It's scary how many people have a gut feeling that something is going to happen to them and then it really does happen...

When I heard the part where he got out on bail it made me FURIOUS. That judge is responsible for her death. Absolutely despicable.

Unfortunately, Jane was the only one who could testify against her own rape and while that’s terribly awful, it shouldn’t matter as he should already be serving the rest of his pathetic life in prison. 30 years is not enough, he’s shown he has no remorse for what he’s done, he had zero respect for women, and is a danger to society as a whole and should rot in a cell by himself.

I will never understand people like this. He didn’t want to go to prison for rape, so he stabbed Jane and will go to prison for rape AND murder instead? Like what???

I married my “Johnathan.” Everything Jane went through I went through. I was able to escape and get back to my support and safety. We have a child and he did in fact physically abuse her too at 2 weeks old! My heart feels for Jane. Anybody in this kind of situation, never think he won’t hurt your child too, they do. They use you up until you have nothing left. You’re their property and so is any children you have with them. They’re in humane and once they lose control of you everything gets worse. Tell somebody you need help and get you and your kids as far away as possible! Get the police involved. Learn how to protect yourself. And never go back 😓💜 Stay safe ladies!

Side note: Always play dead! I hope none of you ever find yourself in this position, but if you're still alive after an attack, and it's plausible of course, play dead. So many people have survived because they did that and the perp left.

The saddest thing is that she was murdered where she saved lives. And where he RUINED hers. I am so sorry for her and her daughter and every other woman that has been trough this fear.

similar thing happened in italy last year. a woman was abused in her home, she called police several times but they did nothing. it got so bad that she bought her own coffin and prepared her own funeral. she was murdered shortly after

“He would tell little white lies” YES OMFG. People often miss this part of narcissists, it’s one of the BIGGEST signs before the ab_se gets worse. I was friends with a narcissist and she would lie about everything. Every. Little. Thing. Just random things that didn’t matter. She would often contradict herself too! One minute she was rich and she use to live in a house with a movie theatre, the next minute she was dirt poor and her mom never helped her finically. These people just can’t help themselves, their mouths open before they even have time to think. Please, if you feel you’re in an unsafe relationship listen to your intuition/gut feeling and check for little red flags like this. Every red flag, no matter how tiny, matters. You are not crazy! You’re noticing signs for a reason!

This story is absolutely heartbreaking. Jane was so unbelievably kind and forgiving, even when she shouldn't have been.

I worked at Blackpool Victorial Hospital at the time & remember this happening. Although I didnt know Jane personally, the shock & despair I & my colleagues felt is irmeasurable. Walking through the hospital corridors you could feel the pain weighing heavy on everyone. I believe it was a member of the public going back to their car, that found Jane & I dread to think how they felt. Little did I know, a few years later, after finding myself trying to flee an extremely similar situation, the new measures put in place by the hospital because of Jane's murder, would actually help me. I had security guards escourt me to & from my car & my dept door. I was provided with a personal silent alarm which alerted a 24hr security company of my location & sent a 30 second recording of what was happening. I was offered councilling & was forwarded on to Fylde Coast Women's Aid. I'll be forever grateful to Jane's parents for campaigning so hard. Jane will be forever remembered in my heart

Domestic violence survivor here.. I just want to say there is always a way out(even though it may not seem like it). It took me 6 years and a police officer telling me he didn’t want to see another young woman murdered to fully leave. I had two small children at the time too, but when I started running I couldn’t stop. Even though I had been battered, ripped away from my family, my friends I still held on to hope. In leaving my abuser, even though I had two children with him, I found love and happiness in someone else I would eventually marry in 2017. It’s been 4 and half years of nothing but happiness with my husband, and my two children and we even added a child together in 2018. Thank you Eleanor for this case and bringing awareness. 💜

As a rape survivor who went to the police, I was never told about my option to use Jane’s Law. It’s an amazing law but I never knew about it 😔

I love how we always tell women that they should protect themselves, be vigilant walking home alone etc, but maybe a better solution would be for judges not to bail or parole rapists and domestic abusers? I love the idea of the domestic abusers list - these people rarely change, and usually go on abusing their next partners and kids.

