Jeremy Clarkson and James May will present their opinions on The Worst Car in the History of the World in a brand new, all exclusive Top Gear DVD.
Jeremy and James travel to the North of England to name and shame the most rubbish cars in the entire WORLD. It's a labour-intensive affair, filled with heated debates, giant cranes, James being locked in his own car boot and...Jeremy being tied to a tree.
But don't be fooled, it's not all about terrible cars -- to appreciate the stinkers you have to revel in some good ones too -- like the 4.5 litre Ferrari 458 Spider, Toyota's GT86 and the £340,000 Lexus LFA running shoulders with a Mercedes SLS AMG.
As they are up North, the boys invite The Stig's Yorkshire cousin to be a guest driver. Putting his whippet to one side he throws the BMW M5 round a gymkhana course before testing out a couple of Transatlantic challengers with Jeremy and James. Things, you won't be surprised to hear, don't go according to plan.
The debate about The Worst Car in the History of the World continues while the boys play a few rounds of golf. But that doesn't go according to plan either. They even put their own cars -- past and present --into the reckoning. That ends badly too.
The rest of the time up North is spent arguing over the great and the awful from Peugeot, Ford, Mahindra, FSO, Alfa Romeo, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Citroen, Saab and many more.
There's also a special surprise fate in store for the car picked as the biggest loser...

The problem is that they tried to make the new team fit into the mould/format formed by the old team, rather than letting the new team work out what worked for them. Top Gear existed before the Clarkson/May/Hammond lineup as well, but it was different, because they made it their own, what suited them and their style. Which is what the new team should have been allowed to do as well.

Really that bad? I tried to watch American Top Gear and really tried to like it but just could not get into it at all. During my last visit to Paris I watched a bit of Top Gear France and although I did not understand all of it, it seemed not bad.

@@brumav9779 What we no longer design in the UK is cheap mass market personal transport. Far better to import that from Europe and the Far East. Our minimum wage is too high to support such scales of mass production. The Chinese can pay less than a dollar an hour, the US uses prison labour to help offset the costs of manufacture and Europe uses robotics to reduce staff levels. What we in the UK do amazingly well is small production high performance cars, such as the offerings from Ariel, Caterham, Ginetta, Morgan, McLaren and Noble. Our motorsport research, development and production is nothing to sniff at either, some of the largest manufacturers have dedicated motorsport facilities here in the UK. In many motorsport disciplines the UK is at the very centre of vehicle research, design and manufacture. On the whole I think the British car industry is perfect for the size of the UK market. We really don't need a return to the bad old days of strikes, unions, 3 day weeks and the rest of the world ripping on us for terrible quality.

I see tons of cars from 2005 and up. Going through all the cars I saw and remember on a road trip I just finish, the majority were less than 10 years old. That's part of the problem with using anecdotes as evidence and why anecdotes are not good evidence. Your anecdote is not sufficient to support the claims you made. If you have actual data, then I'd be interested.

Watching the DVD multiple times over, the basic premise of showing the good cars is the comparison - not only to competitors but also to themselves. The 458 Spider is used to illustrate that Ferrari knows what it's doing right now, and illustrates with the Mondial and F50 the exact opposite. In a similar vein, Toyota and the Lexus LFA and Toyota 86/GT86, compared to the Lexus SC430.

This was my very first exposure to top gear ever after my dad bought the dvd (probably thought it was a movie or something). At the time I thought it was just Jeremy and James so I didn't get the joke at the end. I thought Richard was the CEO of the car manufacturer or something and that they gave him the car as if to say "your car sucks take it back".

They said in the full the full episode that if a car was bad but very cheap, it means you would expect it to be bad and therefore it can't be called the worst car ever. The Tata is a perfect example.

