Just found this channel today and this is like the 5th or 6th video in a row that I've watched. Awesome job! I'm a stickler for OE wheels so I'd love to see a set of stock GS-X wheels on this thing. Also on some of the hardware that you weren't able to replace. I've found a way to mimic the yellow zinc on hardware without going through the trouble of new zinc. I first hit them with a dust coat of chrome paint. Then get a can of the duplicolor anodized paint. It's basically a candy paint in the aerosol can. But it's like a yellow/gold color and if you dust it on from like a foot away over the chrome it looks great. I've done this on small brackets as well. Just a cheap tip if you want to try it. Edit: the paint is part # MC202 metal cast yellow.
Thanks for watching and the vote on the wheels. I have done the paint of hardware in the past, but find it comes off over time or when you wrench on it later. I also did my own plating on OEM bolts which worked, but took a lot of time. I eventually decided to find a supplier that had brand new near OEM looking hardware. I appreciate sharing the tip with everyone so they know the options available.
@@SlippingTime I replace what I can too. A few sellers on ebay offer yellow zinc metric hardware in various sizes. But large suspension bolts are impossible to find. I want to get into doing real zinc plating as well but for now painting the heads looks better than nothing lol.
Very nice car, likely one of the best in existence. I wonder if it the video is all CGI, because: 1> no wind in Sask. 2> no mosquito swarms attacking .
Excellent work - thought the intro was cool. Did you consider a manifold heat shield? What's the extra line running to the back next to the brake lines underneath?
Good eye Radboud. The under hood heat shield is the only item missing and it is because the original one’s foil was delaminating. I attempted to reskin it, but felt it took too much always from the stock look of the car and did not attach it. Everything on the car has to be perfect or it doesn’t go on. Currently I have a lead on a new one. The extra lines under the car are the -6 AN fuel feed, the catch can vent, and a short one just ending past the firewall for the coolant overflow bottle. I have the catch can vent go that far back to ensure no fines can ever get in the cab area.
@@SlippingTime thank you so much! I honestly still can't believe how great this car looks. This is the best example I have ever seen. I kinda wish it still had the original motor, but the 6 bolt is awesome.
@@nefariouscj9791 been dealing with cars enough to know what sizes I need when looking at them I suppose. Best thing you can do is measure them and use a thread pitch gauge as well.
I felt sad leaving my 97 eclipse at the ford dealership. Mine had 130k. I traded it for a Ford Svt Lightning. I waited on a list for months to test drive it. There is a reason I wanted more instant power after driving this car. It looked fine, they told me to just shove the factory heatunit in it. It doesnt have to work.
Can you please let me know how much you payed to paint the plastic moldings or what I thought were side skirts? My 97 GST spyder with super low miles overall looks great but both of those moldings are faded with the clear peeling. And did you remove them or let the body shop do all that? Thanks in advance. Clean Eclipse GSX by the way
Definitely remove them for painting for best results. At the time I worked out a deal with an autobody mixed with some other work so it’s hard to determine how much just the mouldings were. I suggest find autobody’s you can trust, remove them, and take them there for quotes. Thanks for watching!

Good eye Donald. Although that can be an issue it doesn’t necessarily occur all the time and build/car dependent. We used it do the same back in the day and it was probably a 50/50 thing. It doesn’t seem to bother this car at all or else I would have recirculated it for sure.
How many miles is on the motor? Did he say? I know the body has 99 but he said that the motor was put in before he bought it so I don't know if he knows the motor mileage
@@trojanman22 it’s one of the nicest out there I feel with low mileage so a price that reflects that is the goal. I may put it in Bring a Trailer, but will sell it for a fair price if the right one comes.
