I never knew my Grandma's religion. I assumed how much she smoked she must've been either Methodist or Baptist. My mom's side grandma is what you'd probably guess when thinking the only religion a Pole might be.
I am sensing a pattern here. Mohammed, Joseph Smith, Brian Simmons all claim to have been visited by a supernatural being(God or an angel) who gives them "special" insight into the Bible, insight that had been lost. The amateur strategist in me sees it as an effective attack. Either drive people out of the Faith due to the sheer ridiculousness or mire them in a doctrine that renders them completely ineffective. The Christian in me says we must combat this with sound doctrine.
The Bible itself warns against this, and by the examples you mention here it is clear why. It is an extremely effective tactic that the devil likes to use
Lol who visited Moses? Noah? Abraham? Etc.? I don't think they saw a Roman rising from the tomb. Do you? Is Christ not going to visit the people on Earth when he comes back? I mean at least be consistent. Just because you don't believe anyone at all ever again could be visted after Biblical times doesn't make it true. The Jews also said Jesus was a blasphemer, liar & wanted him imprisoned, some worse. But sure, sure it's your interpretation your law right?!
@@JohnDoe003 The problem isn't that they were visited by a supernatural being. It's that said supernatural being taught them a different gospel, one that is antithetical to the Gospel that is written. 2 Corinthians 11:12 to 15 "And I will keep doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve." also Galatians 1 6-8 "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel - which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel of heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse.
@@JohnDoe003 The problem isn't that they were visited by a supernatural being, it's that the being preaches an antithetical message to the Gospel. Satan can masquerade as an angel of light after all, and anyone human or angel preaching a different gospel is subject to God's judgement. 2nd Corinthians 11 verses 12 to 15 and Galatians 1 verses 6 to 9
Deuteronomy 33:2 And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.
well theres soem discrpencys betwen soem documents but majority it hasent. i wish i knew hebrew and greek becuase exotericaly peaople say "its the same" but esotericaly it is SOOO DIFFRENT!, lots athiest and christains use the same auguments and am glad to see unique takes as well from both sides. as listening to one side and not other is steps for self-brainwashing.
Exactly. The Bible isn't broken. The true Bible actually warned us of false prophets. This man may have lied to himself so much that he may genuinely believe He was visited by God. So he is right in his own eyes, and the Bible mentions many times that a man who's righteous in his own eyes is foolish. Also, if Lauren Daigle and a pastor with a ponytail support this translation, you know it's bad. Christians are meant to stay conservative, since we are not of this world to begin with. We mustn't blend in with it and then proclaim God as hypocrites.
Your AI sounds a lot like a verbatim quote of a tweet of mine. Haha A couple quick things. 1. Michael W Smith revoked his endorsement of TPT shortly after I shared about it online. Good move on his part! 2. Brian does have some training from New Tribes (a missionary group) but according to sources at New Tribes (now called Ethnos 360) not enough to call himself a trained Bible translator in a way that he could do what he claims to do today. He’s definitely not qualified in any traditional sense. Thanks so much for making this video and helping more people be warned about Simmons! One day I’ll release a monster video with all his weird teachings in it. I’ve already got hours and hours of footage that would shock people and help them realize how problematic he is. Sadly.
Whoa easy, Mike, I didn’t steal it from your tweet… I stole it from your Facebook 😜 Jokes aside, I meant to throw that in the description but I was so worried about people’s carbon monoxide health that I forgot. Let the record show I care more about brain damage prevention than plagiarism lol. Thanks for the update on those! I hope everyone watches your passion project ❤️
Just the fact that it's called The PASSION Bible would scare me away, as Christians are called to daily do battle with our passions! Glad I never even heard of this fake "translation" before!
I strongly dislike the passion translation as well, but the word passion actually also means “the suffering and death of Jesus Christ” and is used within the Bible. In Acts 1:3 “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs” I wouldn’t throw out this word entirely, just a thought.
As Pentecostal we don't claim this in fact glory be to god for exposing this foolishness the last few years I have seen more and more people riding themselves of this hersey. Keep praying that the truth is exposed and that those in deception can see the light amen🙏🙏
That’s awesome! For the record, although I am not a Pentecostal now, I grew up Pentecostal and have loads of Pentecostal friends who love the Lord dearly :) i pick on them out of love and to give them a hard time for the weirdos that try to leach off of them ♥️
"If God touched you right there, what would it do?" How on earth should anyone know that? It could be anywhere from nothing to something approaching infinity. There's no reason to think that that precise spot would necessarily be the only area affected, nor to know what God intended the touch to physically do.
