This is the most helpful video I have seen a long time! Thank you! I tried the Sennheiser MKE400 but for some reason it did not communicate with my ZVE10. So, I sent it back in exchange for this one. I just hope it likes my voice and sound! Thank you!

Great video. I think the last time the outdoor audio test was done with the Sony mic w/Windmuff should've been the Rode Wireless Go without the Windmuff, right after the segment with that mic _with_ the Windmuff. Sorry if someone pointed that out before (I'm assuming that at least one of the 15K "viewers" actually wanted the video ;-).

The mix mode echo was a very useful result to know about. Because interviews happen close enough often enough where that could be a legit issue.

Thanks, this is such a great video. Could you make a video about detailed setting explanation for this wireless microphone? For example, there are digital, mix, mono, etc options, when to use on what cameras or in what situations? I just got my Sony a7iv, going to buy this microphone, I think I just put it on digital?

Thats funny I just recently watched a video about the rode wireless go2 . I have a sony A7III that until now i only used for photography. So this seems easier to work with than the rode especially when starting out. Thanks josh for the great video.

So if you have it on the mix setting you can tur the on off switch on the transmitter off when you get close so you don't have that doubled effect. It's good when the person filming you is talking too & you want that person heard as well.

The ECM-B1M? It works really well, but I personally didn't like the sound of my own voice. I almost always use the Rode Videomic Pro+ for an on camera shotgun. It handles the wind way better and I like how my voice sounds.

Loved the video. I am not 100% sure if this is accurate as to why the Sony has a higher noise floor but I have the Sony UWP-D26 Camera-Mount Wireless kit and I purchased the Sony SMAD connector so I can use it wirelessly with the multi interface shoe. Some other users have noticed too that specifically on the A7siii and alpha series bodies that using these wirelessly with the multi interface shoe somehow creates a little higher noise floor and that’s not the case when you plug it into the mic jack. However, the results are different when using an FX6 or FX9 but I myself don’t have those to test.

That is super interesting. The noise floor was definitely noticeably louder on the FX3 and A74. I don't have an FX6 or FX9 to test it on either.

Yup. Use the analog cable and turn down in camera gain.

Hi Josh, thank you very much for this comparison. The ECM sounds very good. I use it with the ZV1 and it sounds a lot of hiss, did you have the same issue, I hear your audio clean, is there any way to mitigate the hiss in the recording?

Hi! I own a Sony A6000. It doesn't have a 3.5mm jack input but does have the hotshoe multi interface. I Just bought a Rode VideoMic Pro+ and it doesn't connect because of no 3.5mm jack on the camera. This thing looks great and I'm curious if it's double the fun for me because it seems I can also plug in my shotgun Rode mic in that receiver?? Am I wrong or is that correct?

Tried to use this mic for stereo recordings. Everything was mono. No stereo no matter the external mic or input.

No, you can only plug one microphone into the transmitter.

Hey videographer here. If your going to get the rode wireless 2, DONT. I’ve been through 2 pairs already and each one ends up scratching bad. I can’t find a reason yet. For sure getting the Sony ones

White noise is literally all over the place with Sony mics. I tried a few of them, and it's always about the sound quality. I love the setup with no cables, but their quality is complete crap. This is why probably nobody heard about them, not just the name.

There's a reason we haven't heard from it. The audio quality is not good! Most importantly, simple design features like having the on-camera receiver turn on and off automatically when the camera is turned on and off or goes to sleep is a serious omission. You still have to pay attention to the receiver separately from the camera, that completely makes the hotshoe benefits limited. I can't believe Sony designers and engineers are so shortsighted!
