Uh.. I had to dnf 'American Dirt', I hated it... And if I'm being honest, I was pretty disappointed by 'Normal People'

I dnf'd the Binding pretty early because it was just too SLOW. Also I had no idea this book was even supposed to feature a romance until I heard you mention it haha It's a shame because the main premise of the MC's memories bound in a book sounded so cool and the cover is stunning.

I already didn't get on with Wilder Girls that well, so definitely will be skipping Burn Our Bodies Down I think!

I really liked The Family Upstairs but would agree it’s not a thriller. If you want a book about someone inheriting a large mysterious house that’s actually a thriller try the stranger in our home by Sophie Draper

I feel you on the Binding blurb! Its definitely one where its best to know as little is possible, especially in this case where the blurb is sooooo misleading. Super slow magical realism romance is a much better description

I'm so sad you didn't enjoy the Binding. I also thought the blurb was misleading because I really enjoyed the actual bits about bookbinding but it was just set dressing in the end :( I do agree with most of your points but I did ultimately enjoy it. You never know lol

Haven't read Burn Our Bodies Down but I read Wilder Girls in 2020 and was left quite disappointed by it :( Imo it had so much potential but it ended up being rather underwhelming. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts if you decide to pick it up! 💛

I'm so glad I found your video before reading The Binding, I was really intrigued by it but that trigger warning is an absolute no for me.

Fortunately the books that I read passed. The only one that failed was Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I already filmed a reading vlog about my experience, so that is why I didn't bother filming a disappointing/worst reads video for 2020 (plus it was only Six Of Crows who failed anyway).

If you like the trope where people unexpectedly receive a lot of money the ultimate book with that plot is Great Expectations by Dickens and it’s not long like his other books and not difficult to read at all !

i wanted to like the family upstairs so bad. at the beginning i really liked it and was so excited find out what happens but then the rest of the book just went downhill. plus i hated the whole ‘gay person is a predator/stalker’ trope like it was just so icky. there’s one gay character and they’re a stalker 🙄

I got the family upstairs from my library, and funny enough, I saw the binding there and told myself I'll grab it next time. ~~~~ minor spoilers for the family upstairs ~~~~~~~ I just finished the family upstairs, and personally it wasn't that bad. I do agree the main character was definitely stupid, and I was a bit grossed out with some of the characters and their actions, but I did enjoy the plot itself with the families taking control over the house. ~~~~ spoiler end ~~~~~~ For the binding, guess that's a no for me now! The blurb was definitely super interesting, so I'm glad my time was saved!!

My worst books of the year were def the Lunar Chronicles and the first two books of the Darkest Minds series.... I DNF'd the third book in the DM series cause I just couldn't bring myself to read the rest

I read The Family Upstairs. I didn’t hate it but it wasn’t my favorite by Lisa Jewell. It was so disturbing how that guy just took over!

gosh i hated the binding so much! and the convo between the guys when they realize the baddies gonna die was like "oh shit he's gonna die" "yea...we should do something..." "yea...too bad we're busy" "oh well" whaaaaaat. they were so ridiculously selfish and honestly their romance was so poorly developed. why did the author act like a young girl hanging out with this boy was okay but people would start talking if two boys the same age hung out together???

YES!!! So much Yes!!! The Binding was one of my worst books of 2020 as well. I was so hyped for this book, not just, because it was a book about books, but because I am a bookbinder and reading about my profession in a sort of fantasy setting was a dream come true. And than there was essentially no bookbinding being done at all. And I absolutely hated, that there were no consequences at all for the bad guys. The setting was so intriguing and the author could have done so much more with this world she build were the rich could do anything, because they could just make people forget. That would have been a great set up for a revolutionary story, with the bookbinders and their powers at the front. But no, all the protagonist does is burn down the library of one man and kiss a boy... But at least the book is pretty XD

Bookish books are my jam but _The Binding_ doesn't sound like anything I want to read.

I thought I was the only one that seemed to not like the binding I thought I had missed something and I was a bit confused by the blurb and what the book actually turned out to be but this has installed confidence in the fact that I infact did read the right book and you also hated it 😂

I picked up the binding knowing nothing about it , I really loved it (the first half 5/5, the second 4, and the third 3) but I love slow and atmospheric books

I'm reading the Wilder Girls and... I'm not liking it. I feel the same thing as you feel ready Burn Our Bodies Down, I'm bored, I dont like any character and I don't like the main protagonist decisions. I'm just pushing it bacause there's another character that's so crazy that I kinda wanna know what they'll do and,even tho I think the book is bad, Is that kind of bad that makes me intrigued to know how the author will wrap up the story, you know? Anyway, I'm excited to know what you'll think about Wilder Girls

u guys should read dot huchinson’s butterfly garden from her collector series, just read it and reply me what do u think of it. one of my friends recommended it to me and after that read we are not friends anymore. it’s the most stupidest dumb ya style written adult thriller book ever and the ending, GOD F ING KILL ME!!!!

I was so disappointed in The Binding as well. I felt like the story was quite boring and just lacked something for me. It's a pity as the book has such a gorgeous cover.

I think you might enjoy books by Val mcdermid. Her books are amazing
