Here are a couple of tips that make assembly slightly easier ru-vid.comUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . 1) One person can assemble, but if you have a buddy to help, it will make it go faster - especially steps 1-3 and 8 (the legs aren't heavy but can be difficult to hold while screwing things in). Step 8, 1st part will take some time unless you have two more hands OR are really lucky. 2) Use a socket wrench! 3) Step 7, 3rd part - the flame carry over tube has an open side, MAKE SURE THE OPEN SIDE IS FACING THE FRONT. If it's facing the back, the tube won't work. 4) Step 10, 3rd part - if you don't have small hands (I don't, they're gigantic) getting the nut on is really difficult (but not impossible). It took me about 4 hours to assemble, but I took a "union break" every 60-90 minutes and ate a quick lunch. Also, I'm really OCD so I took my time, looked at the instructions carefully, and cleaned up as I went.
Removed a section in my camper where the entertainment area is and installed. Works great. Instead of propane furnace heat, I can use this ru-vid.comUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo to heat the camper as long as it's hooked up to shore power. Only thing I do not like is there does not seem to be a thermostat. I'm presuming it has a built-in one so it does not overheat. Really like all the other color options it has to offer.
I'm a huge Napoleon fan who owns a PRO 500. Phenomenal grill with the best warranty in the business. Have owned my grill for over 5 years and just recently replaced the burners free of charge courtesy of Napoleon's warranty. Their customer service is second to none. Very informative video.
Your youtube videos for the most part are terrific. The information that you've provided made it easy for me to choose the Prestige Pro 500, which has turned out to be exactly what I needed. Thanks.
Enjoyed watching your video! I bought my husband a Prestige 500 two years ago and we love it. One of my favourite feature is the Sizzle zone, I love how hot it gets and how quickly it renders the fat of steaks, which gives an awesome BBQ taste. We will always buy Napoleon brand because they make great products, the warranty is incredible and the company is Canadian like me.
I started to watch your videos awhile ago when deciding what grill to buy. I do a lot of smoking and had gone from a masterbuilt electric (lived in an apartment so only thing I could use) to buying a house and going with a Traeger. Missed that quick cooking ability with a gas grill. Started to show my wife these videos and thought she would think I was nuts to spend the money on one of these. Even offered to get one of those big box store ones that last 3 years but she said let’s save and get a good one. This weekend we just got our prestige 500. It is awesome! How quick it heats and the sear station. The wife already wants to try the duck recipe I’m the cookbook that comes with it. Also for those that may think it looks small the 500 is quite a good size you just have a tall host presenting them.
Great videos. I recently went through the decision process on a 4 burner grill, and initially was attracted to the phantom. After a second look, I decided on the PRO 500. Yes it is more money, however the features were worth it for year around winter BBQ. The lid of the PRO is double layer which will retain heat better, and it has an extra wind baffle. The rotisserie kit is also beefier. It is an awesome grill!
Great video Trevor, your character, and pi-zazzzzz in doing these video's is second to none. Your knowledge, and the way you describe each grill has helped me, and my buddies make our decision on what grill to buy. I'm going with the Prestige Pro 500, and my other grill fanatics are going with the phantom. Again great job!, keep up the awesome work. since you don't have that California outlet, broaden your horizon, and open up a store here in Canada.
Just to clarifty, the prestige doesn't need to be plugged in (unless equipped with rotisserie) but the prestige pro does need to be plugged in because the interior lighting and rotisserie? Basically i am don't want to have to plug in, so would i be ok with a prestige as long as i am not running the rotisserie?
Looking at replacing a Weber genesis II 310. Loved that size and quality, the new webers all feel like spirit quality. Which Napoleon would you recommend in that similar size and price range?
Kind of leaning towards Napoleon right now between the Prestige and Pro. I like the features on the Pro except for plugging it in. Wish they would have left the ignition portion battery operated and if you wanted to use the lights for night cooking then plug it in for the lights. But also have not ruled out the Blaze yet, 32 inch model. I kind of like having the option of the Sear station inside the grill. Looked pretty simple to swap out. More money for Blaze to get same features but still looking for cooking comparisons between the two.
Yeah that is kinda something we had an issue with too! Only the main burners can be lit without power. But that's also a good point, having the sear station inside of the grill could be useful as to compared to the sear station on the outside. We will try to get a Blaze vs Napoleon up on the channel for sure!
I’ve been so back and forth with what grill to buy. I’m coming from a very nice professional looking piece of crap Kitchen Aid made by Nexxgrill I believe. I was initially planning on getting a Weber but you Trevor convinced me to get a Napoleon. And since I’ll have it for so long, even though right now the pro 665 is completely unnecessary I will be buying it anyway because who knows if my situation changes and maybe one day I will need the larger grill. Since I’ll have it for so long and have no plans to replace it for at least 20 years I think it just makes sense. Thank you Trevor for all the helpful videos and explanations of these great grills. I’d be happy to buy the grill from you but I live in New Jersey and it’s just more convenient to go to my local BBQ place and get it pre assembled and delivered.
