This is my version of the song from "Ronja Rövardotter / Ronia the robbers daugther" written by our most loved Swedish writer, Astrid Lindgren , whose books have been read all over the world. This song from the movie has always been very dear to me.
For a long time now I wanted to make my own version of it, and make some small changes in the melody. What do you think? :)
I really hope you will enjoy my version of this song!

wanna inform the viewers on here that this lullaby is still being sung for our swedish children at night. I grew up hearing my mom sing it and now I sing it to my son. she truly capture the magic.

Hi, my family is from Sri Lanka. One day, this song popped up while we were trying to feed lunch to my 8-month-old son. Something unexpected happened: my baby ate without a problem. I thought it was because of the wolf in the video, but I soon realized he liked the song. Not just wolves; every night before going to sleep, we play this song for him, and sometimes he falls asleep to it.

My mother used to sing this song for me as a child. Now I got 4 children of my own and kind of forgotten about how much I used to love when she sang for me. Tomorrow I’m singing this for my children, making it a part of their childhood. Beautiful version Jonna!

Песня(колыбельная) поразила тем, что женщина не грозит волку, типа убью и т. д. Она говорит, что ребенка не отдаст, а даст ему свиной хвост ( может последнее, что у неё осталось от ужина). The translation is nice. The woman fears the wolf, in case it takes her child, but she respects it, she knows it has a right to live too, she does not want to see it starve, and gives it the pig tail. Beautiful.

This song, this lullaby It satiates a longing I’ve had for a long time hidden. For peace, for rest, for respite among the seas around filled with the pain of others I take on in order for life to flourish. And sadly I have went too far, I have lost parts of myself, and I cannot truly be whole anymore without what I’ve given. This, however, puts the discordance and unrest to a state where it no longer hurts. Thank you Jonna, you have put me and other parts of my existence to peace for the time being until it’s called upon again.

This won't be from your ancestors. It's written by the children's author Astrid Lindgren for her book Ronja Rövardotter which was written in the 80's, so it's a fairly recent song.

I mean I like the lore and the song, and the background music and her voice is ok. 6/10. Better than average. I thumbs upped. The cultural significance of this video outweighs any discontent I could envision for it. Which is why I like it. But it isn't incredible singing, the video however, is incredible.

There are some studies that even with lack of consciousness, a person can still hear and recognize sounds at his surroundings, there is a story of a medic that described one of the most beautiful experiences on field, a patient in bad shape, being transported in ambulance, pulse was fast, patient shaking and sweating, but a paramedic grabbed the hand of the patient and told him, “don’t worry, you are not alone, we are with you” then the pulse got stable, and he stoped shaking and sweating. I played this to my little nephew at nap time. He kept asking me what those lyrics meant. I told him that I didn't know because it's a different language than ours (Spanish), so I told him that you don't need to understand the lyrics to understand the feelings, you just have to close your eyes and flow with the rhythm. He loved it, and before the song ended, he fell asleep on my chest. Thank you so much for this Jonna, your voice does not only put kids to sleep, but also fades away my sorrows for a moment. As a Swede, my take on this song is that of a strong, fearless, protective but humble Viking mother and woman. She sternly tells the hungry wolf to not come closer, and fiercely states that the hungry wolf will never ever be able to take her child (ungen min får du aldrig). But she also understands the animal is cold and sleepless and tosses him a pigs tail as a gesture of good will. Very reminiscent of Swedish culture with powerful and strong women, and a society that is small and might fear other countries and cultures, but humble enough to not act aggressively and instead lead with an understanding. Also, this song originates from the movie Ronja Rövardotter, whose Viking mother is portrayed as a strong, sensitive, smart and understanding woman while her brute husband only sulks, and acts in an immature manner. (Edited to keep this from being a man vs woman argument)

As a Finnish person I was only able to understand some of the lyrics, but this soothes my Nordic soul and reminds of my home in the middle of forests - far away from cities and traffic. During winter after sunset, I often ride deeper into the woods on my snowmobile and make a campfire. There's something truly magical in that moment, just sitting there all alone in silence with my thoughts while being surrounded by kilometers of dark, snowy wilderness - watching the dancing flames of the campfire while sipping hot glogg in the freezing temperature. Also this slight excitement of being totally unaware of what could be lurking in the darkness behind the trees, watching me. Truly makes me long for winter.

As a Fin, you actually also have -slavic- (Edit: nomadic) roots interestingly enough. I edited the comment because it is highly anachronistic to call these roots slavic. The early settlers of Finland (a name which in this geopolitical timeframe would also be considered anachronistic), were nomadic in lifestyle. @@marinko6450 pa svi smo bili pagani do hrišćanstva, , nisu vikinzi ovde svraćali.. malo na mediteran i jug CG . kako je moguće da imamo zajednicke korene... samo neka poklapanja u mitologiji

@@marinko6450, is often and popular name in Serbia, so I was sure that you are Serbian, and that you speak language. I was wrong, obviesly, sorry.The point is that Slavics and Vikings have no roots or ancestors in common ..yes. panheon in religion, gods and godess, for example Odin Loci , norse myhology, Svarog Svarožić slavic m. (characteristics and stories) etc., but roots..how could that be ? Correct me if i m wrong.or just explain that "roots thing" :)

@@Ana-ds4sy Let me explain. Thousands of years ago before Finland was settled by humans, it was actually "conquered" by nomadic warrior tribes originating from what today is roughly Hungaria. That's how Finnish people in particular have slavic roots. It's very noticable in language.
