You know a game is a master piece when people say " I wish I could replay this game for the first time " or " I envy people who never played this game ".
I’ve only just started the game freaking stuck in this one town cuz it’s all main storyline missions… but it’s like a side story that ties into the main I think. Butttt I wana slay some monsters bruh! lol
To me, The Witcher 3 is what Lord of the Rings is to films. A project made with passion and care. It succeeds in building a believable fantasy world and is pretty faithful to the source material. I can watch LOTR over and over again. I can play the Witcher 3 over and over again.
@@reesespieces8173I think that goes to RDR2, but trust me, you won’t find a bigger Witcher fan than me, however RDR2 is far more realistic, and to this day is the most “next gen” feeling game, where is Witcher 3 is much more “gameified” which is probably more fun for most people, RDR2 is borderline a cowboy simulator…
I played Witcher 3 for the first time last year, and it was unlike anything I've played before, even compared to RDR2. It's a truly fantastic RPG. I got so captivated by the side quests that I took a break from searching for Ciri. The side quests had compelling stories, and I liked how they influenced the main plot (like the Bloody Baron quest etc.) I still don't know how to play Gwent tho 😂
That's an easy game too play read the rule book lol the highest number wins at the end of each round and there is only two rounds, you get multiplier cards that can double or triple your score, spy cards that go to your opponents field but brings back cards from your graveyard back onto your side of the field. Weather cards are continuous effects that reduce both you and your opponents points based on the rows that the weather cards effect the only way too be immune too the effect is to not play in the rows that are effected by the weather cards, or the sunny weather card that negates the effects of the weather cards and removes them from play. Also your leader card gives you added battle abilities.
@@skolcole i don't know man, i still think pazaak (from the Kotor games) is the best mini game in all gaming... sure you don't have fancy pics, is basically numbers and colors but the rules are simple and it's magic is in the simplicity, the one who gets 20 points first (or close) win the match in a total of 3 matches, also you can play the game anytime you want when in the ship in Kotor 2.
I’ve always appreciated how despite being a Witcher/super human and the main character, Geralt isn’t the savior of the world or does he ever really get treated like a hero. Geralt is a monster hunter and viewed as a freak. He just raised the girl who ends up saving the world from the white frost and has god like powers. Meanwhile he enjoys traveling around and being on the hunt.
I'll never get bored of playing this game annually during the winter months in a very narrative-focused style ('Geralt-like' decisions; Story and Sword! or at most Blood and Broken Bones! diff. which allows for using a lore-friendly sword combat based build and gear without the need of abusing any OP mechanics that were maybe cool during the 1st ng+ run; most icons on screen toggled off; logical quest order from a narrative perspective). No video game experience compares to this in my opinion, it's like playing yourself through a masterful film series with so, so much to rejoice in, especially the soundtrack.
It’s fucking wild this game is almost a decade old now. I remember when it released mostly because it was the same month I graduated High School. Like a fool I didn’t pick it up till the complete edition released a few years later and I got it for a steal. It’s just wild it’s been that long already.
I couldn’t agree more with all the praise on this comment section. I’d like to add that this soundtrack is simply amazing. Not just the context of the music but the way it’s applied and weaves in and weaves out so well that you don’t even realize it’s doing it, bravo music dudes
I wonder how many people have noticed that Isle of Mists and the hut is a joke about Snow White and the seven dwarfs? I haven't seen many people talking about that fact
i have around 250 hours on this masterpiece and to be honest I would love to play this game again for the first time..thank you for bringing back that game to my mind
I shed a tear watching this video. The last time I felt this way was the 1st time I played Witcher 3. You have explained the Witcher 3 world in a way that makes one re-live the world once again. I realized several things that unconciously immersed me but didn't know actually what it was until I watched this video. What was revealed in this video is mind blowing. Tye Skellige soundtrack takes me to cloud nine. If i could choose the way i die, i would want it to be listening to Skellige soundtrack as i transit to the other side. I wish I could hit the subscribe button like a million times. You have really made my day. Thumbs up bro
Wow, that comment means so much to me. I'm glad this video made you appreciate the game a lot more! This game is my favorite of all time and there's so much lore and details that make it so immersive and replayable. I appreicate your amazing comment. Have a beautiful day!