Thats awesome! I'm glad the videos were able to help you make your choice. We have a new MEGA Napoleon review where we go over most of the Napoleon grills. Thanks for watching.
Good overview of the models, always a good job of going over the features that matter. I went with the Prestige myself. The price difference between that and the Pro, even the Phantom, is just too steep for the difference in bells and whistles. Instead I spent that difference on a bbq gazebo AND a second charcoal kettle bbq for improved quality of life and greater flexibility while grilling. I then spent about $50 and 30 minutes on amazon finding some wire racks to fit and better organize the storage cabinet. The cast iron side burner rack does require a bit more maintenance but I consider that a wear item where if I do a poor job maintaining, I will still get some use out of it with the option to upgrade in the future.
Thank you so much! Specially about the prestige 500 versus the pro500, this is exactly where I was hesitant and I think you just made my decision so much easier!
Wow you missed so many features on the Pro 665 like the multi color cascading knob lights and being able select the color you want. The slide out tank holder for ease of change. I just tracked my pro 665 shipment. Cant wait for it to get here. My wife authorized the purchase as a birthday gift. I was her idea to begin with. I am so grateful for her. I'm already looking at video's on how to cook using the features. It'll be 20 degrees outside I'm gonna be on the grill.
Thank you so much for the video. I have been confused on the differences for awhile. I especially appreciate the explanation of the big boy. I have Kamado Big Joe 3 and don’t always want to fire that thing up to cook a few items. I have a dedicated natural gas line just for a new grill. Napoleon is where I’m leaning. The 665 is on the list, just didn’t know if I want the Prestige or Pro. It may be the Pro.
Excellent video. Do you think they will add anything in the next couple of months? In New York is cold right now and probably I should wait to march or April. Thanks
Hi, thanks for your videos. The cast stainless on the phantom are an upgrade from the regular 500, but are they better than the thicker stainless on the pro500? Also, does the rotisserie motor from the phantom runs from the same battery pack? Thanks
As we try to finalize our decision and in re-watching this video a question came up: if we lose power, what aspects of the PRO 500 might not/will not work. I realize the rotisserie & lights will not work, but anything else? I guess a simpler question might be, is there any form of battery backup? Thanks!!
Great video! Smart idea trying to simplify the decision process for folks… Just received my phantom 500 last week. Have used it about 5 times so far. It’s been awesome!
Looking at this right now You provided a lot of info - too bad the big boy 820 series does not come in black enamel with cast iron and the drumsticks hanger
Hello, does the enamel finish hold up better than the stainless steel? Im really looking at these models for the searing station. You sell several brands. Is this searing station the best or can you recommend a brand with a better infrared burner? Thank you.
As always, a great video review! A question, if using the larger Napoleon models (665 or 825), do you know how much faster we might go through a standard size propane tank? Wish we had access to a natural gas line but none in our community. Lastly, do you have any long-term usage info on the 'slide-out' propane tray on the 500 Pro model - does it work well or get stuck with dirt, etc over time? Thank you!!
Can you please compare cooking grid, steel/porcelain, cast iron, cast aluminum vs stainless…I personally looove the cast iron one but I end up buying a new grill because they rust…is this new cast aluminum better then stainless ?
THESE GIRLS ARE MUCH CHEAPER IN CANADA THAN THEY ARE IN THE U.S.A. BECAUSE OF THE IMPORT TAX AMERICANS HAVE TO PAY. UP HERE IN CANADA THE PRESTIGE PRO 665 IS $ 4,120 CDN DOLLARS INCLUDING THE COVER ,WHICH IS $3,100 IN US DOLLARS. ABOUT 20% CHEAPER THAN THE US PRICE OF $3,700 US WITH NO COVER.
Thanks for these napoleon break down vids! I see costco has the lex series which seem like a decent deal. Would they be a step below even the rogue series? As in "napoleon" but not really lol? I am pretty sold on a P500rsib
Great Video, just got my nat gas Pro 825 from Embers last week quick delivery and a phenomenal sales and support staff!! The grill is awesome, all of the grilling power you will ever need.
The prestige 500 is under $1,500 there?! Damn!! Here in Germany the prestige 500 is 1,999€! Which is way over $2000 US dollars. How much do you guys take for shipping to Germany?
I love the pros but is it just me that is annoyed by the ascetics of the smoker drawer. It looks like a control nob but looks like it’s broken because it has no lights!?
I thought Napoleon barbecues were made at their plant near Barrie, Ontario. WRONG! A friend just informed me that when he got his Napoleon barbecue home and read a sticker on the box just before he tossed the box, his jaw dropped when he saw that it read: Engineered In Canada, Made in China.