That judge is just now getting retired. He didn't face any consequences for releasing a rapist out to murder. He has publicly harassed a pub owner for not letting his dog inside the pub. And still, no consequences. He is living his life, guilt free and the scary thing is, there are other people in power who fuck up in the same way and misuse their positions and they get to keep their lives.

this murder could have been PREVENTED TWICE. jane’s life could have been saved TWICE. this is not only the fault of jonathan but also the judge and that policeman. i hope that judge and police officer got fired or some form of punishment. i hope jane’s family is well and that jane rests easy

That’s the thing ppl don’t understand about abusive relationships: the victim really is in love and hopeful that the abuser will go back to being how they were in the beginning. Everyone asks why the victim doesn’t leave but that’s why it took me so long to leave my abuser. I was waiting for the person I fell in love with to return and I thought it was my fault he was awful to me. It’s a very confusing, damaging process to escape if you’re lucky enough to get out. 💔

It’s so heartbreaking that she was a nurse and wanted to help people but she was treated so badly by someone who she wanted to love.

This would have NEVER happened if that judge didn’t let Jonathon go, it’s actually ridiculous.

As a survivor of sexual abuse from a romantic partner I totally understood her reasoning for not telling her parents he raped her. I’ve never told my parents, about the sexual abuse or any of the other abuse, because I’ve always been scared they’d think less of me or felt like they’d blame themselves. I was lucky enough to escape but even six years later I’m still healing, because it’s just such a hard thing to talk about and come to terms with. I still won’t say most of it out loud to anyone because it makes me sick to even remember. It’s hard and I feel like I’ll never completely heal but I’m so glad I was able to get away. I think if I hadn’t I probably would have ended up like Jane, which scares the hell out of me. I just wish I’d had the courage to go to the police like Jane did. She’s so strong for doing all that she did and trying to make a new life for herself.

Notice to all women: when your 'boyfriend' tells you he is married, chuck him out. Finish it, end it instantly. And for good measure tell his wife so she can decide if she wants to ditch him as well - she should. Don't listen to any stories about the marriage is failing, he is unhappy, she doesn't understand me, I am only staying in it for the kids, I will be divorced soon etc. etc. Do not accept any excuses, none, finish it instantly because only one of two things will happen; he wont' ever leave her and just string you along. Or the guy who commits adultery with you will eventually commit adultery on you.

Say it with me girls: "HAVING A BABY WITH YOUR ABUSER DOESN'T STOP THE ABUSE, IT'S JUST EITHER WORSE OR DIRECTED AT THE BABY"

I felt like crying my eyes out when Eleanor explained how he went back after witnessing her trying to make it back to her car after the first attack. Just imagining how the idea of leaving her baby behind kept her fighting for her life against the impossible, only for the man she had once loved with all her heart to come back over to her only to kill her in cold blood as he had meant to do. Even when he had the opportunity to walk away. I just hope that she is at peace now, it litrally breaks my heart. She deserved to find love and happiness. I hope that she finds it in the next life, but at least her parents provided her with love and happiness within her childhood and throughout her suffering. This case is devastating.

I hope the judge who granted bail is haunted for the rest of their miserable, pathetic life.

As a nurse, this made me cry because she probably knew from her injuries she probably wouldn’t survive I can’t even imagine the trauma for her friends and fellow workers as the bond we create at work becomes so strong💔

I’m 16 now but I was 15 at the time when I was in a similar situation he manipulated, lied, sa, cheated, etc. i even fell pregnant and later had gotten a miscarriage. In May I made the decision to get a restraining order on him but the reason for it was what got him locked up. I was safe for about 2 months but for about a month I had to stay inside my house. In August he had gotten out for a day and that’s when he had broke the rules and got ahold of me, I immediately started freaking out and it got so bad that that day he came to my house. He’s now locked up idk for how long or what but i know that I am safe for right now.

