There are nations which are doing much better that US and all of them are example where people trust the state and government. e.g. Sweden, Norway, Switzerland. On the opposite, there is not state where you can live well and people do not respect the law and do not pay taxes. Just name one.

And Switzerland is perfect example of diversity. 4 national languages, 25% of population are foreigners. 52 Cantons with independence similar to US states. Direct democracy. Large parts of the USA are more like a third world country than a first world country from the point of view of Europeans and Brits.
