I always wondered why it takes the exact same time for a plane to travel both ways at 45,000 feet, from one destination along the equator to another if the earth is spinning at 1000 miles per hour. There should be a time difference.

I totally agree with Friedman, but this only for us Americans that have worked around the world and have lived throughout its cultures as you will see other countries with the same playing field. For instance Turkey is a very unsung hero of an economic structure, but moreso their culture is very rich all still fueled by the powerful Ottoman Empire it once was. I lived in Istanbul for 4 years and you get every style of American life in its Cosmo city with tastes from NYC, LA, Miami, rural, etc... The bottom line for his book as a metaphor is that we as humans can do a lot better and our progression is slowing all because of competitiveness per country. This is why it's called the ''World Is Flat'' with the oldschool illustration that boats will fall off the edge of the ocean meaning that's the barrier of trade we are still in. Friedman believes that America needs to get back with full job employment for all its people and not just favor the rich. this is why ''degenerate'' races of people in the USA suffer because of the unjust wealth classes and the resonance of slavery to this day. Capitalist executives ONLY care about their lifestyles. That's the reality. In their mind it's better to profit off of people from Third World labor than to provide jobs with decent wages to the American people. That's what this book is about. I suggest you guys read it.
I was looking at the flat earth model and I have a question. How does the south pole have sunlight 24 hours a day from Sept-March? under the model there are no times where the south pole would have 24 hours of daylight.
South pole does not exist. And there is no 24 hour sun in “south pole” (outer ice wall). The time feed in alleged 24 sun in “south pole” is manipulated. They use trickery.

Here is my question to you; given that the material that Friedman talks about can only be understood through directed research that takes place over many years and by the nature of the task, would require a serious effort equivalent to what many people would consider a profession, how can anyone be expected to have enough detailed information to form a view point that doesn't agree with Friedman's by just spending more of their spare time at their local public library?

@AndroidPolitician I agree with you, the divide is quite wide. As manufacturing jobs (and certain service sector jobs) move overseas, the wage compensation has not been justified. The rich get richer off the backs of the poor, and the poor only get a little more money (and sometimes are trapped at meager wages).

We are living on a round earth but in a sun spot that always faces the sun with Antartica our border surrounding this massive crater. We live on a flat plain (always sun facing melted section of the earth) that spins behind the slipstream of the sun (its heat the jet stream which keeps the ice melted and being pulled behind in the slipstream also keeps us gravitationally pinned to the earth)The rest of the planet which is much bigger than we have been told is ice. You can do whatever you want, especially when education is free, health care is free, your unemployment security is good and so on(and yes I am happy to pay taxes for that 30%-50% if necessary).
