LOL, I understand why is he so UK-centric, but to put Elizabeth's and Victoria's coronations among the "5 worst in history" because "the train of her dress got stuck in the carpet" or "she forgot where to move next" is ridiculous. Just from the top of my head and even staying in the UK, how about William the Conqueror's coronation? The nobles' loud acclamation of the new king inside the Abby confused and spooked the Norman soldiers stationed outside, who mistook it for a riot and begun to violently disperse the crowd, set houses on fire and pillage. This subsequently frightened the nobles inside the church, many of whom fled even before the ceremony was finished and the new king was recorded as visibly trembling with fear. I think this ranks a bit above "a train stuck in the carpet".

The archbishop put the monarchs ring on the wrong finger of Queen Victoria. She could only get it off with much pain.

Prior to the late Victorian era ideas of the stiff-upper-lip and behaving "properly" in public, nobles thought little or nothing about acting like grown-ups at post-Restoriation coronations: scrambling for largesse coins thrown into the galleries, making off with anything they could lay hands on (especially at the Coronation Banquet), making jokes aloud during the service, etc.

During Queen Victoria’s coronation, the ring was put on the wrong finger and they had to yank it out. And, Edward VII’s crown was placed backwards.

While it is true that the queen thought riding for five miles in the gold state coach was 'horrible", the discomfort was caused by the fact that the coach has no springs. It is suspended on on leather straps, and these cause what Queen Victoria described as "the most unpleasant oscillations". King William IV, the "Sailor King", said riding in the coach was the closest thing that he had ever experienced, on land, to being in a ship during a storm at sea. The photo with the coach that is bombed is not a coronation, but the wedding of King Alfonso XII of Spain... And King Amadeo of Spain was never crowned, but inaugurated. Spanish kings are never crowned.

Considering 4 and 5 were really just logistical mishaps, I'd say they weren't that bad. Especially when bringing their life of luxury and power that followed into the overall picture.

You know I don't want to be picky - or sound totally heartless - but how was what happened at Nicholas II coronation in Russia HIS fault? He wasn't responsible for putting up the barriers, nor was he responsible for there not being anything like enough coronation cups to go round. I've always felt desperately sorry for Nicky, I think he was an inherently nice man who found himself in an unwinnable position - he wasn't like his successors, he wasn't 'born nasty' if you like ... but he did make a mistake with his chosen bride. Alexandra - I'm certain - recognised his weaknesses and as things grew progressively worse, played on them. She wanted him to be what he wasn't - and ultimately, look what happened to them all.
