At the begining of February, Renée and I spent ten days at the cottage. We had no major incident, but still, this is what we've done during our stay.

I like how the dogs are secured in warm package for the ride to and from the cottage. We bring our dogs to the cottage too and they have it better than us! I like your videos about the cottage.

Thank you. Yes it's pretty simple for them. We have to keep them worm, the old blind one, barely have any fur left, but even the young chihuahua can't stay out long in very cold weather, it's why I'm eager to bring him on walks when it will be hotter outside.

Always a pleasure to see another cottage vid from you both, Alain. Lovely to hear you've had a nice, relaxing stay once more. Love seeing the snowmobile adventures.

Thank you, A lot of people likes them, so I'm making one almost every time we go there. But, like this one, not all videos have something made out of wood that can be interesting, but I try to show nice landscapes and wildlife. I love going there and I share it.

At 8:42; I don't want to be one of "them", but consider putting a shield or something over the propane pressure line regulator. I see the regulator has ice on it. It's critical that the small air vent hole underneath does not ice over. If it does get closed, the regulator's diaphragm can't do its job. You could have runaway pressure at the burner (think blow torch). Working as a forensic engineer many years ago, I had personally seen a farmer's pigs barn burn down (hundreds of pigs lost), because the regulator was under the direct path of melting water and refreezing from the roof. The regulator was unable to step down the tank's pressure to 11" of water. To protect it, it could be as simple as a bucket with two notches to fit over the lines. It probably won't pivot because of hose tee; but check. As usual great video.

Thank you, I had no clue. One of the great thing of making these videos, is that sometime I stumble on someone who gives me sound advice, just like you. I will put something on top of the tank on my next trip in a couple of weeks. Thank you so much again

Very interesting indeed -- always such a pleasure to watch the happenings at your cottage, Alain. My Canadian cousins used to tell us about wearing snowshoes & all their snowmobile adventures, so it's great to be able to put some moving images to the verbal descriptions/photographs. I've never done either myself, alas (though I've shovelled plenty of snow)...

Thank you. I've just started loving snowmobiling 20 years ago, after purchassing a 35 year old snowmobile at the time... I loved it so much that one day I ran out of gas and decided that instead of filling the tank I would treat myself and buy a brand new snowmobile. This was my first "real" snowmobile that I was able to make long and secure ride, this one is my second. Maybe someday you will come here and try a snowmobile. I design a snowmobile trip for my "out of the country" friends that starts in my backyard and from there we will go to my cottage and back, this is a 4 days ride, but it was not cold enough this year to cross the river and they're not a lot of snow around Montreal...

@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker That all sounds great fun -- especially the trip from your backyard to your cottage! I've tried to get to Antarctica as part of my work, which would have hopefully involved some snowmobiling, etc. as well. But haven't had much luck so far (although some of my colleagues have gone), and I'm starting to get close to the upper age limit. It might be that the (Canadian) Arctic is a more realistic option these days...

I think so, at least here if something happen, they're a lot of people on the snowmobile trail. It's why I'm also glad that the trail is only 3Km from my cottage, it's possible to walk up to it if something happen. But the draw back is that even if it's 3Km away we can still hear the snowmobile who runs with a 2 cycles engin. And also you can view something else than infinite planes of snow

Do you have a heater for the cottage battery in the winter? And yes, I do enjoy the chalet videos. It's lovely and rustic

Since my batteries are not Lithium-Ion I don't need keep them worm. I have four lead/acid 6v battery which gives me 500Ah at 12 volts. But if the sun is not there when we're there, this will only gives us electricity for about 30 hours. When we're there, I have quite a few electronic gadgets that I've build that is working 24/7 and we always bring our laptops, this is what eats up most of our power. But during our stay we had to start the generator only one day, but I bought a new battery charger and I was able to charge the batteries at 30 Amperes while the generator was running. A lot of people are liking my cottage videos, it's why I keep making them. Thank you

Maybe someone asked before ... did you buy the land where you have the cottage or what is the story with that ? I don't know how laws work in Canada about cottages. :) But I do enjoy every cottage video, looks so cozy and peaceful.

The lot was rented to the government, now they passed all the leases to a neighbouring town, OK it's 150Km away, but it's the norm from where my cottage is. So we pay rent and property taxes. This comme really cheap in the end, and since they barely release any new lot across the province, those leases become very coveted. But other people who have cottages in villages, own the property, but only the rich people can afford a lakeside cottage.

Yes it has changed since 1994 when we cut the first tree to build the cottage. And we're not done yet, we bough 25 boxes of hard wood flooring that we will install this spring to replace the commercial tiles on our floor. We try to spent as much time that we can, about three monts in several occasions.
