Welcome to the first ever EKG show on The Paramedic Coach channel! In this new series I will be reviewing some of the most common EKG's that we see out in the field, while testing your knowledge along the way.
I always say that cardiology makes the paramedic, the paramedic. Cardiology and pharmacology are two key factors that separate basic life support and advanced life support care. The better you get EKG's before school starts the easier time you will have in class when these EKG's are shown to you in class.
EKG's don't need to be hard and my goal in this series is to get you better at EKG interpretation and maybe we can even throw some 12-Lead EKG in an episode! For national registry exams cardiology is a huge section of the NREMT exam.

Hey Evan, just letting you/ everyone in the community know that I passed my AEMT!!!!!!!!! If you need help and you’re looking for that extra push to take you through the cognitive exam, this is what got me through it! This guy is a miracle worker and I’m so thankful for your help. Hey Evan I just wanted to thank you so much for your video vault it was such a huge help and it helped me pass the NREMT on easy mode as you say. I was wanting to know if you knew any firefighters that provide the same information as you do? Like a firefighter video vault. That would be a huge help thank you!

So when the patients injuries are non life threatening, does the Paramedic/AEMT drive the ambulance, and the EMT-B sits in the back with the patient? And when the patient requires a more advanced level of care, the AEMT/PARAMEDIC RIDES IN BACK?

It depends on the area and company. Some places only allow the paramedic to ride in the back. In my area EMTs are allowed in the back. The rule is if the patient does not require and ALS treatment on scene or there is no suspicion of any need for ALS treatments enroute to the hospital or while the patient stays at the ER. EMTs will usually take the drunk people, the toe pains, and the psychiatric patients that don’t need any restraints or medications.
