The problem with American journalism is that honest journalists don't get access to most politicians. The Democratic party and, probably to a much lesser extent, the Republican party are good at shutting the door on journalists they don't like. This is why the news is so biased and the media so worthless and sensationalized.

Please look into the army colonel who found illegals allegedly working for a power company spying on him and his family and had shoot one of them. Ukraine is a big deal because its in Europe and we don't want central and western Europe rearming and becoming belligerent again. We can't forgive Cuba for breaking a bunch of international laws unless we want to make such laws invalid. This is the main reason why its easy for countries to join the likes of Iran and North Korea but difficult for them to regain their standing with respect to the rest of the world. This is the main flaw in the international order and why problems are happening now.
It definitely won't be in support of Landing Operations; because they suck at Amphibious Landings. Seriously, it's just embarrassing to watch and listen to them try. Given the current Political Situation in the US, it only furthers the goal of destabilizing the situation by drawing our attention to the Caribbean while that "missing" Army Group moves into place for its Offensive. It isn't uncommon for large scale exercises involving Corps and Army sized elements to occur in the Northern Section of Russia, but it is odd for them to have remained so silent while doing so, and to do so in the Western region. Best guess they are conducting training in preparation for deployment to Ukraine to allow the current units to rotate out and bring in a new Command with different TTPs in hopes of breaking the stalemate.
I think Russia's short term goal is to establish what conventional warfare with modern technology looks like. I think their long-term goal will be to use nuclear blackmail against non-nuclear states outside of NATO. I'm guessing once the current conflict stabilizes they'll resort to using strategic weapons against Kyiv to try to finish the war quickly. Little does Russia know, America knows this.
