I am 66 years old and I never heard anyone that can bring together ancient wisdom, religious principles, popular culture, psychology, biology and then produce a profound and useful insight that I can actually use in a practical way the minute after I hear him speak. @Word I did not write that Jordan Peterson is perfect, I wrote that his videos, have been very helpful to me in a very practical way. Quite unlike most professors & psychologists. Your comment reminded me one piece from JP speeches: “If you don’t follow the pathway that you suppose to follow, the seas will come stormy for you and something will come up and pull you down. Growing up having never met my bio father, this man has given me more answers than any other. Saw a comment under one of his videos that said he’s the father to the fatherless generation and this idea genuinely resonates within me every moment I watch his videos. Thank you mr. I have many people I call "internet dads" on youtube I go to for life advice. There is so many basic things my dad never even brought up or cared about that has left me lost for answers. Its shown me so much and makes me grateful for all of these amazing videos out there so we can go on fixing ourselves.

@jack bran Dr. Peterson was prescribed a highly addictive anti-anxiety medication to help cope with the stress of his wife having cancer and multiple complications with the treatment. Deciding to check oneself into rehab to have professionals help you get off them isn't something I would exactly call "being a junkie"

This is perhaps the best - really profound. Aim at the star and the steps will be provided for you. Aim at the mudpuddle in front of you and you might stumble into it. So, aim high, and do the most good.

I listened to Alan Watts intensively few years ago. He really isn't that helpful. I was nihilistic and my psyche was freaking out whenever I wasn't "in the moment". He never considered having an aim in life to be important. His almost whole idea is the acceptance that life has no meaning. After listening to Peterson, I lost that feeling of freaking out and now I know that you need both - presence and aim.

For many of us whose dads shrugged their fatherly responsibilities, Mr. Peterson fills that missing paternal role in our lives really well, if only in limited extent. YinYangHomebwoy , you "should really stop" telling people what they should do in absence of some reasonable explanation. And try to get to know us a bit better before giving us advice.

This is what I have been attempting to do since I retired eight years ago. And in my life, the words of Christ have been borne out. I live well. I’m retired. And I didn’t earn what I have. Except to earnestly attempt to do the will of God as much as humanly possible. With periods of stumbling and failure, of course. But my Father loves me and he will never forsake me.

Some people aren’t ready for it, or willing to face the challenge. Peterson speaks to those who are willing to confront themselves and look into their own darker corners and recesses. It takes a certain amount of courage.

My brother started having memories of our abuse when painting, as he’s an artist. Just go to Michael Hemphill Artist. My problem with a lot of inspirational speeches is that they're lacking in specifics. It's okay and perfectly valuable, but people need far more specific guidance on how to help themselves and concrete, true stories that teach them how it works. There are people out there who are asking how to find their passion in life! Something along the lines of "What color is your Parachute" by Richard Boles (and there may be better books for this purpose) gives much more concrete ideas about what to do. There are many videos of professor Peterson, but they are mostly in the highly abstract and don't give specific guidance. For example, if somebody wants to open up a restaurant, exactly how is this "the highest possible aim?" How do they decide whether to do that or not?! It's a question that depends on the individual even more so than the environment or economic conditions. Telling them "just take the highest possible aim" is too general for beginners who are struggling with these questions.

A buddy of mine was like that. He was so focused on his lil ideas. It almost seemed like he didnt do shit. Hed wake up, do a lil 30 min workout. Do some research. Write up his business model. Aftef that he'll just make beats all day. He had a crew , he would call or email everyone details of what he accomplished amd what he needed them to do. Money would just flow to him. He did nothig all day excpet those things. He had no car, no apt ,. But stayed at houses or apt's. Lol. Sure enough some imvestor gave this nigga 2 million. No joke.

Perhaps it's all there, in those pages; simplicity - in he's 12 rules for life or self authoring program. We all have our dreams, hopes and fairytales; yet it seems we don't carry them out. Even if we did, we would have to limit ourselves to a few of them. Jordan has also spoken about chronic depression vs being depressed due to circumstances in one's life. I believe this is crucial to understand, in order to achieve what Jordans presenting in this video. Actually I am not even gonna continue my argument, its way too complex or perhaps too chaotic. As you see: I cannot even finish a hundred word youtube comment smoothly. I could mention many different solutions to my problem, but theyre blurry and I am lazy. I am not living a horrible life in turmoil and chaos. But a few years of higher education, would give me an enormously much better life. Yet, I don't do it. I am soon 26, and Im getting tired of not "doing my best." Although i often lack energy, I could do more! How? How? How? When? When? When? Edit: typos

To be honest, constant throwing of Christian Old/New Testament verses as self-evident truths at audience's face is kinda obnoxious to people of various other cultural and regional backgrounds who doesn't necessarily subscribe to Judeo-Christian World view - filled with blood, strife & constant guilt-tripping of humankind with only redemption being through a single figure (Christ). I had kinda expected your content to be a bit more universal.. A bit disappointed

To the question of life’s fairness and the people that have been born into situations that are unfair. No one deserves anything, your responsibility is to aim upward (invest your talent and what little you’ve been given). Your most important stewardship that you must maintain at all costs is your heart and it’s posture (the condition of your soil upon receiving the seed). No matter the external conditions (Job), your only responsibility is your heart and it’s focus (who sits on the throne of it) from which everything else flows 1:31|2:07 how can you know this is true before you pursue it? You can’t know, and no one can tell you it is either, you have to pursue it in faith for yourself, that’s what faith is

The Ark built by Noah had very specific blueprints recorded in Scripture. No rudder or steering apparatus is mentioned in those blueprints. God sealed Noah and his family into the ship and God was the only one captaining that vessel. We do everything we can to follow God's instructions and at the end of the day it's still grace that brings us safely to dry ground. And in fact, even His instructions have grace built into them.

It's not about the highest good as one can conceive it. That's a blatant perversion of what Christ said. The Kingdom of God is not some subjective good. It is the objective reality, the order of God. It can't be moulded to suit subjective agenda or self actuated ambition.
