McNutt is nutty!! Those green glasses aren’t helping you to read the room!! The overall stats do matter and the impact on the team.., but what about the millions more increase in viewership? The millions more advertising revenue? The millions more of younger players wanting to be a Caitlin Clark? the impact and influence that she has on the game is second to none. In fact, Reese’s less than a whisper when it comes to overall impact on the WNBA; her call girl walk & talk are turning off parents who want their little girls to be better. Make America GOOD again. Be a role model! That’s the Rookie of the Year the public wants!
I appreciate your opinion on how there are additional elements to consider for ROTY. I offer that different players are asked to do different things for their respective teams and the stats can be indicative of that. That being said, the video is about how there is more to the WNBA than just Clark/Reese just as there can be more to smaller content creators if one is willing to look deeper. I was watching the college games and got really excited about the basketball and so I followed the rookie class into the WNBA. it’s very disappointing that ESPN and the WNBA cannot capitalize on these relationships and create a marketing campaign that is less divisive in the Publix Eye. It would be great to create a more workable scenario much like they did with magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

But the point of the video is to look beyond Clark and Reese and there are more players to enjoy. Similarly, if you dig into small content creator’s catalogs you may find some things you enjoy. @@BOBBYP1857 As is Reese. Someone will be award ROTY and it will most likely be one of the two. The point of the video is not a ROTY debate, it’s about looking beyond Reese and Clark and enjoying more of the WNBA.
The reason for this particular video wasn’t to say who should win ROTY. It was to get people to at least consider Clark and/or Reese may be their gateway into the WNBA but they aren’t the only ones in the WNBA. Similarly, a small content creator may have a viral video (by their standards) but may have plenty of other content people may enjoy. To see more of either, one has to be willing to look deeper.
