The KO punch was just jank, but everything else was literally just the character. The Thunder was because once it gets activated it doesn’t stop, the bolt goes until it hits something. It wasn’t hurtbox shifting on the counter, it was INVINCABILITY FRAMES. In the words of a bald man- Pikachu? Busted.

I feel like specifically mac vs pikachu is such a horrendous matchup for mac. I mean a ton of his matchups are already bad but pika vs mac feels like something else. On another note, what does monika main in ultimate?

​@@Okenpo A quick google search says that the thunderbolt comes out on frame 2 and connects with Pikachu on frame 13. That is pretty ridiculous considering that its impossible to tell if Pikachu uses it if you're close to him and knock him out of lag, and how much reward there is when it hits.

I remember seeing that actually. Only that win was in friendlies which might also have something to do with it. You might be on to something though, if it's true it's hilarious :P

one game was made 20 years ago and had a super rushed development. The other was made by a billion dollar corporation with no rushed development. I know they are both nintendo, but with how big of a company nintendo is atm its inexcusable to be releasing games with these kind of poor functioning abilities and hit/hurtboxes

@@rockyino99 Yet the “rushed” one feels trillions of times better than the “no rushed” one Movement is much smoother and there’s many ways to play a single character unlike the 1 dimensional way you play each character in Ultimate.

@@peluquin98 It's more because all the super good stuff Pika has requires some very strict input discipline. It's very helpful but there are other good characters that can play well without so much practice.

They were both playing well, and that’s what makes the unfair jank so sad. The matches with ESAM were often neck and neck because they both played their souls out, but then the deadlock gets broken by some jank…

@@c1yd335 yeah exactly, both are insanely hard to play but both yield very different results, and have very vastly different advantage and disadvantage states.

@@extonjonas6820 that ganon is hard to play, and pika are hard to play, on a HIGH level, BUT: Pikachu will reap very different rewards for the amount of work you have to do. Ganon requires giga brain thinking, but even with all that hard work, hes capable of much less than pikachu. Someone like joker is hard to play but if u master him hes (debatably) the best character in the game.

KO punch works in the air. It just doesn't have the same properties it would have in the air

I think you can do it off the ledge and transition to grounded ko punch if you're at just the right elevation to put your feet on the stage, kinda like an inverse of how aerial warlock punch works

@@lazyryan3766 totally, it's called a Gazelle punch. That's what he tried to do. However, failed Gazelle punch leads to aerial KO punch

1: this was an online event so it wasn't that insane. That tournament wasn't even stacked. 2: he still is insane 3: there is actually a little mac player in Japan that is arguably the best little mac in Japan called tarakotori

Skyjay and Peanut are champions idc what anyone says. they take the bottom of the barrel and do what nobody else will, through thousands and thousands of match ups and losses to find the way to win. They are the main characters, not the smash gods. I hope to see more low tier mains climb the ladder to prove that experience can trump raw power. Especially when you imagine the fact that peanut has played way more Mac Vs Top Tier matches than top tiers have played vs Mac. So in a way, its all relative to your individual knowledge. But boy does pikachu look like hes from a different game in this set. ESAM knows how to maximize that power. Looked like little mac was in a boss fight every time.

Pikachu is insanely hard to play, especially at a higher level. They’re both amazing players, but sometimes it’s just a matchup difference. ESAM imo isn’t carried, he put just as much time into learning his character as Peanut. (Also in my opinion Pikachu is harder to learn just as a character whereas Little Mac requires a smarter player type in general but not as much time to learn the character itself. tl;dr pika busted but not braindead/a clutch

You know you can praise someone without down talking another, they are both extremely skilled players

@@c1yd335 yeah but esam wins all the time so it’s not very fun to watch. And in this matchup I don’t think it’s very hard at all for Pika, you see esam get like 2-3 stocks just with a b-air strings.

Why yes it does, I’m glad someone asked finally. My friend mains mac cause of peanut, and we actually have an inside joke where we just randomly call out “did you know ko punch has a sour spot” because we found out the hard way one time XD
