Anthony was amazing, a true treasure. He cut my great-father's hair, my grandfather's hair, my dad's hair, and later, mine. He would share tales of the 1920's and 1930's with me, of life in Italy and the barter system in place there when he was a child. He told me of scrap metal from the old trolley tracks being used to build tanks and munitions during WWII, of the changes in barbering from health improvements to the growing cost of running one's own business, and many memories of the city of Newburgh and his family. I valued every conversation with him, my last being three weeks before he passed. Soar with the angels of history, my friend.
I just came across this gentlemen on RU-vid what an inspiration I've been doing hair for 44 years have been a salon owner for 42 of those years I want to thank you for inspiring me to continue my passion
This was one of the last videos taken of Anthony. When this was filmed, Anthony was battling jaw cancer and fighting for his life. That’s why he had the band aid on his jaw. R.I.P Anthony
This is so sad 😭😭😭 I can't believe this video was the last week of him being a barber cause literally days after this video was taken he fell while cutting someone's hair and had to be taken to the hospital and then 2 months later he peacefully fell asleep and died. If only he didn't get jaw cancer he could of been a barber for at least 5 more years 😭😭😭
@@marcsoshiesty Anthony was my barber and I last went to him on July 18, which I know now is apparently the day before he fell. I knew he fell in late July, but I always wanted to know the date. I even asked employees of the store if they knew the date, but nobody could tell me. It’s crazy to hear from you that the date was July 19 and I was one of his last customers.
@@marcsoshiesty Where'd you hear that from? He was diagnosed with jaw cancer a few months prior to his death, and numerous websites claim he died after suffering complications from jaw cancer
10 days after this video he fell at work then he was hospitalized then he could no longer work then 2 months later he died and I’m crying from just writing this 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@marcsoshiesty Yes, I met him twice, and the last time was on July 18, 2019. I heard he fell in July, and it really wanted to know that date. It’s crazy to hear it was the day after I was there.
