My tip:- If you are surrounded by a group of enemies and one or two of them turns out to be an archer or crossbow men, kill them first they usually have low health and are kind of annoying as they do quite a lot of damage.

I'm a 44 year old gaming mom. Recently got obsessed with The Witcher on Netflix so my husband bought me the game. Absolutely LOVING it!

Number one tip for a newbie like me is take your time. This game is goddamn huge, skipping scenes and trying to do just the main quest is not recommended.

THIS is how you provide a guide and tips. No BS small talk taking up time, no lazy form of talking, and actual presentation in an organized fashion. You sir are the only one to get me motivated to starting the game. Every other "video guide" is just too lazy, lacks presentation, and they don't ever sound prepared. The only thing I would change is what you put your ability points into. I think it's smart to specialize in one tree in the beginning, and I recommend the magic tree. The first three abilities to get are signs, which are Axii, Quen, and Yrden. Why? Because these spells help in any situation, while Igni and Aard are basically meant for groups that are easy to kill (and using them by mistake can cause problems around innocent folk). Plus, mutagen matchup with better intensity.

Just started this game yesterday...my mom sat and watched me play for like 3 hours lol

For those who want it chronologically: 1. Duny (Emhyr) was cursed, apparently since birth. (This wasn't actually true, but it's irrelevant.) 2. Duny and Pavetta fell in love. 3. Geralt lifts Duny's curse and asks for child of surprise. Pavetta was pregnant (with Ciri). 4. Geralt initially refuses Ciri, ends up with her again, and decides to take her to Kaer Morhen anyway. He also learns that she is a Source (has Elder Blood or whatever). 5. Yennefer trains and tutors Ciri in magic, to try and harness her power. I think Triss does too. 6. Ciri becomes Yen and Geralt's adopted child. 7. Lots of time passes. 8. Geralt is killed with a pitchfork, Yen resurrects him. 9. Ciri creates special island for them, and goes off into another dimension. 10. Wild Hunt appear and kidnap Yennefer (to lure Ciri out). 11. Geralt joins Hunt in return for Yen's freedom. 12. Later, he somehow escapes, and returns to witchering, with no recollection of Yen or Ciri. 13. Witcher 1 game begins. Witcher 2 happens. Geralt regains memory. Witcher 3 happens.

Thanks. Started playing yesterday. Have boiled your advice down to this: 1. Stick to roads at the beginning 2. Do as many side quests as possible. XP! 3. Map. ?s give ability points. !s give quests. 4. Upgrade light attack, axii (rep) and quen (shield). Mutagens boost corresponding skills. 5. Loot everything. Grab all you can. 6. Bestiary shows enemy weaknesses. 7. Create each bomb/potion once each. Assign them. 8. Save, save, save. Save before any battle. Meditating replenishes health & stocks. 9. Upgrade horse with blinkers and saddle bags. 10. Dismantling at armourer -> crafting items. Sell crafting/alchemy items when you have 10+. 11. Combat mechanics. 1. Parry. 2. Dodge > rolling. 3. Quen. Single targets out from groups.

In addition to your tip #9, sell: 1) weapons to blacksmiths 2) armor to armorers 3) alchemy craft items to alchemists 4) weapon craft items to blacksmiths/armorers 5) miscellaneous to shopkeepers/merchants Over time, you'll get much more money

Just a tip, when you arrive in the Baron's castle, go to the notice board and pick up the race one. Bet 50 crowns for each race (theres 3 and its really easy) and then in total youll get like 300 crowns and some horse equipment.

never lock onto enemies when you're fighting more than one enemy..

Tip #1, spam Quen

I always pay huge amounts of attention to these, but then I realise that I'm not a beginner any more and I learnt these the hard way ;-;

This is one of the most straight forward and well done guides to this game. You don't spoil anything which is great. You tell new players how to not get destroyed. This is all that a Witcher 3 guide should be. Anything else just takes away from the rest of the game because half the fun is exploring and finding out the intricacies on your own. Fantastic job!

Bonus tip: Do the Horse Races in Velen. You get some good money early on as well as some useful rewards.

Tip : Quen blocks every single damage from EVERY ATTACK from EVERY SINGLE MONSTER at least once so when you are about to fight a OP monster just cast Quen, fight and when you're hit, retreat and cast Quen again. Basically, this loop may be long and frustrating but you are sure to defeat any ennemy even in the early game.

“Dismantle your items!” Then there’s me who just sold them all to some merchants

Tip 1: Get the Gourmet Perk as your first perk in the generic skill tree! It saves food and makes you heal so much over 20 minutes instead of 5 seconds after consuming food. Trust me, it breaks the game for the first 20 levels or so.

