Zak Starkey is the best fit for the Who drummer, as his vibrational energy, intuition and sense of timing is brilliant. Zak has brought vitality and a unique set of skills to the band. He is very authentic and true to the original sound. Congratulations on the recent nuptials.Everyone keep healthy and happy.
Pete has said he is actually BETTER than Moonie for playing his music, in all ways. I know, I know, its sacrilege, but it is true. IMHO, Pete and Roger should make him an official member of The Who. He deserves it more than any of the several replacement players over the years. He deserves an equal share for playing Who music at top level for over a decade now.
@@Arturo-sm1tb I don't know how many times I've seen him play with the Who, but yeah. He's amazing, and as of yet they don't need to worry about him. He doesn't have the the mental issues some of the British Invasion kids had due to being born during or shortly after WWII. I think he learned a lot of things from Ringo and Moonie.
I'm 75 years Yong now, spent the whole summer of ´'66 was a member and hangout in the Marquee club saw them on stage, still got autographs from both Keith and John. Love their music.
I watched the whole Tommy concert at RAH on TV last night for the first time... Zak is one hell of a drummer. Keith is a legend and I've always thought he was the best ever drummer, but Zak absolutely nailed the entire set... so much energy to play the entire set which is virtually one continuous drum solo. Excellent stuff.
Brilliant musician. You have to be to play with Pete and Roger, but Zak understands his place perfectly. It's the impossible drum stool really, but Zak transcends that and fulfils his role to the T. He's busy enough to satisfy our Keith-seeking ears, but individual enough to have us exasperated at his own unique talent. How lucky us Who fans have been to have him for nearly 30 years now!
This guy was amazing at ubs arena NY other night.. I'll never forget him.. The whole band was awesome..zac and Peter townshends brother ARE the closest to original WHO possible. God bless them and Roger and Peter are unbelievable even at 78-77 years of age ...it was a expierience I'm so glad I got to enjoy
Zak is a very well accomolished drummer. He works for his own money.Alot of star's children never really goes forvthe Brass Ring,Well Zak grabbed it.Great work ,Mate.
Zak fits in better with what The Who is than Moon did. Moon laid the groundwork, but Zak is able to work with Pete better. Absence now of chemical enhancement could be a factor.
IT IS CALLED OPEN HANDED DRUMMING. IF YOU PLAY THE BASS DRUM WITH YOUR LEFT FOOT AND THE HIGH-HAT WITH THE RIGHT FOOT THEN THERE IS NO NEED FOR A REMOTE CABLE, I SAY THIS BECAUSE THIS IS HOW I DO IT. I AM STIL LEADING WITH MY RIGHT HAND LIKE HE IS DOING.
Is Zak a right-handed drummer or a left-handed drummer? I can't tell from this kit. Seems to have the hihat on his right side but I have seen have the hihat on his left on other tours.
Was trying to figure this out myself. He's keeping time with his right and favours the right kick drum so definitely playing right handed. I'd guess the hi hat is on a hydraulic system with a left side pedal hence appears to be on the wrong side. He does lead some fills and flams with his left so might be a bit cross-handed like Ringo. Overall a right handed drummer though.
Roger started using the shield to protect his hearing around late 2009 on his Use it or Lose it tour. I saw The Who in Aus around March and there was no shield then in Oct in LA it was there for Rogers solo tour. It has been there since from what I can tell.
God that kit sounds awful... I'll stick with woodstock or live at leeds... all that electronic shite drains any dynamics out of it what moony was a master off
