"a celebration throughout oz thats all to do with me" well there was one, about her death. its so sad awww, she was just an innocent girl that was bullied for her green skin
"Someday there"ll be a celebration throughout Oz that's all to do with me". Yes, that's true. But not in the way she meant it. As she says : "True, the wision"s hazy".
Can you really blame Elphaba for feeling this way? She's being very honest to herself when saying this. She just wants to be with the wizard, don't be jealous! :)
When my mum comes into my room telling me to be quiet, and I reply with 'And NOBODY in all of Oz no wizard that there is or was, is ever gunna bring me down!' And she walks away in defeat...BEST, DAY. EVER.
I found this in Loki: Agent of Asgard because he's in the shower and he sings "no all-father's not proud of you...no brother acts ashamed...and all of Asgard will love you, when as a wizard you're acclaimed...[standing in front of the window] held in such high esteem! When people see me they will scream! For half of Asgard's favourite team! The wizard...and...[all-mother appears]...ah." Her reaction? "A most spirited recitation, Loki. You must entertain us at the next feast." And now I'm listening to this and imagining it in a voice similar to Aladdin's and 😆😓😻
if you guys didn't realize it she says the wizard an lie so it sounds better and so she doesn't run out of air. So cool how she tricked all of you guys. She really is magical!
Well, she's green, for one thing. SHe's strong headed and tends to be brash. She a book worm, but tends to be opinionated. It just proves she's awesome.
This is the recording from the original Broadway soundtrack so of course it's good. Also yes it is Idina Menzel singing so again of course it's amazing.
everyone's talking about the "i'm so happy i could melt" part what they don't realize is that elphaba also predicted another thing- a celebration all to do with her.
That moment when you'd forgotten you'd commented on this years ago and you end up at the same video. To update, I am now a favorite among all the managers bc I'm "a girl on whom they can rely".
This play "Wicked" is a beautiful play that has many magnifecent sings like this one. I am training my voice to be like the singer on this video and in the play. I hope one day I will be on broadway singing my heart out and acting! Justw ait one day you'll see i will meet this person i hope. Don't forget everyone follow your dreams and they will follow you
Maybe I'm just reaching here, but I think this number is a foreshadowing (just like classic musicals, they have one foreshadowing song) but, kinda like, in reverse. "If I degreenify you" - actually his green elixir is the reason why she's green. "And all of Oz has to love you when by the wizard you're acclaimed" - she was hated by Oz, because of the Wizard "Someday, there'll be a celebration throughout Oz that's all to do with me!" - Well, a witch hunt happened "I'll stand there with the Wizard!" - she stood AGAINST the Wizard "When people see me, they will scream" - well they scream of fear and anger "For half of Oz's favorite team" - the thing is, it could've been her and Glinda if together they took the Wizard down and lead the Oz, and Elphie being the half of that team.
"And all of Oz has to love you when by the Wizard you're acclaimed" is actually a reference to G(a)linda. She is only considered the "Good" Witch because she is officially approved as an ambassador of the Wizard, whereas the Witch of the East and the Witch of the West were both considered wicked because they weren't endorsed by him. And the celebration that's all to do with her is her funeral. 😣
I know this came first but it really now makes me think of Zelena’s motivations in OUAT. She became green because she was jealous that Rumplestiltskin, practically a wizard, chose Regina to cast the Dark Curse over her and that was basically all she wanted, to be thought great by someone already acclaimed in magic. Got to wonder if the writers partially based her around Elphaba in this.
So good India Menzel has a beautiful voice and Kristen Chenowheth I have met her in real life she signed her christmas cd for me and omg so awesome also I am Christian like her.
Listening to this song and knowing the rest of the plot makes me think too hard about the beginning and the so called 'Making good' because, in fact, they really aren't. And then I remembered. The green elixir. The wizard was the reason Elphaba decided to be, well, wicked and have pretty much everyone hate her but she was already hated at Shiz for her appearance. Which was the way it was because of the wizard. Elphaba is so excited to meet the wizard because she thinks he'll make everyone love her and perhaps even take away her green skin and it's so hard because I know that he'll make everyone hate her and is the very cause of her green skin and she is completely oblivious.
Don't sing this song for an audition. It is a terrible DONT. Don't sing songs that are extremely popular in the musical theater community. More often than not you will be compared to who sang it first.
First hearing it, the song seems pretty normal... Get to the end of the play, fine. But the next time you hear it...... Ooof I actually died the first time afterwards half way through the song I was like OH WAITT, BUT... THAT'S HER DAD?!?! I mean if she wants to then go ahead but
"I'm so happy I could MELT" ma'am...I'm just not gonna comment on this and then "A celebration all throughout Oz that's all to do WITH ME" well do I have news for you
At this moment in the musical she's feeling like the odd man out. And that all she has to do is show her worth. But we know if she does that not EVERYONE is going to accept her or her views. But she thinks that to be "With the Wizard" is to be "WHOLE" in the main stream eyes. This is a powerful statement for the LGBTQ community and the Black community, and Women. This is musical is SOOOOOO important.
I just have to say, as a Gender Queer person, this song has so much relevancy to every minority. Whether it Black people, women, LGBTQ or all of the above. This song is powerful when you view "The Wizard and OZ" as the people you're supposed to impressing to fit into society.
The way Elphaba wanted to be degreenified remind me of how I really wanted to join conversion therapy when I was in high school. Now, that's the only thing I try to avoid most lol