JerQ, actually, you are wrong. Stretched pixels have been used to save storage space in the past. Like in the early days of 'full hd' where they used 1440x1080 resolution but with stretched horizontal pixels when the aspect ratio of the video was 16:9. This was also the case with the digital television format. When they switched between 4:3 and 16:9 the resolution of the broadcast never changed, just the *pixel aspect ratio.*

Phen0mable Weź pod uwagę że do Anglii bardzo często emigrują ludzie którzy nie zaliczają się do elity narodu.Są beznadziejni w Polsce, są beznadziejni i na wyspach. W dodatku Clarkson nie jeździ tylko po polakach. Jeździ równo po wszystkich, turkach, anglikach, irlandczykach, niemcach, absolutnie każdym, i używa do tego stereotypów. Ale za każdym razem gdy Clarkson coś powie o polakach zaczyna się gównoburza. Trochę dystansu do siebie, poczytaj trochę więcej tekstów Clarskona, a zrozumiesz że Clarkson nawet Polskę lubi. Tylko że słyszy się jedynie o przypadkach gdy powie coś niemiłego. A polonez jest kiepskim samochodem gdy się go porówna z tym co się działo na zachodzie w tym okresie. Dla nasz jest kultowy (sam uwielbiam borewicze), ale niektóre rzeczy po prostu się nie bronią.

That's interesting because i had a 97 corolla and it never gave me any problems at all. I sold it with 248,000 miles on it on it and it's still going today some 4 years later.

Worse yet...did you know toyota built the same cavalier only its right hand drive? Look up toyota cavalier. I beg to differ also....the 93 hyundai excel...the suspension dept. Didnt own a dictionary with the word handling, g force, lateral acceleration, or any acceleration in fact, in it.....it got 40 to 50 mpg, but the timing belt went just after the warranty, the transmission went...also after the warranty and thats if you got the auto, the 5 speed tranny was genius in those and the accent gt, also the car pretty much fell apart, the kia rio was second runner up if not contender for worse piece of junk in the world. I had a pet fly that outlived both of those cars. Cavaliers were great though, after you spun a bearing in the engine, you just buy another for 350 bucks. A one night stand with your cherry picker, the cavalier, a few beers, and some wrenches, and you have the same cavlier running the next day. The z24 was the best though.

I had a manual Pinto (don't laugh) and handled it well. I could spin it around a few times on the road and continue "forward"! ...anyway a friend of mine bought a new Toyota Supra and I challenged him to a race knowing I'd lose. We raced on a straightaway from Goat Island Resort (Summerton SC) and I beat him (don't know how but I did). I nearly blew the engine giving it everything it had...good old days I guess LOL

Daewoo Espero. I owned one for a couple or years until I blew the second headgasket in one year. But also in the years previous to that, it never, ever was without defects for a single day. I drove like a dream though, when it was willing to, which was not too often.

I own two Lexus' and am a big fan of many Toyota products, but James and Jeremy were totally right: The SC430 was an expensive, disappointing, unforgivable turd that should never have come in to being, much less be produced for so long. For years during my visits to manufacturer/dealer car shows the Lexus section would feature another god damn SC430: "PEBBLE BEACH EDITION." Totally embarrassing that the company would promote such pretentious, undeserved crap. Please recycle these cars only where the recycler melts the metal.

soundseeker63 It was indeed aimed at _a_ US market demographic, not _the_ US market. Don't lump 350 million people into one basket. Many of the best sports cars ever made were aimed squarely at US buyers. I'll just drop a name here: Mazda. Ever hear of the MX-5? RX-7? Designed in the US with the primary market being US consumers. Not too crappy or overweight I think.

Hence the embarrassment. Toyota spent a huge amount of money on a presumption that US buyers would love a fat, bulbous convertible pig, and that is where the SC430 came from. They found out that they were wrong, but for years they just would not let it go, like the Terminator in the film that the POS appeared in.

Cameron E Do you know what they look like? They look like if they had some form of dense liquid under the hood and then slammed it shut and the liquid seeping out of the gaps are the headlights.
