I think one of the most important advice in life is that you can NEVER know what people think. Some people will compliment you and think the opposite, some people might insult you and secretly liking you, you can be married for 20 years with someone and your s/o might not like you. You can never know what people do think However if you do what you like, you’re 100% sure at least 1 person will like it

Man, I care way too much about what others think of me and it has stopped me from acting on so many things I care about like starting a RU-vid channel for my music, dressing a certain way, or like... nearly writing this comment lmao. I know it's irrational and almost entirely in my head, but I still struggle with this on the daily. I love your page man. It's helped me be more confident in fashion by just doing it for myself and ignoring that voice in my head, which is starting to carry over to other areas of my life, so thanks!

I find it easy to literally say to myself when i’m out on the street, “No one gives a fuck about you, no one’s looking at you” and it really helps me be more confident not just in what i’m wearing but how i carry myself.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that lol, I got a few compliments on a trucker hat and sweatshirt combo and now I'm expanding those zones for sure

I dress vintage and I had to basically convince myself to do what I wanted. I was so worried about what other people would say or think that I wouldn't allow myself to show who I was through my clothes. But I slowly gained confidence as I told myself what others think doesn't matter, that they aren't being forced to wear my clothes so why should they have an opinion on them. Now I am more comfortable wearing what I want (some days I am willing to do more 'risky' outfits than others) and I ran into a friend who told me she chose her outfit that day wanting to emulate my style - huge boost in confidence. Your brain tries to tell you people will make fun of you for dressing out of the norm but as someone who has done it, the compliments you get outweigh anything that could be considered negative

Truest advice ever. I remember being in 8th grade and finding the shirt that Juicy J wears in the "Stay Fly" video for Three 6 Mafia at the mall and having my mom buy it for me and still being so nervous about wearing it to school. I had already bullied myself so much in my head about people thinking I'm weird, fat, a poser, etc. before I even put it on for school and when I did end up wearing it everyone gave me tons of compliments and I felt like the coolest person in the world. 16 or 17 years later I still love that I took that chance. Even today though, knowing that taking risks pays off, I still have a difficult time with embracing myself and being who I want to be at any given time but learning to love yourself and your character is an everyday practice.

Best advice is i got was to understand the standout rule if it's loud get something to control it. If you're wearing a loud multi color shirt then have some white shoes to counter the contrast or if you got the shoes match it but don't over do the scheme with the hat

A lot of the confidence also comes from where you live. In Canada especially it is hard to wear anything that isn’t super basic. More people are seeming to care about style, but not fashion. In Toronto and legit Vancouver it’s different than if you’re in Drumheller or Kamloops. I live in Metro Vancouver and because I don’t live in legit Vancouver i feel so self conscious wearing weird kid core (my favourite). But in Vancouver I’m more conscious of if my clothes look too cheap than when I’m visiting my family in Kelowna. I’m more concerned about being harassed and assaulted because of the scary rig pigs and macho truck bros because that’s what has happened already. I was always a weird kid, wearing and liking what i like, dgaf about others liking it, until people decided it was offensive for me to like things they don’t like. Like their whole world view and personality is threatened because someone likes something they don’t like (like pineapple on pizza). People raging about people liking food they don’t like is the strangest thing to me. But as a weird kid, especially a girl/woman who dresses weird and mixes mens and womens clothing, but in a cute way and not a sexy way. It seems to enrage rando men if women aren’t existing for them. I dress how i like, but also tone it down depending where i am. I wish it was more acceptable for people to just be who they want. I would 100 be the weird kid dressing like a praying mantis or whatever. Insect-inspired looks or plant inspired looks are pretty cool. I have some of those glow in the dark bones JScoxAdidas sneakers. I love them. Hard to style and hard to walk in.

Don't wear the gang wear though. I got so many weird people just coming up to me asking if i was a skinhead because i wore combat boots and had a shawed head. It got to the point where it wasn't scary anymore, but annoying.

I feel most people are lacking the confidence to be themselves because they aren't completely open towards how other people express themselves. What we personally find uncomfortable, we tend to think of negative thoughts first-hand because it's something different which feels alien to you. I feel that in order to be more confident you have to accept others for who they are and see everyone more open minded. That in hand makes you more comfortable wearing what you want because others see you being yourself and don't judge you for it

I heard from someone that if youre scared of wearing a certain fashion or outfit because its “too over the top” Literally just wear it, go outside and wear it because then you’ve already done the hardest part by doing that, and you’ll feel less uncomfortable in every outfit you wear after that. Plus its easier to tone down a look more than to tone it up because then you set boundaries in your style . If you just wear it you wont regret it!

I tried and still try new things all the time. People will clown on me or question my choices and rather than make me feel weird I feel more empowered to be myself. I don't even try and get on a high horse and be like "whatever conformist you just don't know fashion" or come back at them at all. I don't care what other people think and fashion is just an outward budgeted expression of my inner self lol.