@@TheHiddenOne690 You said you played it 3 times and couldn't trigger the empress ending. You really enjoyed it in pure form without checking any online guides. Damn, I'll give anything to enjoy it this way one more time
Yep, any game from CDPR is my favorite. The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk..the story telling, the world building, the side quests, the characters.. It's 10/10 and that's why I love these games. Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to get the empress ending. I will replay it again in the future and i'll make different choices this time! @@anjorinabdullaheniola9289
Dude, I've been playing it since 2018, and yes, the same playthrough. I'm taking my sweet slow time with it cause i know once it's done I'll feel hollow
I am glad i born in the era where i played 2 best games of the century Witcher 3 and Red dead redemption 2 both are the edge of gaming 90% of top games are not even 50% of these 2
The music, the combat, the story, the characters the side quests, the weather effects, just everything it made me replay this game 37 times going for 40 then im taking a break :D the solid 130 hours every time make the game unique and interesting every single time i play it in a differend way or the same way no matter. Love the game to death my favorite of all time.
37 times? Wow! How many hours have you clocked in then? ;) I am considering starting my 4th playthrough soon, try for a heavy armor build. And I still haven't completed Blood and Wine, so I still have some unexplored content left :)
@@torbjrnvrebekk3178 Well i started in 2018 pretty late actually after the game came out. I played a cracked version meaning it doesnt count the playing hours bcs its not GOG nor steam. But you can do the math i need like 120 to 150 hours to complete everything in the game. Multiplied by 37 bcs thats the classic version the last 3 times im playing the next gen version and im at 450 hours and conting.
The Witcher 3 is the only single player game I have ever put 500++ hours into. The Witcher 3 is the second only game which was so good that all other games which came after felt bad. It took until Red Dead 2 and Kingdom Come before I managed to enjoy a giant stroy driven open world game again. (The first game that destroyed other games for me was Cod Black Ops 1. It was so good that I never quite managed to enjoy any other shooters again. Even in the Cod franchise. It has exclusivly occupied my fps gaming all the way since it was launched up until today)
This game gets a yearly playthrough from me. This time I added a couple mods to it including hoods, wolf medallion glowing eyes, auto hide weapons when hoods equipped, griffin armor redesign, active medallion, cheap dye everywhere etc. Using hoods is honestly such a great addition. Feel like I can’t go back now. Something that should have been there at the start. Edit: I’ve played through this game now 8 times. I’ve never chosen Triss once lol.
You've probs heard this already but if you take the history of the games and books into account, the Triss vs. Yen dilemma becomes more nuanced. What we see in W3 of Triss is her redemption arc for her past misdeeds so we see the better aspects of her. Also Yen actually becomes a lot more agreeable after the battle at Kaer Morhen. Her maternal concerns about Ciri exacerbates her sassiness and ruthlessness in earlier parts of the game. And if Geralt ends up with Yen after the finale, we see a glimpse of a much more relaxed and positive dynamic with her and Geralt once you finish Blood & Wine, hinting at a happy future together. Defs personal preference, but one isn't necessarily better than the other if the whole context is considered.