@xfrostyresonance8614 The same church that was conquered by the caliphates and mongols ect ect ect throughout the centuries? Only Rome stands unconqured, unbroken succession and supremacy. Do not get me wrong; your Sacraments are valid; but there is only One True Church. You cannot read the Gospels honestly and believe that Christ and the Holy Spirit allowed the Pillar and Bulwark of Truth to be conquered by Muslims. Your Bishops made a terrible error when it was politically easy; the creation of the Byzantium Empire and her "new" church.Full stop. I pray in my lifetime that we are united; as Christ wants. Praise be Our Lord!
I was laughing at the start of the video, but once "passion" was hinted and later on was revealed, my jaws dropped. I've been reading TPT for a while thinking it was a "good" translation because (as I thought) explains a verse in a much more subtle context than as compared with NKJV or ESV, but was this an eye opener, literally!! Thank God for this video!
Praise God you’re here, friend! My wife and I were actually supporters of the first launch back in the day when we were blind to all of this. And then the truth hit us like a semi truck. It was wild. God bless you!
The algorithm showed me this video. I'm so glad that I saw it, because you are hilarious, and informative, and I love you (in Christ) and want to be your best friend
I hijacked Daniels phone. We just watched this together on our cozy Sunday evening hiding from the storm outside. The thumbnail really caught my eye and we simply couldn’t get enough. Facts on facts and the humor goes a long way dealing with these painful truths. I loved every single second. TEN!!! Perfect video, oh so good
I love the video. My biggest issue with guys like this is that because they claim to be a prophet, they claim complete infallibility and deny the idea of development because they believe they as they are have been chosen by God. If we look at the prophets through history, they were chosen because of their potential, not because of their skills while as a chosen prophet. You simply won't have God touch your brain to implant a better brain to comprehend him with unless you're undergoing transfiguration, and if that's the case, this man would treat that experience with a lot more sacredness. Truly, there is no end, nor limit to how deeply we can understand God in our current estate as long as we continue to make daily repentance and grow as an individual through God
People should stop doing this. So much claim to be chosen, to have TRULY seen Him, but to glorify himself is wrong, for God is the only one who deserves glory.
Thank you so much for this video and thank God for placing it on feed bc I attended a church for like 2-3 years online that uses it and safe to say, I’m no longer attending. Also, deleting a bunch of songs from my playlist after seeing that list.
This is one of the best Christian videos I’ve seen that isn’t just some interview or explaining doctrine. Since I’m okay at editing, my church had me make some videos for them for Sunday, and you would do amazingly if they gave you the chance. Definitely subbing, great video 😁👍
@@carlose4314Well, it is in one way, and that's its incredibly strong emphasis on family life. That is one thing Mormonism got right, because it was ripped from the apostolic churches.
The fact that some dude got a dream that he saw jesus and made a whole testament and people accepted it and then some other dude claimed he saw "Jesus" and people are making fun of him makes me wonder Why did people accept the first guy who had a vision and deny and accuse the second of being crazy?
Thanks for this concise video. I have heard a few quips about the passion bible, but haven't looked into it. I now know to avoid it, and be able to respond quickly and gently if I encounter someone reading or talking about it.
As a new Christian I was warned how some translations can be problematic, if not downright demonic. I was naive enough to doubt that could truly be the case. But by going to regular bible study I've been surprised by how different different translations can be. And usually the differences are not so much thematic, but grammatical. But even the differences between NIV and ESV are at times so different that they can convey entirely different images of the scene being described... The suggestion toward the beginning about the MSG being good for beginners, I'd scrap that idea. The other, more accurate versions are so easy to read, why dilute the message. Unless your target audience is small children, send newcomers to the clearest waters. They taste better.
As a lifelong Christian, first, glad to hear you accepted Jesus! Second, I struggled with reading the Bible for years due to the difficulty of understanding the way in which everything was written. It wasn't until I was 30 that I learned I had autism and I think that made it harder to grasp some of the concepts and tone. Recently I learned of a translation called God's word and so far it is easier for me to understand than KJV or NIV. Somrle translations are just better for some people than others... within reason.