Some tips for new players: 1. Read the skills' description and try to focus which attack style you want to play and allocate point efficiently to take advantage of mutagen, which will give you significant buff when colors are matched accordingly. 2. You can almost 1 shot every drowner with your crossbow when you are diving. 3. Do not pick up every Velen long sword you come across. They are heavy and selling them too often is annoying. 4. Pay attention to those recipes that herbalists sell. They are useful and are extremely rewarding when used correctly to aid combat. 5. The default keybindings on computer are ridiculous (especially for casting sign with Q, making you basically cannot move left when casting fire stream). Would be extremely useful if your mouse has the 2 extra buttons where you can set sign casting on one and Quen on the other (Quen need to be nerfed btw) 6. Take everything single piece of paper off the board, some will mark places of interest on the map for you. 7. You can run efficiently by holding down shift and press jump when your stamina bar is about to run out, which will refill yout stamina to full during the jumping animation. 8. Adrenaline point speed up your stamina refill rate. 9.Loots in monster nests scale with your level so try to balance between Quests and exploration. Spending an hour to fight a golem just to receive something a bit better than a Velen long sword is definitely not worth it. 10. You can kill Roach (and yourself) by jumping off the collapsed bridge in White Orchard. 11. Spamming space before hitting the ground to minimize fall damage. 12. Be careful when using Dimeritium Bomb. It disables monster's skills as well as your signs. Feel free to add more tips to make new witcher player's life easier :D

Most important tip: Don't charge right in the middle of the pack and think you will crush everything. You gotta dispatch monsters 1 or 2 at a time. Parrying attacks is very important and I find the shield quite effective.

Get the "gourmet" talent as soon as it becomes available. Its a game changer, and will save you a ton of food and meditations.

Tip #2456: See Werewolf, run from werewolf. Come back to finish quest when at least level 14, and his cheap regen ability doesn't matter.

The number one tip should be to keep your swords sharp, if they have turned red on the HUD, they will do way less damage...which is BAD. Buy every repair kit you find. Most important to keep sharp is the sliver sword because they are pretty rare. Repair them every time you find an armorer that can do it and save all your weapon repair kits for emergency field repairs of the SILVER sword. Regular swords are a dime a dozen, keep a couple of the highest damage/least worn ones you find with you so if push comes to shove you can just swap to another one rather than waste a repair kit on it while in the field. It's amazing how many times I see people trying to fight with a damaged weapon. Also, find workbenches and grindstones where you can enhance your weapons and armor (for free!) before you do any new mission or just roaming around.

parry only works if the monster/enemy is near or below your level, if it has a higher level you will be stunned or staggered after parrying the attack. Dodging is the way to go and always pop up quen! nice list btw

Tip #12 If the game is being played on high difficulty, the first upgrade should be gourmet food. It enables the character to regenerate health for 20 min after eating anything.

I just actually started playing this game and fell in love with it instantly. Not skipping any cutscenes coz most of it are interesting and taking all the side quests. Best RPG game I played so far since Skyrim.

You can read books to learn about about beasts before fighting them. I had a fight with a werewolf and I beat it cause I read a book that unlocked that page in my bestiary.

This is my first Witcher game and I didn't know at the time that death march was a difficulty so I clicked it b/c it sounded cool, but after this video I think I can get used to it, prior to this I probably died 20 times to the griffen before I realized its weaknesses lol

I absolutely love the side quests in Witcher 3. They are on par and at times, better than the main quest, although the main story is awesome, too.

An asshole spoiled the entire story to me. It almost made me not play the game, but I did. And I am so glad I did. With all those choices, I had my own story! And the sidequests, oh the sidequests... The gameplay is great. You helped me, thank you!

Know I'm late to the party but oh well. I guess this sorta goes with the side quest part of the vid, but be careful with advancing the main quests, at certain points you will fail certain sidequests if the main quest forces certain NPC's to move. Took me a while to figure out why I was failing sidequests seemingly at random.

Started playing yesterday and I was like "there's just to much shit to learn". This video was exactly what I needed.

I'm so used to games holding your hand through the combat that I'm actually struggling haha. Your character seems way faster at blocking & attacking than mine, my Witcher seems drunk all the time 🍻