Also, I don't really get why some people seem to dislike the combat. I personally love the combat and know that others enjoy it too. The fast movement feels fluid and 'free' and it's super fun to zip around the battlefield. It feels like a nice blend of Arkham and Souls-like combat. I personally hope the company retains this style of combat in their future Witcher games.
this game had such emotional impact on me i felt bad over bad outcome and immediately replay it to have better. NO OTHER game had such immpact, no other man..😮
Triss may not get as much dialogue or screen time in the wild hunt, but you have to consider the fact that she was the focus in the other games, and this is literally the first appearance yen has in the whole witcher trilogy. But if you were to play witcher 2 you'd know that triss found a brainwashed geralt, who had just lost his daughter and beloved yen, and instead of helping him, triss decided to pretend ciri didn't exist and to tell geralt that she herself was the sorceress that he loved before his memory wipe. She fucking manipulated the shit out of him. And she even owns up to it shortly after encountering her in wild hunt. She says something like " be careful, you wouldn't want someone to take advantage of you... I did".
One of the best decisions in my lofe was NOT passing Witcher III until now. I reached level 20 on my PS4 and stopped. And so now I can enjoy my FIRST pass of this game in Next-Gen edition on my 4090, with better-than-real-life level of graphics. Thanks my Polish brothers for this masterpiece.
@@deadvatniks idk if they fixed efficiency, but it was said that 4090 Ti could give max 40 fps right after the next gen. They patched it several times but I wasn t sure if 60 fps on full ultra is aviable even today ( I mean full uktra with ray tracing)
@@LessbetterJoe I only played Next-Gen like 4hrs lol. I have full ultra with ray tracing but I have DLSS frame generation and DLSS anti-aliasing enabled (not sure BTW if its the same thing as resolution upscaling). This gives me stable 100+ FPS. That said, I've only been to Novigrad and a few fights.
Up until I played this game I was mainly a Shooter player, but this game definitely solidified my unbridled love for amazing and compelling story telling. This is the game that transitioned me from shooters and onto other amazing videogames I was missing out on.
Glad I'm not the only one. I've done two full playthroughs. Each around 150hrs total. I'll get a 3rd in eventually on NextGen once all the NextGen mods drop. Without a doubt the greatest game I've ever played and I've played it all since Mario Bros on NES, lol.
It was very difficult for me to move on after I finished this game the first time. Skellige is so amazingly beautiful.. Velen was the scariest for me, scary and exciting. The music, witches of crookback bog, botchling, grave hag, etc and I was so focus & making sure that I was on my guard at all times, ready with Quen, potions, the best blades, armor. I read about mutations, chanting, monsters, I even bought the whole Witcher book set. I was never even like this for my school exams !! It was such a superb feeling, I was fully absorbed in the universe and it's stories. I felt that I was truly Geralt himself. This is one of the greatest RPG ever.
Ciri doesn't die in the bad ending she simply doesn't come back. That is why the tapestry has a bird(swallow) flying away from the tower. Also i don't trust yall if you got the bad ending in your first play through.
I just picked up the game a week ago. First time playing it through since it came out back in high school. It’s crazy how much I forgot and how amazing it felt to play through again. Going for Plat currently
Brilliant and magnificent, with unforgatble story, characters and music (2 fantastic expansions included) .. it's more a piece of art than a game. CDPR did an outstanding job with the execellent next-gen remaster as well. One of the best Ever made rasy ❤🔥
I've never played this game and i dont know anything about it apart from Netflix's show... I hear people saying how great this video game is and that makes me want to try it!
If I have one criticism of the Witcher 3, it’s that its atmosphere and tone peaks early with Velen. Which is the region you can tell is a pure labor of love for Polish developer CD Projekt Red. Velen is Poland as a mythological fantasy land. Forever caught between two warring and oppressive great powers. It is so wonderfully depressingly Slavic. Novigrad and the Skellige Isles are wonderful fantasy RPG settings. But don’t have quite the same unique weight as Velen.
No no the "bad ending" is sad but it is soooooo good. Narratively speaking, it is the best, most riveting, thought provoking and emotional ending. It fits the melancholy norm of the rest of the game better than the other endings do. Most quests end sadly, it only makes sense that Geralt and Ciri wouldn't wrap-up any happier. Its the objectively "best" ending. It's not my favorite because I love the characters and can't stomach seeing them crumble and die but that ending shows the highest level of artistic ability from the writers. Its perfect. As sad as it is its the only ending where you can actually finish the Crones for good which is a great bit of catharsis within the sadness
I finally beat it a few weeks ago since first playing it in 2017, and have been playing NG+ for the first time. It really is a masterpiece of a game. I just wish they'd include official NG++.