"God appeared to me and told me to create a new bible" "Hey! I've seen this one before!" This is what happens when you hijack charismatic teachings and go from being filled with the Holy Spirit to being filled with the spirit of some dude who's high on his own farts. The sad thing is, many people don't really understand how harmful this version is, and they don't even know who Brian Simmons is. They just see it as being really vivid and dramatic, so they use it without knowing any better.
As a Catholic I like that we don’t have too many approved translations, because it keeps things consistent. We have like the NAB, NABRE, and the RSV-CE. That’s it. The Church is really specific with how she likes her Bibles.
6:00 i was on a train under Boston one day and i read a sign. In English and Spanish it said "emergency exit in the back" except the words in Spanish, of which there were way more" literally translated to something along the lines of. "The place where you go to in case of emergencies its located all the way in the back." I'm definitely exaggerating, this was over 10 years ago, but the sign I'm sure still exists. Also, that's not what Brian here is doing, i just wanted to chime in
@@iwikepops I'm not even close to fluent in Spanish but i have an honors Latin background and i can find my way around France and Quebec. Enough to get a good sense for what each word might mean.
@@iwikepops I'm still working on my first read through in English. I have made real progress these past few months though i skipped the second half of numbers and Deuteronomy and I'm at 2nd Samuel now. I've also read the gospels, acts, some of the epistles, Job, and jonah all the way through.
Your videos are really good. This is the first actually good Christian video essay channel I have found, and I really appreciate it. After watching this video, I went and watched all of your other videos, and they were all amazing. I was very sad when I found out you had less than ten videos. Subscribed.
Thanks man! I’m really stoked to get more videos out! Been a crazy few weeks on my end so production has been delayed but I’m working hard to get it done 🙏 thankful for your support!
@@richardthelionheart01 when it was being developed, it was considered a paraphrase. Today it is viewed as a translation. We are talking way back when, not now
Revelation 22:18 of the Bible warns that God will add plagues to anyone who adds to the words of the prophecy in the book of Revelation. The verse says, "If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues (afflictions, calamities) which are written in this book"
1:17 THE INNER MECHANICIANS OF MY MIND ARE AN ENIGMA 2:47 as a former cult member i can confirm (i wasn’t really a member but i did witness exactly this)
Of course a *Wingaling* would trust these dishonest "scholars" over a prophet, and we KNOW Brian is a prophet; look at all the amazing things he's told us that he's done! Do you expect me to believe he just made a lot of stuff up to try and give credibility to his work? A true prophet would *never*do that!
I guess bro, hasn't heard of Revelation 22:18-19 [18] I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, [19] and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
The first thing I thought of when I heard about the passion translation was Matthew 7:15 (NLT) The verse reads "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves"
I do find it fitting that it’s called the passion translation. If I remember correctly there’s several passages where God finally stops reaching out to people and leaves them without the Holy Spirit and describes it as leaving them to their own passions.
Most translations don't have Matthew 17:21. Matthew 18:11. Matthew 23:14. Mark 7:16. Mark 9:44 and 9:46. Mark 11:26. Mark 15:28. Luke 17:36. Acts 15:34 Acts 24:6-8 Acts 28:29 Romans 16:24 1 John 5:7-8 Because KJV has these verses
Daniel C recommended your video here, and I'm grateful he did. This was an enjoyable time learning what a steaming heap of bovine scatology this fairy tale using a spattering of Christian-ese is from your perspective. Witty and informative, I like it. I also enjoyed Melissa Dougherty's marvelous video on what is great about TPT. Thanks for this, keep up the good work! Sincerely, Kathy, a new fan and subscriber from Alberta, Canada.
Welcome, Kathy! Daniel is a dear brother of mine so I’m glad to see that. Very grateful to God that you are here. We could sure use some of that Canadian weather out here in Arizona! God bless you!
The passion translation is scary for the same reason that it would be scary if you bought a bag of rice and saw that it had over 300 ingredients, instead of one ingredient: rice.
By far, one of the funniest Christian commentary video I have ever seen, nice work, ever since I got my King James Bible, I didn’t understand, until I got to read it, and I learned about the other translations, I have to say the Passion Translation is possibly the goofiest translation of all times.
