I’ve read the books a while ago, and the world building and characters are amazing. There are good side stories inside the main storyline. The creatures are fantastic, the politics in it are so goood. The characters feel human and are well written. The games are based on events following what happens in the books and trust me, although you might think “oh, how deep can this get if it’s a game?”, they are story driven and help to fall in love even more with the universe and characters in it. You could see Geralt as the macho man monster killer at first glance, but through the books and games you also get to know him as a very complex character who, for being a “Witcher” that “can’t feel human emotion” can get to be very complex and human himself. I really hope the series starts people on this universe because it has a lot to give! :D
I don't say this a lot but you've a genuine energy about you. It's peaceful, you know. I also recommend starting with the books at least the short story collections.
Yeah, Witcher's books are older than Game of Thrones and have everything which makes Got famous like great war and policy, conspiracies and intrigues, sex and more sex, but also have a lot of deeper themes like racial/social problems, environment and philospohy/religion aspects, destiny and patchwork family relations with pinch of great ironic humor 😉
I love the humor of the Witcher. One thing I tell people when I try to convince them to read the books is "think of a grimdark 'The Princess Bride' or 'Discworld.'"
Read the books as a teenager, when they came out (in Poland). Spent high school writing fan-made witcher stories and discussing it with my friends. Watched polish terrible series and cried, played all the games many times. Definitely gonna watch THAT. Looks so much better than I expected.
I see a lot of people saying how terrible the Polish tv show was and I have to say I am kind of tempted to watch it and see what is all about. Is it really that bad?
@@user-gg7kv9nk5m Quite terrible, especially writing, visual effects (dragon!), acting (although with some notable exceptions - Geralt is fine for the most part)
Бети Георгиева The only good actor in whole fuckin thing is Michael Zebrowski (Geralt) It was kinda cheesy and overall pretty shit, but I watched it because it’s the Witcher.
Re: Watchmen: DC Motion Comics chapters 1-12 are on YT. So are several Witcher audio books. If I watch it, it will be because Henry Cavell is so passionate about the project that it is ridiculous. I'd suggest watching the cast interviews. If I don't it will just be because I don't watch a lot of shows.
Definately gonna watch the show, I hope it's well done. Hopefully there is more to it than all those sword fights. The books are class. I'm more eager to see your next metal reaction though. Lovely stuff
First i played all series then i got the books, but as a hardcore pc gamer Witcher is my most replayed game. Get the books, its an amazing adventure for your mind. :)
I'm a little too ancient to be a gamer, although there's a couple of games from the 90s I still play now and then. So never heard of the game, or the actor, but I probably will watch it, cuz fantasy, cuz magick, cuz battle scenes. I will probably enjoy be a use I have no background or preconceptions about it at all. Thanks for the review! I think you said Chicago....I grew up there...been gone for more years than I lived there though...:)
The world of the Witcher is very complex with rich morally gray characters. The books emphasize this and the games to an extent, but yeah, I think the series will capture that. :)
Day one watch. Played the games, reading the books. The games aside would sell me on it, Witcher 3 being one of my favorite games of all time. The books are a whole different matter but also very.. interesting I guess.
@Prithu do your fucking research ignorant ass. They DREW IN inspiration from the witcher books, have you even seen Game of Thrones? Mentioning the name of the author of some books doesn't make you smart
I've read the books over 10 years ago before the games came out. Then I played the games. It's pretty much as complex as Game of Thrones, especially in the later books. It's far from simplistic or cliche fantasy.
Hey, maybe you could react to "Diablo 4 - Official Announcement Cinematic" :) its pretty cool, i dont think you need to be a gamer to enjoy it. Released 2 days ago, so it's pretty relevant :)
Will watch it having read the books and played the games. I'm so hyped that this is only a week away. I like to direct people to this game trailer which encapsulates Geralt's character and the world in under 3 minutes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c0i88t0Kacs.html
So you turn out to be completely unaware of books...maybe next time inform yourself and not go on with stupid statements like: "wow, this is going to be way more complex..."
