With the lower barrel compressed with air at 4500 psi, I'm wondering what would happen if the gun was dropped on concrete or a rock.

And not just that, but...they put the damn thing as far away from your face as possible. All the way down at the other end of the gun. Why not put it closer to where your eyes actually are? 😆

If it's like any other PCP rifle the gauge is on the bottom end of a bottle that you can unscrew from the rifle. And you'd obviously clear the rifle before looking at the gauge, though normally you wouldn't even look at it. You'd notice the droop in your groupings and just swap the bottle out, no need to look at the gauge while the bottle is on the rifle. Personally I prefer a lever operated gas ram over PCP. But I've never seen anyone at the range stare at the business end of their rifle to read the gauge. Any decent air rifle, even a .177 is powerful enough to seriously injure or kill a person.

I can see it taking down a deer, but how about a moose or a bear...or a bull? "1200 foot pounds" doesn't say much to someone like me who doesn't shoot. Would this leave an exit wound in a person, or just stay inside? I thought there were shots that looked like they weren't even going through the plywood

@@jasonvoorhees895 Lets just say that, you get more penetration with a smaller round, a large hollow point is not going to penetrate as much (no through and through on a soft target) but it will ruin someone's day... now, with all that been said, it really depends on the distance, the rifle shoots subsonic and the heavier the round the faster it loses velocity, that is why in the video at 100 yards he had the crosshairs almost a foot above where he intended to shoot. As far as using such a rifle to hunt moose or bear, hmmm, shot placement counts.

@@raksh9 it was Filipino made, here in Philippines, probably they have lathe machine, rest was hand made, I'll ask my uncle coz he's the one ordered it. We have an even older customed airgun, built in pump, .177cal, early 60s

Point taken, late 60s early 70s, modified versions or customed airguns in those days are derivative from original brands like daisy or crossman, hunting certain wildlife is ok but today is outlawed. Later on it's impractical to improve or invest in it's development, it's unprofitable, market is small, unlike in big countries.

@@om617yota8 Your probably right . A London gunmaker called Harman Barne also produced the first repeating rifle at the same time for Prince Rupert I believe . This operated by swinging the trigger guard out 90° , allowing ball From one section in the butt, the powder from another section to follow it , cooking the hammer and allowing the pan to fill all in one motion , before pulling the trigger to fire . Kind of like the action of an RCBS powder measure with an extra stage . But when you compare this to the amazing clocks that formed the centrepieces of the noble dining tables , this was a comparatively easy thing to accomplish .

That was only about as powerful as a 9mm pistol bullet. _Very_ far from "one of the most powerful air rifles to this day".

I'm especially interested in 'em cuz we can't have firearms in euroland. Our rules are even more eldritch and labyrinthine than yours. I can have a longbow, as long as the string is off, because then it's considered a stick. If I put the string on it's a weapon I can go to prison for. But air rifles are fine and not dangerous. 🤪

@@MrRedeyedJedi depending on what slug you use. I stated depends on the slug to achieve 1500ftps. So its more then 1200. I've seen way too many RU-vid videos of people with the aea 72 Cal Zeus and they shot up 1,080 something grain bullet and got 1,500 ft lb. And I saw a particular video of a guy comparing it to a desert eagle. He did the chronograph etc. Check a bunch of vids out on the Zeus and you will see what I'm talking about because if you're saying it stops at 1200 foot pounds then you must not know much about it. Like I said the foot pounds depends on what grain of slug it is you're using and heavier the grain the more foot pounds you get.

@@MrRedeyedJedi also in this particular video that you and I are commenting on the guy uses a 500 grain slug which creates 1200 foot pounds. So imagine using a 1080 something grain slug. At 1200 goes to 1500.

Yes, actually .22, .25., .30 and .35 are most useful airgun calibers where you do see a lot of use. .72 single shot is kind of useless when you can get a shotgun for really cheap price for that once in a blue moon when you need 500 grain slugs going out at 1500 fps. Shotguns are also multishots to and much more versatile than this monster air gun.

Just stick with Aspen i have one in .25...great prepper gun...self contained enough fire power for small game, you won't starve...but with the probe you can use any external pumping device, hand pump, compressed air tank or compressor...the accuracy is great, side lever is fast although Chinese (my first gun) it has all the bells shoots everything pellets and slugs...great bang for the buck.

Or just get a compressor and all your air needs will me met forever. You can buy cheap ones at Walmart.

@@mr1234tempo in an off grid emergency prepper situation, would you be able to take large game with the aspen25?

@@stompingpeak2043 the reason for purchase would be to have something in addition to my current weapons that wouldn’t require cartridge ammo or a compressor, external pump etc. Easily being able to carry, and stockpile large amounts of ammo that is resistant to humidity and temperature for long periods of time is ideal. The ability to cleanly take large game when traditional ammo would become difficult to find is also preferable.

It doesn't use "live ammo" so there is no way of having a misfire.

Just blow out around the seals sending particulates back at shooters face. It has to be a big volume of air dumped per shot. Has to go somewhere if it’s not moving the slug down the barrel.

A 12 Guage is 50 Cal. Or, the 50 BMG fits perfectly and can be fired out of a 12 Guage anyway.

You don't want to go supersonic with air, transitioning back too quick makes tumble. Easier to go subsonic slow and FAT. The energy transfer is unlike anything else powderburner that isn't an elephant gun.

I've seen 50 cal air rifles but I was thinking with a little fabrication work and some testing maybe someone could make that monster 72 cal into a high power 50 cal air rifle capable of who knows what with out actually trying to do the fabrication and testing could just blow the gun up or it could shoot further with higher mussel velocity and may need special ammo instead of hollow point but I'm only speculating at this point

Yes, it the air rifle was used in Lewis and Clark expedition.

