Gone but certainly not forgotten. Forever young. Marilyn could never have imagined how iconic & loved & admired she would become. Thanks for the memories.🙏💝
I never knew her but I mourn and sympathize. She was nothing but a Face to the world. But God seen her as a jewel he seen her soul and craving for love. I hope she is with him now.
Marilyn, a woman who was wronged, a woman who was sexualized, but still never stopped making the public smile, still fought against every insult. She was quite a person, truly a star, a wonderful woman, she exuded life and charm, but she could also exude sadness and poverty. She was and is the strongest person I know. I wish you peace and happiness, Marilyn, may you be well in heaven. ❤
It doesn't quite seem real that Marilyn's death and this news coverage happened during my lifetime. I was a little over a year old when Marilyn died (Marilyn rehearsed her "Happy Birthday" number for JFK on my birthday) so I have no recollection of that time, but my mother told me many years later that we were on our way to church that Sunday, the car radio was on and the announcer said that Marilyn Monroe had died the previous night and it appeared her death was a suicide. My mother recalled where we were along the way to church and told me those years afterward, "I felt so sorry for her". Some years later I was at a friend's house where the TV was on and Hollywood columnist Rona Barrett was saying, "It was nine years ago today..." and something about Marilyn Monroe's death. When I was back home I asked my mother who was Marilyn Monroe and was told she was a movie star who had killed herself. This all stood out for me probably because as a child I had a terror of death. Then there was the TIME magazine cover and story about Norman Mailer's book "Marilyn" with a lot of photos then the book was in paperback and could simply be purchased at the grocery store by someone like me. Along with that were other books such as Norman Rosten's "Marilyn: An Untold" story. The TIME coverage was what I would say started an interest in Marilyn that has lasted longer than she even lived. I once met someone who's building "super" in New York had played bridge with Marilyn on the weekends. Marilyn had told him she didn't asked to go go anywhere because people thought she would be on a cruise or staying with someone else. Instead Marilyn was playing cards with the man who did maintenance for an apartment building and I expect Marilyn had a good time as she was familiar with and maybe comfortable with blue-collar workers such as she herself had been at the airplane factory.
What a great loss 😞 I just know..in my instincts she didn't commit suicide, she may have abused drugs alcohol or self harmed to cope but that suicide is very suspicious 😢
