Confrontation at Jordan's house, then the parking lot money exchange. You gotta watch the whole scene, it starts slow and gets funnier and funnier. Jonah Hill is hilarious. Brilliant performances by Hill and DiCaprio.
There are literally people like this though that make everything so complicated at work, during business, when you're just trying to buy something, etc. Sorry, I know this is really late.
😂😂 right like BEYOND unnecessary, it’s so ridiculous. He’s just asking to get fucking ramrodded. Like I’m not afraid of your gun, well… ya should be Don
Aussie ex pat that moved to Long Island. I can tell you this is 100% accurate. It always staggered me the unwarranted confidence that everyone has in their combat skills in Long Island.
Lmao. Brad's scream gets me every time. He's SO beyond done with dealing with Donnie even before this meet. Then gets forced into the meet he doesn't want to do with a man he doesn't want to see, and Donnie fucks it all up like Brad knew he would. Now dude's surrounded by cops with a briefcase full of money. The scream really sells blind rage and hatred. Fucking hilarious.
Donnie was that way cause Brad was really being aggressive about Donnie being a fuck up. So Donnie played it up. It's a toxic dynamic. That being said. Yeah fuck Donnie!
@@hawk992 it was on purpose. While not explicitly said in the movie, based on what was shown it was heavily implied he was already working for the cops.
Jesse Pesrson watch the video again...it now says "I got my WIFE checking every 45 mins" but when I saw this exact video a few days ago I swear it said cousin. This is the "mandela effect" (look it up if you don't know what it is)
"Did you just try and kiss me bro!?!?" Lol! You can TOTALLY tell that part was improvised (as Scorsese often encourages). Hats off to Jonah Hill. Guy has serious talent.
According to Scorsese about 75% to 90% of this movie were improvised and you can seriously tell that. Every actor are seriously having the time of their lives filming this movie 😂😂
I think this whole Scene was Improvised ... especially the " Emperor of Fucks Ville" Part ...Brad (Jon Bernthal) had to wipe the smile off his face a couple times , not sure how he held it together .
0:42 I always loved how Brad & Jordan are talking amongst themselves and Donnie comes bursting from inside having heard them even from inside with the door closed. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good catch! Its awesome that the movie didn't make a big deal out of that, and just left it in as a little detail for people who are really paying attention...
@@flisko123 pretty sure this is improv cuz Jon and Jonah almost broke character. You can see here 2:40 Jon almost started to laugh. Scorsese even said that 75% to 90% of the movie is improvised
@@alpha8338 because Scorsese said almost 85% of the movie is improvised. Bernthal almost break character, it means that this scene was basically improvised because he unexpected laughing when he's supposed not to. He cover his face so that he won't break character a lot
@@Fl0k5ser that would be crazy man... this scene is not normal, its just brilliant. Its probably at least premeditated, like they thought about it, recorded it multiple times etc. On one point I have to disagree it seems like they wanted that brad starts to laugh a bit, I doubt that they would just say "ah doesnt matter" since this is a topnotch movie.
@@alpha8338 well Scorsese said himself and most comedy movies is at their best being improved. It's what comedies are gifted for and to give the actors a lot more creative freedom, they don't always have to stick to what the script told them to do. And Scorsese's movies is very well known for the improvisation, he doesn't always like to stay in the script because it limits his effort like the Funny How scene in Goodfellas or Stephen Graham smacking Al Pacino's Ice Cream in The Irishman, Jack Nicholson making a rat face in The Departed, Leonardo DiCaprio dragging himself to a car where Belfort was high on drugs in The Wolf of Wall Street. It's no surprise he is gifted in that, like Scorsese said, most of the movie is improvised including this, Leo dragging himself and Matthew McConaughey's chest bump. Scorsese probably told Hill and Bernthal to argue a lot over a stupid briefcase and gave them more freedom to say whatever they want including the amount of F word they both say
Reason why Marty and Leo were able to get away with as much as they did was because of funding from Red Granite. A Independent film company and Paramount was just the distributor.
It was about sending a message son. That he was the big shot and that fuckboy was the toilet seat wiper. Pride hurts us all, and sometimes it costs us way more than it should.
Damn! That was a good catch. Never noticed how obviously Jon broke character there. I'm guessing it was left in because even a person actually in that situation might crack a real smile just because how ridiculous Donnie's character was being, even if you hated his guts! I'm guessing in real life Jonah just improved like you said and some of his lines caught Jon off guard!
Donnie brought the whole thing down on everybody head. Because he could not keep his big mouth shut! Brad should have taken the money and capped his ass.....
Capping your clients is bad for buisness for a dealer and it brings paranoia and attention from your other buyers and the cops not a good idea. And if your in a crime syndicate/gang as soon as they know someone has been killed the feds and or dea move in and take over.
I love the way he says “ i got a couple of mil coming im, when it gets in I’ll give you a call and you come pick it up” and the repeats the same thing the same way 😂
I love how Donnie says “I check my voicemail every day when I come in from work” and brads response is “oh yeah? Didn’t get one huh?” Shit is fucking hilarious.
@@longebane It was obvious he was setting him up. The entire scene was him stalling and creating a scene. It was more than likely he had the cops working with him, which is why he had the balls to say all that stuff while alone with Brad. The last line about Brad's wife makes it pretty obvious. Brad would have beat him silly, but Donnie had to know the cops would step in before that happened.
Fun Fact - Despite training to make a fake punch look real, 'Brad' accidentally *actually* punched 'Donnie' during the filming of this scene, causing Jonah Hill's prosthetic teeth to split in half.
Dude in actuality this movie was fucking fantastic. It had a completely different type of conflict than other films but it expressed it beautifully in how the characters displayed continuity.
Definitely. He should have walked on him once he stumbled out of the car. Donnie needs Brad way more than vice versa, so sooner or later he was going to have to give Brad the drop anyway. Make him wait.
Fun Fact: Jon Bernthal actually punched Jonah Hill square in the face during this scene. Scorsese kept the camera rolling and let the camera capture Jonah Hill's face swelling in real time.
"Are you fucking stupid? ..I'm not stupid".... Lol that exchange is comedy gold....also Brad telling him "you didn't get one huh?"... In regards to an apology
Donnie was Jealous that Brad was more Valued to Jordan than Donnie. Even though Jordan didn’t really care, he just wanted this thing to work. Donnie screwed everyone by not controlling himself.