The thought that Jane would still be with us today If jonathon was just denied bail…

So you’re telling me this man had to work 2 jobs, interact with a wife and kids, maintain a girlfriend and STILL had time to stalk the girlfriend?! This man is a lunatic.

a stalker and domestic abuser registry would be life changing for so many ppl. I wish we had that where I live. If you can't prove sexual violence (which often isnt reported right away in most situations especially domestic ones) and you can prove all the other horrible things happening they could just do this again to other ppl without much warning.. these kind of abusers cycle through ppl and need to control victims... being on a list even if they didn't serve time or only served a bit or had probation would be validating in it's own way so you can warn others. they cant brush it off and say you are lying, it was for a bar fight or she made stuff up. my abuser went on to hurt other girls and even lied to one while stalking me and she contacted me after seeing my photos on his computer. another girl tried taking him to court whil i was dating him and he got extra controlling and manipulated her into dropping charges and i feel like if i had fought back and been less scared of him maybe i could have helped her case. now i just have therapy notes and ptsd for my troubles and he goes on hurting more ppl. I'm likely posted online everywhere too which can be evidence but im too scared to try and look and the longer the wait the harder it will be... most abusers NEVER face any consequences and when they do its never their fault and always their victims being so mean to them for nooooooo reason. they will never just up and decide to change or not abuse the next one. they need to be forced to be better through therapy and restrictions or be isolated from society.

Women in Hollywood have an Excel file that they share that contains the names of known abusers. That way if a woman is worried about working with a certain director or costar or producer or what have you, they can look at the list and look for that person's name and see if anyone has any negative experience with him. I absolutely love this idea because it doesn't rely on court convictions, but rather on believing women. It gives so much power back to these women being able to make informed decisions about their lives and careers. I hope this becomes more common. Every city, every state, should have these lists and women can share it with other women.

I've noticed you always talk really highly of the murder victim, talking about what strong or kind people they were, you give an identity to the people you talk about, and it's really respectful. you're a really great story teller thank you for sharing these videos!

Ladies, LISTEN to your friends and/or family about the person you’re dating! I say this from experience. They see things you don’t because you see that person’s good traits only while your friends and family see the whole person. Please listen if they say something is off with the person!

Sadly abuse quite often gets worse when the partner gets pregnant. If anyone is being abused, please know that a pregnancy won't stop the abuse. It may temporarily improve but usually after the baby is born it will start again and will get worse. An abusive partner also puts the child at increased risk of child abuse, including as a newborn infant. It's fairly common that the baby crying will lead to the partner hurting the baby or shaking the baby (shaken baby syndrome) which can kill the infant in a matter of seconds. If this is happening to you and you're worried about your partner finding out, you can let your doctor know during any of your prenatal visits or well baby visits and they can get you the information to a women's shelter or other. Remember you're not in this alone and there is a ton of help available if you need. Also know that this isn't a reflection on your ability to spot a bad person. Abusers are excellent at charming people and very slowly ramping up the abuse as well as making you feel like your abuse is your fault. It's not. If you need help, do seek it out

The judge who granted Jonathan Vass bail is called Simon Newell. He’s still a serving judge and seems to do odd things like Picketing a pub because they wouldn’t allow him inside with his dog.

I watched a documentary about this a few years ago, they interviewed him in it and showed him some newspaper clippings of what he had done, he got a pen and stabbed Janes eyes with it and said she deserved what she got! It was awful I will never ever forget it and the evil look in his eyes! He will or I hope should never be released! Rip Jane and how wonderful and strong are her parents! 🙏🏼 xxx

This had me on the edge of my seat. I thought after the incident in the parking lot, just as he was about to go away and she was pulling herself along, I had hoped she would survive and AGAIN in the hospital, I thought there would be a chance for this lady. Those poor workers trying to resuscitate her, I cant imagine the panic and urgency they worked with trying to save their friend. Its horrible! I havent listened past the part of her admittance and death in hospital yet, but I hope Jonny gets life in prison

My heart goes out to Jane's family. Jane was a warrior. She was so brave and strong. I have been abused and stalked and her journal entries mirrored my own. Her ability to try to pick up with her life after all she had been through really pulls at my heart strings. This is heartbreaking. This is why I'm scared of dating, scared of men. They can literally charm you off your feet and come across as this nice guy, only to turn into a monster. You literally don't know what type of person you're dealing with until they reveal their true selves, and by then it can be too late :(

Really pisses me off that victims don't have more protection. Infact it feels like the the law is on the attackers side in this country. I was attacked by a random man on a night out a few years ago and it made me realise how bad it is. It made me so ill with anxiety I ended up dropping the case. I am terrified of something worse happening to me because I'd just feel completely helpless.

