It was awesome! Everyone in the comments saw it and we were chanting "Grapes grapes grapes" over and over. Simon and Martina were just like "Well now we have to do it."
I'm so jelly. I'm a newby pastry chef/baker (only graduated a year ago) and I fell in love with Dominique Ansel after reading his book. He talks about the frozen smores in the book and even life lessons of sorts. Totally recommend reading his cookbook Simon and Martina!
Aawww I am so happy to see you wear the little Kirby Cupcake , because I actually prepared a new package of jewelry for you guys last week and I was going to post it tomorrow! 😄 Huge hugs!❤
I got unbelievably jealous and hungry while watching this because ice cream is one of the few treats I enjoy 😭 Especially the frozen s'more, that looks soooo good. I'm gonna go eat spinach and feel sad now
I just want to move to Japan and open a taqueria. Corn in a cup, paletas, carne asada & guisada, al pastor, homemade tortillas, tamales, enchiladas, menudo, caldo de res or pollo (beef or chicken), etc. Lemme feed you, Japan. (I made myself hungry)
LOL I'm from Florida and salt on watermelon is super popular! Growing up on the water, we would crack open a juicy watermelon on a hot summer day on the boat and then dip it into the ocean to get the salty flavor. "We" meaning not myself because I think salt on watermelon is disgusting lol but everyone else did it! So weird
So, sorry if I just don't check out you/your husband enough guys. But like, I'm just now noticing. Simon! You look super buff now! Are you able to carry Martina with ease like a true Dothraki yet? :D
Right? and Martina is looking goooooooood! you guys , the hard work is paying off, and its making me not miss any gym time, and eat clean and get back onntrack, one step in the ladder at a time
We visit Dominique Ansel Bakery Tokyo, the 2017 World’s Best Pastry Chef and eat the limited Watermelon Ice Cream Sandwiches, Corn-on-the-cob ice cream, and Frozen S'More.
In Ohio we have Jeni's ice cream, artisanal, made mostly from local ingredients, and in the summer they have a sweet corn with blackberries flavored ice cream that is delicious. There's also the seasonal goat cheese with cognac fig sauce ice cream which is amazing, and I don't like goat cheese.
On the sign outside, I thought it said the What-a-Melon was 7000¥ instead of 1000¥. I thought we were all gonna have to rewatch all your videos and click the ads to help you pay for it.
bunniedalive same! I was like i wanted to go get that so bad if I ever go to Japan but if it’s $70!!! I don’t know if I could! But it’s good to know it’s only $10 lol
My notif said world's best pasty chef and I was like WUTTT BUT IT'S THE AMAZING BAKERY omg I love pastry chefs, and their art and I'm so happy for you that you got to go there
JS Right? I mean.. What they had looked good and all, but ice cream from the world's best pastry chef is a bit like pizza from the world's best burger joint. Still might be good, but it kinda beats the point.
that's what i was wondering. from the thumbnail i thought the watermelon was gonna be some kind of baked good. kind of strange to go to a bakery renowned for their pastries and skip out on them.
Actually, the fact that there weren't ANY pastries in this "pastry" video bothered me so much that, even 10 hours after watching the video, just now came back to check the comments and see if anyone else has noticed that. (I'm not angry, it was just nagging at me. Like breh... WHERE ARE THE PASTRIES IN THIS PASTRY SHOP!?"
Honestly I love going through your guys older videos and seeing how much you content has improved. Don't get me wrong, it's always be FABULOUS, but you guys have stepped up your game. Keep up the good work! 😊
Wow- this is so cool, Simon & Martina! I always love watching your videos! We have a Dominique Ansel location in NYC. We went and tried there cookie shots & frozen s'mores a little while ago. After watching your video, I looked to see if our location has the What-A-Melon, but unfortunately they only featured it during the 4th of July weekend!! Waaahh :( I hope they get it in again, because now I totally wanna try it! If you wanna see our experience with the cookie shot- you can check out our "COOKIE SHOTS & FROZEN S'MORES" video. One thing I will say is, Rob's cookie shot glass leaked a bit haha. You kinda have to drink them fast or they start to soak through.