Yeah, definitely make doing all monster contracts and side quests in White Orchard your priority. There's not much there to do, it's a small area and it will help immensely. Besides, the Devil By The Well and Brother's Peril missions fail almost immediately after you progress the story outside of White Orchard. Upon starting, look at your Crafting section for Warrior Coat and note the upgrade material necessary. As soon as you get to Velen, head to Crows Perch to have the armor smith craft you the jacket. This can be your main coat for up until Level 11 and 12...I used mine until 15, but mostly because it was the best looking. Also, look for a windmill in White Orchard, there's a house next to it with a hidden basement you can get into for early loot. You can use this to sell or equip. Witcher School gear will be some of the best to use, early on, but post-story you'll find looting Relic gear begins to out power the Witcher gear stuff, beyond level 32. Considering a New Game Plus? Collect as many diagrams and craft as many of those as you can. Once you start a new game plus, you will keep all you have crafted, but diagrams disappear. So craft as many decoctions, oils, potions and weapons/ gear as you can, to kick off your next save with. Essentially, this means to play your first play through as thoroughly as possible and there is not a question mark or exclamation mark left on your map nor remaining contracts/ side quests. Inspect every nook and cranny of every new area you're in and take your time. Be meticulous, in other words. During your next play through, you can do it a lot less thoroughly, and just focus on story and you will still be finding good relic gear, along the way...it's just important to have as much of the best to start your NG+ off with. So that your next play through can be as little of re-farming as possible. You now have a stash, so don't be afraid to fill that up with witcher school gear and relic weapons of every kind. The reason why you are saving and hording what you can, is because When you kick off your NG+ game, you'll find that certain weapons and armor you wielded the last time around, may not be re-usable again until a higher level...so you need others to fall back onto. So if you have gear that is nice, but lower level than what you have now...keep it! It may be your only choice, later. I wish I had kept all my witcher school swords because relics that I had completed my first play through with that were stating I needed to be 65-67 to use again! I had Witcher Wolven gear I couldn't wear until I was 41! Witch made me wish I had saved more of what I had. So I scrapped that save and just kept playing on my main file to accumulate and re-craft/ re-acquire more stuff to throw in stash.

And don't piss the soldiers... I've learned it the hard way...

Thanks for the great video, I've finally started playing this and for once something lives up to it's hype! Something that really helped me in the beginning of the game was the Gourmet (general) ability. This lets food regenerate vitality for 20 minutes. So basically if you eat something every 20 mins (or just before battle) your health will keep on regenerating at 80 or 50 point per second (depends on what you eat). This helped me a lot more than the quen sign.

Another tip - Buy all the maps Merchants sell. They get you Witcher gear which us better than the usual gear and can be upgraded. Great video man! Still playing this masterpiece in 2020. Reached Kaer Moerhen:)

The perk that makes food last 20 hrs is immensely underrated best by far for love level/Beginners .

Heres my tips : Best early skills abilities are : Other : gourmet , allows vitality regen of about 50 per sec for 20 minutes even in combat. Other : cat school techniques : You'll be using light armor for most of the early stages. Axi : to delusion level 3 : very handy later on as it saves a lot of awkward situations and also gives xp Combat : the first 4 in fast attack and strong attack. Some tree trunks are hollow and contain hidden money, they don't show up in witcher senses , you have to walk up to them and press E/ interact. For money : you can repeatedly incinerate pigs in a pig pen in White Orchard. Farming red mutagen : Just outide of Downwarren in Velen there is a hamlet of about 3 or 4 huts that contains a level 14 respawning alghoul that sometimes drops red mutagens. If an enemy human has a shield raised you can't seem to damage use axi on them. Axi can also temporarily stun other creatures. Best prices paid for swords seems to be the armorer in novigrad heirarch square. Best prices paid for alchemy herbs is herbalist heirarch square Best for books / other seems to bookseller shop in heirarch square.

Watched it on Netflix. Just downloaded the game today and played about an hour of it. Kind of helps that I’ve completed the RDRs in that horse riding and looting is similar. But fuck to all the different stuff in the inventory, that will take some getting used to! Thanks for the tips 👍🏼

Just started playing The Witcher on the Nintendo Switch Lite. Loving it so far and being able to play on the go is amazing. Although it requires a ton of focus so you can’t be playing like on a bus or something lol

Still can't believe I'm playing this at consistant 30 fps on my switch whereever I want. It feels so cool being able to stay in bed without even raising your haid and play this masterpiece. The graphical setbacks, lower resolution and fps is a small price to pay for such comfort.

Tip: buy the nilfgardian saddle and saddle bags from the bloody barons quartermaster. I've never filled up my inventory with it and stamina refills faster than you use it at a full gallop. Also just set your autosave for every three minutes. That way if you forget to save your game it's not a problem as you can reload from any of your three last autosaves.

I bought this game almost 2 years ago and watched this video then. But life happened and I wasn't able to play at that time. Finally ready to play now and this video immediately popped into my mind. It made that good an impression! :) Just watched it again and wanted to let you know how much I appreciated this guide. use the aard sign and mix it with the fire so when they freeze(when u upgrade the aard ofc)so when u hit em with fire they die easily,remove the useless stuff from ur inventory,use quen spell all the time in battles I did that when I played the game at the hardest difficulty,trust me its helpful.

Oh and I'm totally freaking lost when it comes to crafting, etc. HELP !!!!! lol
