Nrw subscriber here Paul well done on the chub fishing front! May I ask which rod you use for your chub fishing please, the ones with the long white tips, and the rods you choose for your barbel fishing with 4 to 6 oz leads. Look forward to viewing more of your work soon. Tight lines mate

Hi Jay. Thanks for watching. Check out the FreeSpirit rods if your budget stretches to it (£130-£150) as they are lovely and come in a range of test curves that cover both Chub and Barbel. Personally I mostly use a 1.5 tc rod with a 3oz glass quiver for my chub fishing. If not Freespirit I'd say Daiwa Powermesh rods are worth a look and may be less expensive (£100-£120 if you shop around). For Barbel fishing in water that requires 4-6oz of lead to hold bottom I would say that you need a 2lb tc minimum. I normally use a 2lb tc just because it covers most of my Barbel fishing and use a 2.25lb tc for heavily flooded or big rivers. My favourite Barbel rods are Free Spirit Barbel Tamers. They come with a long white tip and an Avon tip and you can easily buy replacement or additional quiver tips to add more options but I also use the much cheaper Korum 2lb tc Barbel rods and I have to say that I think they are excellent for the money (£50-£60). Rods are pretty personal though and what works for me and my fishing may not be so good for you.