I want to correct you on something, friend. For a PC owner the Next Gen update offered nothing in the way of graphical improvements. For example, Ray tracing was available via a mod three years before the update came out with two major lighting upgrades and a variety of texture packs, including 4K textures all released before CDPR decided to ram the PC owners up the arse like a horse while fawning over the console players with all that salty goodness. The Witcher 3 is the GOAT, but the Next Gen version was a betrayal of PC owners because it offered us nothing we didn't already have save for a single, solitary, and not very interesting mission.
Well... I am from Poland so I knew what is The Witcher very well. We had that tv show in 2002. It wasn't great but I think that it is closer to the original than Netflix show. Then there were games like W1 and I was totally ignoring it. I was playing at that time Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and Prince of Persia: The sands of time. And then.... There was The Witcher 3 and I was curious. And you know what? Instead of Playing W3, I have started from the beginning, from The Witcher 1. And this game is absolutely my top 5 games! The characters and stories are absolutely fantastic. I am so happy that I have started from the very beginning. I understand that this game is very outdated but I can't wait for The Witcher remake. You will love this game if *CDPR* will make it properly. Oh, and after finishing W 1,2,3 I have read all of the books too. They are very good. Also Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is really good story driven gwent game (ok, sometimes it is frustrating cause it is rally hard on highest difficulty).
Kaer Morhen is modeled on the Tatra Mountains (mountains on the border of Poland and Slovakia). Each location in The Witcher 3 is modeled on a different European region, so they look different and have a different atmosphere.
After 3 years of no gaming, I just started this game for the 3rd time. I love this game so much. I will keep playing it in different fighting setups each time. So much to do!!!
You really SHOULD play the first game. Forget this nonsense of "not holding up to today's standards". The game is a classic and you would climatize to the different style of gameplay in no time. Don't give up on it.
More than just a game. It's crazy that I literally cannot imagine anything surpassing TW3 as my favorite of all time... I could go on for days talking about this game, but instead, I'll just say this, I played this game so much, that even after I hit level 100, and platinum, and did every quest and crafted every piece of witcher armor and mutagens, collected all Gwent cards, I still continued to play the game because simply riding horse around the world and observing the suroundings is enough, the atmosphere and world building is just thatg good.
I think kaehr morhen is one of the best regions in the game. As soon as you walk out on that balcony (if you know, you know), you realise it is the most beautyfull place in games you've ever seen. I admit I didn't think much of Kaehr Mohren (please don;t make me spell it again), untill I really delved deep into it. It turns out there is so much hidden places, so much ancient stories and pure witchers lore it was nothing short of fascinating to get to know all what... this region... has to offer. Don;t forget one of the most memorable parts of the main game take place there - the beginning, familliarising with your fellow witchers, drinking with your best friends (one of the funniest parts of the game), fighting Wild Hunt, getting close with Ciri, Avallah, burying the best side character in TW lore and more. This region, despite small, has so much to offer, densly packed, but if you deliberately do not search for it, you'll never find it, and in some cases, you need to search reaaaaly deep.
------- I have never played this game before, despite all my friends and my brother telling me I should. So, finally - I decided to try it a week ago and suffice to say, I'm hooked! it's everything I want in a game - LOVE the open world and all the side missions too! Just so well done!
Finished this recently. It is game you can enjoy even in small pieces giving you month or so to Finnish the game. Much more like this than cyberpunk. I played on quite easy difficulty. I don't seek challenge in game like although I love dark souls games.
