Frankly speaking, if the same author had continued the series , it would have had a very lame ending. Fortunately, one of my favourite authors of all time took up the mantle of finishing this book , and damn did he do a fine job. I understand that much of the plan was previously chalked up, but I am sure if it were upto the original author , the series would have continued till book 20-30 maybe. Speaking of Sanderson , the sheer change that he brought about to the series i.e, the last books , is just mind-blowing . It was like waiting for a hundred years to see a lotus bloom , and in the end the bloom was so beautiful that it makes the long wait all the more worthwhile. If you have time , always check out his other books. Although kindof predictable but the books are amazing. The very peak of Western e-fantasy literature in my opinion.

I'm rusty on my lore, but there are moments where you follow Lews Therin during the beforetimes, or just visions that one or more of the main characters have where they experience the world as it was, complete with what basically amount to laser weapons and flying cars. It definitely touches on what a high technology + high magic society might be like, but only in very brief glimpses and I seem to recall it being done pretty tastefully.

@@nich479 wow I read that and then went to the part about Glass Columns. If you survive entering the columns, you come out with a dragon tattoo. A character named Rand exits the columns with two. So. A character named Rand, enters into a "mystical realm" (memory bank of the ancestors), confronts a dragon (the truth about the ancestors) and comes out with 2 dragon tattoos. Is this an Iron Fist cameo? True, he only has one dragon tattoo, but he comes out with 2 iron fists. Nice

I read Eye of the World 13 years ago the summer after I graduated high school. Between work, marriage, kids, and buying a farm-I honestly didn’t remember much of it. I recently decided to give the Amazon show a watch-and I absolutely loved it! I haven’t felt this way about a fantasy series in a long time. I totally understand how fans of the books would be upset at the changes and direction the show went. But as someone who basically hasn’t read the books, it’s really good. If you go into it with zero expectations-it’s phenomenal. The same can’t be said about the Rings of Power. My wife never got into LotR, but was really into Game of Thrones. She wanted to give RoP a chance-but even she could see that it was just very sterile. The Wheel of Time show looks and feels like a lot of love was put in it. And the cast are absolutely amazing. I hope book fans can look back on it someday and see it as its own version of the story and world.

I haven't read the books, but I'm loving the Amazon show. So I just watched this video (spoiler-free for the series, but to get lots of backstory for the world itself). Then I just re-watched the opening narration of Ep 1 of the Amazon show. It's amazing how Moiraine's narration sums up this whole video beautifully in 30 seconds--from a very female Aes Sedai point of view ("Men who were born with great power thought they could cage darkness itself--the arrogance.") Hearing that line now that I have the whole story sent chills up my spine! Watching the Ep 1 opening again AFTER seeing this video was so cool! Thank you, Daniel!

I want to know what's going on with the guy following the main group in that desert city, who the devil guy is and that amazing flashback to the prior turn of the wheel, and anything with the aes sedai. My favorite characters are probably Morgaine and her ward. All the wards are fascinating. And the Amberlin Seat (I'm sure I'm spelling all of this wrong). I've read this series so many times and it is/and will always be my comfort read. Love the homely Two Rivers, love the hard Aiel, love the manipulating Aes Sedai, so many great moments and such an extensive world to fall into. I do wish the New Spring series had been completed, however. If you haven't already, I highly recommend the audiobooks!

I would like to see a video of your note taking process in these larger series. I am starting the wheel of time, and very quickly realized that by the time I get to the end I may have forgot important details from the beginning. A good note taking video would benefit me and probably many other readers that are a little intimidated by these longer stories. Love your content!

I've always wondered what would happen if the Dark One ever did succeed and remade the world in his image. Would he then become the Creator and the original Creator the new Dark One? Is it possible that the Dark One has won multiple times, just swapping roles with the Creator in the universes longest running game

There are so many great series to choose from for history and lore. You already mentioned Mistborn, Malazan, and Game of Thrones, all great. I think the Inheritance Cycle history and lore would be a fairly straight forward and fun one. Dune is also something I'd like to hear you talk about some day. Lastly, I know you don't really like KKC, but it's got some really unique and mysterious lore. Anyway, looking forward to all of it!

@Lorkisen

@@workhard.nerdharder.3518 I do that as well depending on how my brain is functioning. I sometimes have a hard time focusing, and listening along while reading allows me to read when I'd otherwise be left in a catatonic state. I think you're going to grow tired of the audiobooks soon. The problem is with the text, not with the narrators. There's a section in the books were some characters become really pissy, the narrators have performed that part, which will infuriate you.

The Tam Al’Thor Chronicles would have been a worthy prequel series. Perhaps even one written by a secondary writer in the same world, under the supervision of RJ and based on a brief outline - much in the way that the final three books were.
@DanzMcAbra

Think that was one of the planned spinoffs, if I recall correctly. Fairly sure Harriet said we weren't ever going to get those because there weren't enough notes, which is a pity. But then again, I don't think there could ever have been enough content written for this universe. If RJ had lived a thousand years it would only mean there were ten thousand other stories we wanted to get from him. Goddam master, I miss him.
