When I was an apprentice at ALCOA all the high voltage panels were marked with Property of the USAAF, and were still in operation to the mid 90’s when the plant closed and was sold. All the forging, extrusion equipment along with tube reducers, and draw benches were dismantled and shipped out. A special furnace that was developed by us at the Vernon Works for remelting aluminum chips, and fines was something proprietary to the Vernon Works was torn down. The biggest closed die press at the Vernon Works was their 8,000 ton press.

These machines are impressive. But we have to remember, machinists a century ago made parts of this scale operating and measuring all with their hands on levers and crank handles. Also, they did not have the carbide and diamond cutting tools that are common today. In some ways, what these people did was more impressive than what these Cnc machines can do.
@jeanmeslier9491
@jeanmeslier9491 9 месяцев назад
Thank you for this comment. Even after larger CNC .machines were available, not all companies could afford them. I was a heat treating inspector for many years. We made our measurements with hand tools and made our calculations with slide rules. Sigh, we even had to have complex math skills.. In a way the new ways provide a repeatability that the old manual often could not. I worked at a large aircraft manufacturing company during the transition to macines capable of making multiple identacle parts. Our first machine could make three identicle parts at atime. This machine was not a CNC machine. It was prgrammed and tool changes made all by hand. Remember our old ways were once cutting edge new. I am 83 years old and worked in the metals and aircraft industries as these transitions were taking place. The same things were happening in the Quality Control areas. New Ways of measuring had to be devised. Sometimes I feel like a Time Traveler or someone plucked from one Time and deposited in another . But this time is better. It's always better. There never was a Good Ol'Days.

In its last meeting, the FED bypassed the interest rate increase and stated that it would be satisfied with only 2 increases next year, contradicting the market that expected 4 or 5 interest rate increases. This means that the interest rate will hover around 4.00-4.50 in the USA next year. Because consumer demand is still very dynamic and growth figures are above expectations. This means that consumption demand will also be alive in 2024. Under these conditions, it would be too ambitious to expect an increasing trend in precious metals. I predict that today's figures for gold and silver will be sought in the medium term.
