Got to jump in here and say a LOT of those welds are not bad. Seriously not bad. There are some that are completely trash. But most are either full OEM welds or just regular ass mig welds. Nothing wrong with them.

Half of the welds that you are showing are the OEM welds from the assembly line!

I’ve been welding for 25 years and I will tell you that every process has a different look and finish when complete. Sometimes depending on the material your working with you could even have a different color. I think the majority of what you showed was decent some of it was excellent. I think you would go a lot further sticking to a lot more positive comments rather than mostly negative. Remember they don’t refer to TIG welding as tuxedo Welding for nothing, it’s clean neat and precise but that is not the reality most of the time. Even in ultra high-end shops it’s not always the best option. Everyone keep welding stay positive and have a safe holiday season.

The first cars welds where good....u have to spot weld body panels so u don't warp them...I'd like to see this goof ball try it lol

Really nitpicking there, I work in ag tech and most oem welds on heavy machinery have roughness to them, doesn't say it's not gonna hold. Important is penetration and that you keep dirt out of the weld. When you're going for the pure look just use TIG and be done with it

What I find hilarious is that alot of the shitty welds you saw on the frames were factory welds. Build quality is trash even on factory stuff

I do agree some of these welds could cosmetically look better, but don't be fooled, not every structural weld is a pretty weld. There's a lot more going on under the surface of the weld than just looks...

You're beating on the welders but correct welding needs to be functional. Making it pretty is a bonus not a necessity. I understand where you're coming from, it's sema, the best of the best so a show car should have nice looking welds but not everyone at sema is a beauty welder.

most of these welds look completely fine. maybe since they’re sema cars they should be beautiful tig welds, but for any other build, 95% of these welds would be perfect, not looking perfect doesn’t mean it isn’t strong.

I used to weld for a for years and yes I agree on a SHOW truck your welds should look SHOW but I've had many many of my welds X-rayed over my time welding and never had one fail just cause it's not a stack of dimes doesn't mean it's not strong

The welds at 7:00 are actually pretty good could have filled it a little more but the bead is pretty consistent. A lot of these welds aren’t that bad it’s just blasted on there with a mig gun you would be surprised how strong they are.

4:50 okay we’re into some porosity and undercut but most of the other stuff before that honestly wasn’t cringe at all. Also the first car that was chopped and sectioned I guess was sitting on a BMW chassis so that this pretty rad. The fab work wasn’t bad at all for being sheet metal.

You should have mechanics send you clips of the worst weld jobs they find on cars and you could voice over them 👍

The first car was left this way on purpose. They wanted you to see what all was involved in making complex curves on a custom build. They could have very easily ground those down and smoothed them out.

9:50 i saw that car on "that dude in that blue's" channel a few days ago. That car was built by 1 guy in his garage.. he painted it in a harbor freight paint tent and was put on the trailer before it was dry to make it in time... so ya its bad but the craftsmanship is actually pretty decent.. saw that car in another vid with the owner..