Tip for any first players loot every single person you kill for there weapons n armour n keep stacking n saving them in your chest so when your in blood and wine you can sell it all for a shit tone of money so when you go into new game plus you won’t have to worry about money n good armour
Its been a while, but i think you get Ciri to be an Empress by taking her to see her father and letting them discuss just before the finale quests of the game. But that is if you did all the things that trigger the good ending
Finished it 12 times just to get every outcome/reward in every single quest, and every time I missed something, I play it, when I see it while scrolling I play it, when I hear it from someone I play it
everything about the game is simply amazing...the story, the atmosphere, the emotional journey...everyone can have their favorite game (mine is GTA SA) but the Witcher 3 is simply goat-ed
This game is so awesome, i remember being at kaer morhen for a quest and needed to repair me weapons, so i fast traveled to novigrad for a blacksmith and ended up in a quest where i got an op sword
You like Triss more, sure. But what crack where you smoking while writing "This stands in contrast to Yennefer, who is working for malevolent king and refuses to actually use her powers to search for Ciri due to seems like unfounded excuses"? Did we play the same game? I have over 1000 hours in this game, and the moment I heard this line, I had to pause it, and watch it again to make sure I heard it right. Yennefer, who literally risks her life, by trying to track Ciri with magic, and possibly getting found by the wild hunt (as shs literally does at the beginning of the game) refuses to search for Ciri due some excuses? He isn't even working for emperor Emhyr for status or money. It's only because it's about Ciri, that she agreed to all of this. In the polish dub, the first time Yen meets Ciri, she literally calls her "my daugther." Even if you don't count books for some reason, Yen was literally ready to die for both, Geralt and Ciri. Sorry, but Yen does everything she can and more to find Ciri. She even resorted to necromancy and stealing the Mask of Uroboros, making enemies out of many people of Skellige.
@@limanskipark021 my comment wasn't really about who is better. I was just pointing out how wrong the author of this video is about Yennefer. It just seems like he didn't even really try to understand her character.
Witcher 3, elden ring and baldurs gate 3 are the greatest games ever made. They are a perfect example of how to do narrative RPGs, not drawn out walking simulators like TLOS or GoW
I was extremely excited to play this game being a fan of RDR2 and GOT so I downloaded a trial period and deleted it an hour later. I think I was overwhelmed with the magic wheel and everything they threw at me all at once where other games slowly build up your abilities in bite size chunks. I really wanted to like this game and maybe I need to give it another chance.
For me it absolutely is lightning in a bottle. Even its own sequels won’t be quite as good. The characters, the quests, the looting, the tone, the writing, the music… perfection. It’s the Lord of the Rings of video games, and I feel so privileged to have been the first wave of gamers to play it. It’s the best game I’ve ever played.
A few years ago a friend of me kept bugging me that i needed to play this game because i would love it. After he almost forced me to play it i finally tried it just to make him stop annoying me. It is safe to say he knew exactly what make me tick!!!! Novigrad is the most impressive ingame city i ever seen!
I've recently started my millionth playthrough of this game. It is incredible how much more "next-gen" it is than many of the next-gen titles coming out now (cough-skullandbones-cough)...definitely probably the best game ever made. Let's just hope CDPR don't nose-dive with the next Witcher game (Witcher 4) and the Witcher 1 remake....
This is not a game-This is MASTERPIECE!!! My first platinum. Around 1000 hours(6-7)playtrought. And.... not a minute waste of time!Best game EVER!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Started my 1st proper playthrough on PC a week ago. I have played it a few times over the years but didn't get any further than around 20 hours or so and ended up getting distracted and playing other games, games curse I call it. I have racked up 70 hours in the last few weeks and I am so much more invested this time. I still think the dialogue is a little heavy at times when it doesn't need to be but I have got past it this time and gonna try and do everything.
I'm a huge fan of the Witcher series and you NEED to play Witcher 1. It definitely does not hold up in gameplay but the story is AMAZING and it's definitely a must play, you just have to push through the first few hours.