I just left a domestic violence shelter & I really want to thank you for covering these stories 🖤 It’s nice to know that even if the worst does happen, people will see us as an individual with our own story, not “just another statistic”

I live in Blackpool and this was horrific, I was in hospital when this happened in the car park and honestly the nurses was in complete shock all spoke so highly of her too, there's a little memorial at the hospital for her now, it's such a shame for her little girl, there's a documentary on the animal who did it, I really hope she has found some peace now 🤍🤍

Why do they NEVER seem to care about people who are being stalked and/or abused? They treat these things like some minor crimes (or not even a crime in most stalking cases) and so many people die because of it.

I am a true crime fangirl for decades now, since the 80s. Jane's parents are two of the most uplifting people in the many annals I've encountered.

I will never understand these judges that allow people like that out on bail. I guarantee you they would do all they could to keep them in there, if it was their wife, daughter, or granddaughter.

I also had an especially strong emotional reaction to this case. Good gracious my heart hurts for Jane and her family. It also shocks me, case after case, how short sentences are for serious violent crimes in the UK.

It’s so gross that jane’s family, friends, coworkers and everyone in her life tried so hard to keep her safe, but the legal system failed her. At least she was finally able to be happy and free again before she passed.

i'm just 10 minutes in but i had to say this to all the nurses reading this and everywhere, you are the backbone of the healthcare industry. we doctors treat the patients, yes, but you do the heavy lifting and are always running even if it is 3am to help a patient in distress. i was critically ill once while i was doing my residency and this one nurse came in everyday with the biggest smile on her face, she cared for me, braided my hair and lifted my spirits when i wanted to give up. I have immense respect for the profession and anyone who chooses to be one says a lot about their kind hearts.

Jane’s parents were so sweet and nice, they obviously cared for their daughter and it’s so horrible to imagine that they had their daughter taken away by this PoS. The fact that this PoS was let out on bail when the judge knew he was dangerous pissed me off so much… RIP Jane

First of all, love your channel. This case hit me so hard. I work in healthcare and although it’s not the trauma/urgent care, I still get so affected seeing those I know in the facility being treated. I cannot fathom how those friends and coworkers of Jane held it together to try saving her. Truly takes a strong person to do so. This brings a tear to my eye. If only she could have been saved by the judge never letting that guy out in the first place. Take care, thanks for all you do!

This is beyond frustrating. The fact that this was so easily preventable and that there are so many more preventable cases like this is terrifying and ridiculous. My heart goes out to her family. I wish I got to learn more about topics like this instead of the my plate and food pyramid during wellness class, it could’ve saved a lot of people.

My ex was disliked by my friends and family.. he tried to kill me once. Even apologized for it. I couldn’t see the red flags even when they were right in my face. This is why I don’t judge people for being loyal to toxic people. They really are manipulated and gaslit into thinking it’s their own fault.

I am a DA survivor and almost lost my life to a monster. It’s been over 30 years and I still feel paranoid which to me is comforting. When someone tells me, it’s over, and the monster is “gone”, I just smile, knowing that they know NOTHING. It’s NEVER over MONSTERS will always stock their pray. FLIP THE SWITCH Proceed with vigilance ladies, hunt or be hunted.

The work Janes parents done is so incredible and beautiful and i know Jane would be proud. My heart goes to her loved ones, especially her parents and daughter and friends that had to operate on her i cant imagine how they feel

To every adult out there if your partner or any one in your life thinks it’s ok to put their hands on you in any form, shut it down right away. It’s going to escalate, it won’t stop, it’s not just once, you do not deserve it. You cannot heal them, or fix them, it is NOT just a phase. One does not wake up one day and decide to start handling their problems with physical violence. It is who they are and the lay in wait for them to be rooted in your life and see how much you will take before they strike.

