One question I wish I’d asked: how did the Wildlings/Free Folk end up north of the wall in the first place? If the Wall was built to protect “the realms of men,” what made the people north of the wall stay, or did they emigrate from the South?

Robert I absolutely think you should continue to put out "The Witcher" content. I found those vids to be well done and a great supplement to the series and as someone who has not read those books I enjoyed learning more of the history and lore from them. And as you mentioned on this stream I also think broadening what you cover with other series or even films would work well on your channel. Quite often over the many years at this point since I discovered your channel there were plenty of times I said "I wish Robert was covering this / making content for this" about certain series or films that I watched. Up to you of course but cover whatever interests you even if it includes casting a wider net than what you currently cover / focus on.

29:38 - That being a "George R.R. Martin thing" does make some sense. In part because they have that scene, they have Arya choose family over revenge, but then the showrunners have her fight with Sansa the entire time and after the Long Night they have her go choose vengeance again before getting talked out of it by the Hound. In other words, the order of events doesn't make any sense on the show. She gives up on vengeance for family, then fights her family, then returns to vengeance, then abandons her family. If George basically just told them "Arya's going to find out Jon is king at the inn at the crossroads and have to choose between her list and family and choose family at some point" then this makes perfect sense. The showrunners just shoved that in somewhere and then they continued writing their own story (Sansa and Arya fighting).

Joramun who could blow a horn that could wake giants and bring down the wall. Thor-mun who is known as Ice Breaker and Horn Blower and has fathered children south of the wall and is said to have "waken a giant". The stories of the NK and Joramun and Brandon the Breaker were about the future, not the past.

Very easy question, what wedding custom to adopt: Cloak the bride, cloak the bride, please cloak the bride!!! The first time I saw someone cloaking a bride, I all of a sudden felt a strong need to get married. I just lacked a groom.... Now I would never agree to get married if the groom wouldn't accept cloaking me while someone says "You can now cloak the bride and bring her under your protection."

Who betrayed Arianne? I think it was Arys Oakheart. I think that's why he essentially committed suicide. I think he was concerned about Arianne's plan and didn't think it was right to support Myrcella for the throne, but he was in love with Arianne so he couldn't confront her directly. So he let slip to someone about this action with Myrcella was going to happen thinking it wouldn't really harm anyone for him to tell. Then Myrcella is injured and Arys thinks he has made a terrible mistake that he can't live with so he sacrifices himself.

Great video, like always Señor Roberto, dicho lo cual, I feel like since the end of the series, the Others have stopped being perceived as THE existential threat they are supposed to be to GRR Martin. It's pretty much taken for granted that they won't make it past the neck and it seems to me that the fact that they won't even make it to King's Landing would be a shame, if it really doesn't happen. But maybe because of Euron, who could be the one to spoil every plan and prophecy (no plan survives the encounter with the enemy, not even Bloodraven's), the Others could reach all Westeros and maybe beyond, an event that is a true before and after in the history of human kind and not just a flu (no pun intended). They are supposed to be the equivalent to climate change, aren't they? So let them be the Doom that was promised! Thanks.

I doubt Balon Swann will die in Dorne. When Jaime talked to the Kings guards he asked Balon what he would do if his brother Donnel joined an usurper. Balon swore he would not do what Jaime did which leaves room to interpretation. I think this oath will be tested, maybe Donnel joins Aegon and Balon will have returned to King's landing when they attack.

I don't see the point of Ariane's plan, that she proclaim Myrcella queen,?? The rest of Westeros, I wouldn't give it any validity, seems like a plan of bratty boys from noble houses, meaningless. Dorne has little influence with the other regions, who do not want and value them less. Doran Martell would not support him....

To be honest ASOIAaF is dead. Being how GRRM signed off on the HBO series and hasn’t finished the story, HBO is canon and it’s horrible.. the story/world is destroyed.

Don’t like the direction GoT ultimately went, but that doesn’t change my love for the world GRRM created. House of the Dragon is so far looking pretty good and most people seem quite excited for it - some people seem to just love being hyperbolically negative.

@@Zveebo not hyperbolic… just disappointed in how something so good can go so terrible. I loved the books, have on audible, adored the series up to season 5, season 6 I noticed a slight decline and was just hoping to get consistent storytelling going forward… which we all know didn’t happen. ASOIAF started off great, on par with LotR as quality fantasy, characters, storytelling. The show had transitioned it stunningly. Just as Jackson did with LotR. But as GRRM hadn’t finished the story, we’re left with the awful Season 8. It’s as if Tolkien never finished the Hobbit and were left with Jackson’s awful Hobbit films. The books stand on their own, but the story wasn’t finished in print. If he can finish it and we would all probably agree on character consistency being key, but differ on events . Ex: we’d want Tyrion to be consistently cleaver, smart, competent vs how he was portrayed in the show. Daenerys could become the mad queen, but we’d need better build up, not the trash heap 2sec switch of the show. But at this point I really don’t care for the story anymore. I still read LotR, watch the films. I love them. ASOIAF just brings back disappointment and I won’t give $$ to a watch/read a train wreck.

I'm sorry but I must strongly disagree with you regarding the Rings of Power teaser. It looks godawful, and surprisingly cheap/generic for the most expensive show ever made. Kind of surprised you don't see any issue with it.