The “bell” was unscrewed from the rifle and pressurised with a pump. Then it was screwed back on.

Actually the first air gun was developed around 1580 and they developed from there.

Air rifles were made long before then. Check out the Girardoni for an impressive air rifle.

This is already pushing rounds into the black powder range... my black powder .577 3 band Enfield pushes out a 500 grain slug at about 1100fps. Which isn't much faster than this...

@Ben States Liquid air phase change can go 70K+ psi in a cylinder. Almost impossible to contain! But at that pressure, you could drive rifle bullets instead of pellets.

Well I mean they don't beat regular firearms but they are still fun to shoot. They also will get some hunting done as well. I love to plink around with airgun or bbs but the real bullets are also great.

@@stompingpeak2043 A Sam Yang Big Bore 909 PCP air rifle shoots a .444 lead roundball at 950 FPS. In 8 shots it only drops down to 820 FPS, time to recharge. It will fire a heavy lead muzzleloader Buffalo slug at 750 FPS. Yeah, that’s well within firearm capability. It’s faster to get 8 shots than a blackpowder Hawken, and fires about like a Hawken .45 muzzloader packed with 50 grains FFG blackpowder. (instead of full 65 or 70 grains)

@@boomstick4054 idk. Pretty sure black powder is just as fast. Actually faster with modern weapons and pre load(breach loaders basically have pre made bullets with charges) compared to the standard old school method. Even regular loaders only take a few seconds to reload. They are probably the most fun to shoot. Sure air rifles are fun but they are nowhere close to a good loader. Probably the best time you'll have plinking or shooting in general. I still love air guns tho.

The thing I like about the big bore air rifles though is the hunting and in some states there isn't regulations on them plus you can shoot them just about anywhere outside of city limits that's why I'd take one over a real gun

@@travislupum That's interesting I forget that you can't shoot guns as freely in some places. Here in AZ there's a lot of state land and BLM managed land where you can legally shoot. But if you didn't have that the air gun would prolly be nice.

@@K0sm1cKid I live in arizona as well up north and Arizona has zero regulations for hunting with airguns as far as I know I was born and raised on the real thing but even then it's getting harder and harder to find places to go plant lead farms

With a lead round? Depends on the material but it would most likely just go splat. My black powder rifles push a 500 grain round to 1200fps, and they don't even mark an ar500 plate. It just splatters. Makes a slight dent in 3mm steel. You would need to develop a round with a metal core to get any kind of decent penetration.

I completely don't understand where your problem with it lies at all, (that is assuming you buy the refilling station with it as well, though it isn't at all necessary for hunting applications). It's an entirely practical set-up. Consider this, the power only starts to taper after 5 shots, meaning you have AT LEAST 6-7 shots that can each EASILY down a deer or something considerably larger, (a 50 cal airgun is all you need for deer hunting). If you need more shots than that you are either doing something very wrong or illegal. Now when it comes to simple target practice what does it matter at all as you are already going to be staying in one area, so wherin lies the problem? See why I don't get your comment? It's much cooler in my opinion. You can still go deer hunting and a single charge lasts waaaay longer, I'm guestimating maybe 20 shots, it's not made clear. However as a super-badass feature this airgun also fires crossbow bolts and with more power than any crossbow you can buy, (I currently own last years most powerful crossbow and this made me a bit jealous lol). I would probably favor this 50 cal. Also this is a really cool youtube channel if you've never come across it before, (Demolition Ranch). He showcases alot of interesting firearms.

Dragging a suitable air compressor to support this is kind of like improving the range and flow of one of those Super Soaker water guns by connecting it to an air hose to increase the range and a garden hose so you don’t have to refill it.

Louis and Clark explored the west of the USA, back in the day, with air guns. I don't remember any specifics, other than they used air rifles. Pretty cool and dam interesting, to know many nations were using the same type of weaponry.

@@stoneyswolf what do you mean? a 55 grain m193 round out a 20-inch barrel produces around 1200-1300 ft/lbs and that's being generous. This thing is at what? Around 1500? Yeah, your damn right I would take the much heavier bullet with more energy that's going to leave a much, much bigger hole for the bear to bleed out from. I can virtually guarantee you this airgun would drop a black bear a lot faster from a lung shot than an ar. The bare minimum bullet weight that should be used for bears is around 150 grains and 180-grain bullets are more preferable. Literally, triple a 5.56. So, how about not talking out of your ass when you have no idea what you talking about especially when you could go read forum post after forum post agreeing with me that bullet weight is more important than raw energy for bears.

@@anthonyjones8043 while your loading another round I've dumped a 30 round mag. I can swap mags faster than you can reload another shot. The AR is a very versatile weapon and can be chambered in a variety of different calibers that will out perform that air rifle.

There isn't much to improve on. I believe only England has made heavy use of pneumatic weapons during warfare. In the end miniature explosions using powder is cheaper and more reliable. Rail guns are a technology we are improving on though!

@@applesandpairs7691 lol yes it would, I've shot heaps of rats with one of my 1.77 cal rifles and at 1400 fps it realy messes a rat up with a good head shot using hollow or flat headed pellets, i have 5,5 cal rifles too and one of them ts the Artemis GR1600W and thats realy powerfull though I've never tested it on a rat before because 1,77 is more than effective for even the largest of rats, so this thing would make a rat go splat in a big way deffo 🤣👍

The only real difference between airguns and firearms is the method of propelling the bullet, one uses a small explosion to build pressure to lob the bullet, the other uses compressed air pressure. So recoil is always a factor. ^.-.^
