Their phalanx fleece is 235 quid. And the Triple Aught Design Shagmaster (yes, it is called that) is 299 quid! To think they are all made out of the same material as a Tesco throw for 9 quid.
I have quite a big collection of Thrudark now and the quality it absolutely high end. A lot of people complain about the prices and say a £20 version is as good. I also buy budget stuff, some good some, very bad. If you look at patagonia, arc'teryx etc, TD is as good and priced the same as those high end brands. You dont need top of the line kit to go out, but if you invest in high quantity kit, it should last longer and perform better. At the end of the day, buy what you want, or can afford, no one cares, but to say its overpriced when you've not had hands on and used it in bad conditions then i dint think you can really say that. I also think its great to support british veterans and brands. I feel some are jealous of their success or they simply cant afford so feel the need to trash it.
After 20 years in Asia and no winters, I bought a few fleeces for the UK winter this year. I didn't realize fleeces were only a mid-layer and really bad with wind. Montbell and Columbia are comfortable but not really warm. However, the Mammut Innominata feels thick and warm. I like the sound of David Hudson's swedteam pile fleece though.
Nice Andy I bought a swedteam pile fleece was touch more but unreal and has membrane inside that wind and waterproof and breathable but alas with any fleece once wet it heavy but on chilly dry days great option
There’s plenty more technical, better made fleeces and jumpers available for a lot less, I’ve spent more than that on a wool blend mid layer, thrudark are a typical example of trying to market high using the ex forces excuse to con people out of paying ridiculous prices.
I have 2 Arctryx Fortez and now they have stopped manufacturing them I don’t understand why as they are awesome, and I was out the other day in the mountains and it started raining quite heavily but kept it out until I got home.
Plenty of cheaper options in uk stores for your typical Walk around snowdonia or the lake district with typical uk weather. Not going to lie, if i had £200 plus lying around to spend just on a "expert fleece" i would also be hiking around nepal or norway where i may need some expert clothing, not the united kingdom, a simple 50 quid fleece or a northface jacket will do over here. Majority of people will pay the money to try and look like SAS whilst climbing mount snowdon on a camping trip.
@@andye222 Dyson is a much greater success; it doesn't mean their products are the best VfM either. How does being Veterans exclude them from honest feedback?
@@andye222 no, but it's implicit. People can make objective (unbiased) observations on products based on their own experience. If you want to sing their praises, then by all means do it independently.
Do these fleece have any ventilation at the armpits? I love a warm fleece, but having a way to ventilate the armpits helps regulate my body temps well.
I remember b4 fleece , when outdoor clothing was smooth ! At first it was expensive , now cheap and out of fashion. Padded jackets seem to be king but fleece is fighting back, you can get one made of old plastic bottles from Decathalon so your saving the planet. I still like a fleece but I do own a padded jacket of two !
It's nice but I wouldn't swap it with my paramo taiga fleece....Best fleece ever.... You need to try a few paramo fleeces.... I'm sure the paramo ostro plus fleece would outperform your fleece... It also has a hood....
I have 3 thrudark jackets, the Grunt body warmer, the Recoil jacket and it’s great for carrying backpacks as don’t over heat, and also the Zodiac red and black which is another great outdoor jacket, but there is one jacket i won’t buy is that fleece as way to pricey for me
I have several Cotopaxi fleeces. Available in the U.S. Usually several versions are on sale at REI. Colors are unusual if you're into that sort of thing.
Worlds most expensive 1 man tent is probably the polarmond All in one sleep system. The website isn’t in English. But I’ve seen it on RU-vid it looks amazing for expeditions
I wear a lot of there gear for daily use like hoody’s and t-shirts, Spot on stuff looks cool and wash’s great . I would recommend all there stuff . There Sports wear gear is really good has well 👍
Clothing is great. Quality is great and looks decent. I have various jumpers and jackets and all top notch. Yes you can buy a £10 fleece, same as you can buy a £100 car, eat 3 tins of baked beans and feel full or sleep in a tent. I don’t mind paying more for better quality and a better feeling/experience. If you don’t like it or can’t afford it then no issues… move along 🤣🤣 you clearly don’t have any of the clothes yet are judging it based on fact less opinions 😂
Nice fleece, but no good for hiking, where folks tend to layer up or down according to how hot they get. I have a "mid layer" fleece jacket & a mid layer fleece jumper. Much thinner, but more useful.
I bought a Rab fleece with polartec thermal pro it's a heavy weight fleece weighing 730 grams .hard face outer and fluffy inside .It's not very warm for it's weight my North Face Leon heavy weight fleece I got from TK Max is warmer than the thermal pro jacket I got. don't believe the marketing hype.
I've got the Mantra gilet. Fucking love it so much I bought another. The xl is a little tight for my American tits, so I had to get XXL as well. One for work and a beater.
My mhw monkey man and r2 techface will still be better and more comfortable than this poser brand. Even norrona's trollveggen thermal pro bests this. Did they mention any weight in grams on it?
@@BackpackingUK haven’t received my item, paid for next day delivery. DPD say they have my Order details but not my item…no response from emails no response from phone calls from thrudark 🤯