The judge who approved of that bail makes my blood boil. Jane was finally living her life and raising her daughter and her life was taken away by a psycho. This absolutely breaks my heart bc she stood her ground for her daughter and herself. Rest in peace beautiful soul 🕊

This case really hit home towards me. My father is an abusive man who emotionally and physically abused myself, mother and siblings. We are currently a legal battle under criminal law and family law for his domestic abuse. In February 2021 he came to our house and attacked my two younger siblings. He threw one of my siblings out of a car and kicked her pelvis in. With my other sister he chased and attempted to break her arm in the front door of our home. This attack has mentally traumatized my siblings and myself as well as my mum as she has a safety order on him from his abuse towards her prior and for myself as I've currently one on him also due to him punching me in the face and throwing me out of a moving vehicle at 14. Currently court is ongoing, he is out on bail even though court knows he is a danger towards my family. Criminal court has still not been settled and is still under investigation. My father believes we will drop charges but we are firm and are not going to. Since being on bail he has broken it four times 3 times trying to contact us threw social media and once by a letter to the house and the other time by not showing up to court. He was charged 50 euro for each bail breakage. A 50 euro fine is not a punishment and shows him he can continue to get away with this behavior. We as a family fear for our lives as court progresses as he is well known for violent outbursts and we fear what he could be capable of. He claims the night of February nothing happened. He claims my siblings, my mum and myself made this event up to soil his reputation. But also in family court seeking access for my youngest sibling who is autistic, stating he cannot make his mind up if he wants to see him or not due to his special needs. We all fear him. We are scared. He is out there getting away with breaking bail 4 times! He is a dangerous man. We are seeking help from Woman's Link who have told us as this case comes closer to the verdict and he realizes he is not going to get away with this he will become more violent towards us and in all honesty I believe he is capable of taking a step to far. So if anything happens this is proof our feelings towards him is correct. Laws need changing to protect families like mine because it's not fair we have to live in terror and possibly meet our ends by people like him and Jonathon...

Jonathan’s behaviour reminds me of my father. My mother always makes excuses for my biological father, saying she fell in love with who he “was”, and my entire family kept telling my mother to leave him because he’s manipulative, but she’s so deep into the manipulation and low self esteem that she cannot leave him anymore. Not to mention that when divorce came up, my father said he’d find me no matter where my mother would take me. At least I can see through it and want to leave, but my mother’s far gone and not happy anymore, I don’t think she’ll ever be.

The photos of her with the baby... She's smiling through the pain, still hopeful that her dreams of having a happy family with a loving man will come true. I feel like crying... This case hurts.

The fact that judge who decided to let such a monster out on bail - Simon Newell - was allowed to keep his position and his job until he decided to retire in July this year is disgusting. Where’s the justice for Jane??

I had an ex-boyfriend who literally lied constantly about everything. He even lied about trivial things like what he had for lunch. Obviously this was a huge red flag.

My mom went through a similar domestic abuse situation. Thankfully, she somehow managed to make it out alive but I vividly remember being 16 and being terrified that she was going to go out one day and not come home

This story makes me so sad for both Jane and the other woman. To find out that your husband has not only been cheating on you but is sitting in cell because of Violence and rape on his other girlfriend and they have a child together?! I can’t imagine how she felt. And of course, I feel so sorry for Jane, she did not deserve this, and her daughter didn’t deserve to lose her mummy 🥺

I hope the parents got custody of their granddaughter, at least they have a small joy within this tragedy.

I will always remember this case as it is so close to where I live. It was absolutely horrendous. I remember the Jane's Law that came in place from all of this. Absolutely horrendous!

At 57:56 what a smug mug! He took a beautiful, vital, kind, caring person from our world. Not to mention what he took from his own child and Jayne’s family and friends. He’s a HORRIBLE human! Such a sad case. The silver lining is her parents determination to help other people with the laws created in Jayne’s name. They seem like wonderful people! No wonder Jayne turned out to be so kind.

this was the first murder case that i actually felt terrible for the victim. usually i just feel bad and then move on, but this had a lasting effect on me, it made me sad. i had hope for her, hope for her life. she had a daughter, and i can’t imagine how that child feels. my heart goes out to her family. ❤️

Case suggestion: Pamela Hastie. Unsolved murder of a girl from my town from the 80s. There was a man wrongly imprisoned for a long time but he was released so it's back to being unsolved.

My heart is broken for her family especially her daughter. That judge should be on trial.