Yeah! I live in NYC! :) I wish I knew about the What-A-Melon before!!! I'm planning on going sometime the rest of the week to try the Frozen Marshmallow. I've had their cronuts and their madelines (freshly baked!) are delicious! I've also had some of their other cakes as well. But I've never gotten anything else from the menu. Also their breakfast sandwiches are BOMB!!!
Aw nice! Yeah we've had the frozen s'mores there, but missed their cronut (gotta get there super early). The madelines sound amazing- haven't tried those yet. Hope they bring back the What-A-Melon!! Wanna try it so bad :)
That What-A-Melon dessert reminds me of the ice creams I used to get when I lived in Spain; they would cut out the insides of oranges/lemons and then put either fruits' sorbet insides (instead of the actual fruit), it was one of my favorites! Another great video by the way. 🙌🏻
I just have to pause here (1:00) and say, DANG, Simon... your arms are getting swol !! Good Job! You Dothraki Man Warrior you!!! You'll be able to throw Martina- I mean... delicately pick up Martina and carry her anywhere in no time! ;)
"The World's Best Pastry Chef" ... doesn't show a single pastry ... also lolol at Simon chowing down on the corn one immediately after saying he doesn't like it. Still love you guys, but if you go there again please show us some actual pastries instead of ice cream desserts!
Right, so I'll just add this to the japan to visit list....let's see, if I spend 7mins here.....emmm..... that brings my total trip time to 17months 2weeks and 3 days....
Please do me a favour. You just went to a western style patisserie in Japan but I wondered if you have tried Japanese cheesecake. Why do I ask, you might say? CAUSE in Tranna, we have Uncle Tetsu's Japanese style cheesecake (on Bay near Dundas) . Have you been there? You must go next time you visit here and then do a comparison. P.S. loved this vlog about yummy ice creams. Thanks for sharing!
Luv this place! Their monthly cronuts are amazing (better than the Dominique Ansel cronut I had in NYC) but the s'mores were just a bit too sweet for my taste!
Their frozen smore is indeed heavenly. I love their cheesecakes too. I dont know if they have it there in Japan but you guys should try their cronuts. They change their flavor every month and let me tell you they are delicious. Me and my sister would go to their store in NY super early and fall in line just to get those babies. Im not sure but i think they were the first ones to come up with cronuts?? I remember they say "home of the cronuts" in their boxes.
At first I thought it was a watermelon with frosting or meringue on the side not in the middle. So I'm impressed and shocked that it's a large piece watermelon with ice cream in the cut out. Looks delicious!!!
Finally a place I've actually been to in these videos! I went to the Dominique Ansel bakery in New York City about 3 1/2 years ago. The Frozen S'more was incredible!
I haven't watched it yet, but I wanted to tell you how happy your videos make me. This has been a sucky year - my entire area flooded horrifically last August (my parents lost everything, my dad, mom, and stepmother lived in a hotel for months and my dad and stepmom are still living in a FEMA trailer), we lived with my husband's sister for two months, then when we got to move home I fell off my front porch and damaged my knee in November. I had surgery on it in February and started physical therapy, but because I have fibromyalgia that wound up being one step forward then two steps back. Just when I thought I was about to get over stuff I got shingles, and I've been struggling with that for over a month. I don't need a ladder, I need a damn forklift! But thankfully you guys are part of my life preserver. I see you've posted a new video and I get happy. I see Meems and I get happy. Your content just makes my life more tolerable, and I wanted you to know that. I hope things get easier for both of you as well... Not only is chronic pain hard on the person having i9, it's hard for those who love them to see. Thanks for helping me get through the lifesuck.
Hey simon and Martina, love you guys so much!! I'm a 14 year old and I have been watching you for 3+ years!! I have a question, when will u guys do another eat your sushi??❤❤
