1982, sophomore in high school... Was one of the coolest new songs I'd ever heard. Genius buildup, night time atmosphere, and funky as hell!! Last great song the band put out.

I was in the 10th grade when this album came out. My friend had a Caprice Classic with bench seats in the front and back which meant we could fit about 8 people in that car. We were allowed to leave the school grounds for lunch. I remember hearing this song for the first time in that car on our lunch break. We all shut up and turned it up and got our minds blown! I still turn this one up. It's written in the rules somewhere that this song must be played on full blast! I am extremely happy with your reaction to this one guys. You felt just like I do every time I hear it. Right on!

I LOVE the way the intro builds and builds over three minutes, until Pete come in with the vocals! Though, in truth, Entwistle gets such a wonderful grove going with the base, I could listen to it with so much joy, even if the intro had continued for another ten minutes! I love the reaction vids, guys! Keep it up!

I've never been a fan of The Who, but always really liked this song. I love how they left the mistakes in there. Nobody does that anymore. Everything is so polished and autotuned to perfection today, it doesn't have any human feel.

This is a brilliant song. There's a promo video on RU-vid from back in the day where The Who perform Eminence Front on stage in rehearsals. It shows each member arrive getting out of limos and stuff in their new 80s threads as the intro plays. They look like grade A rock stars, which they were: the godfathers of punk and therefore the grandgodfathers of new wave. I remember in an interview with a famous musician who made it big in the mid/late seventies recall the first time he saw a proper rock star in the flesh and it was Roger Daltrey getting out of a Corvette. This guy said he was just the coolest person he'd ever seen and spurred him on to make it big. I recommend reacting to New Song, which is the first track on the Who Are You album. It's kind of a forgotten number, but it's heavy, funky, loud, very well produced and like an explosion going off in the right place. Probably my favourite Who song. Thanks!

One the best--and really few--Who songs with Townsend on lead vocals. Also, the drummer was Kenney Jones, who replaced the late Keith Moon. One of my fave Who songs, especially of the latter day albums. Thanks bros!

When I 1st heard Eminence Front by The Who was an Episode of Miami Vice called Killshot their on Don Johnson aka Sonny Crockett's boat making a 2 key drug deal. Crockett's cop buddy's r undercover waiting on Crockett's word, then when he says the word then the cops start shooting n the fireworks start to happen. Then Crockett starts his fast boat then rides away from his cop buddies as they chase him n the drug dealer in their boat as they hide n try to make a set up meeting with a drug cartel. Then he drop's off the dealer in the water n takes off on his boat. I also heard this song on a AWA American Wrestling Association promo intro. This would be a great intro song for wrestling or boxing. U need to a reaction to Won't get fooled again n Roger Daltrey's After The Fire. Ty, checkout that Miami Vice episode of Killshot n listen to the music. Thanks again to put good music.

Got to see The Who for the first time on this tour, an amazing EVENT, had to be capitalized, with memories I fortunately carry to this day. Even though there was no Keith Moon, the energy in the building was at a fever pitch, at that point it was their final show in the USA. In 1982. So you never know. Glad I got to see them again later. Much thanks for the re-boot of the memories.

The Who and Queen are two bands that had no two songs alike. I was in awe when I got a new Who album in the old days and it was totally different from the one before and still kicked ass! Those 4 guys , individually gifted , creating one of the best bands ever. i love you guy's reactions, a great reflection on the music.

"Eminence" is the status given to people of high position such as rock stars, politicians, priests, princes and princesses, famous poeple. It's just a front -- a put on. -- a fiction everybody participates in because they want someone "cool" above them as it seems to elevate themselves somehow as well. "Oh you're so fickin great man -- yeah! (that means so am I right?)"

"Eminence" is high power or fame, so an "Eminence Front" is the illusion of such, as Pete Townshend indicates with the line, "It's a put-on." He said the song is about "the absurdity of drug-fueled grandiosity," possibly related to the Ativan detox program he went through shortly before writing the song.

The 2nd of 2 albums with Kenney Jones from The Faces as the drummer. He's the one hitting th snare with such power and precision. Pete Townshend on vocals he was almost completely deaf by this point.

I’ve only seen them 5 times in concert 🖤 Spray flies, Speed boat glides… This song was featured in an episode of Miami Vice in the 80s. That episode also had Iggy Pop’s song “ Real wild child”. That’s a great song too. That show had some great music 🖤
