Municipal flags yeah we don't make actual official Municipal flags much as far as I'm concerned only the autonomous region named BARM or Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Mindanao has an actual flag. But national flag we really really REALLY love our national flag and you can see it pretty much everywhere and have laws protecting the flag's image. Seriously it's illegal to use our national flag as a design on something as simple as a T-shirt and you're not allowed on putting anything else on the flag

@@Robinsekto well yeah if you put it like that despite the fact that we have about 182 different ethnic groups we all prioritize the PH flag and we don't really make our own flags based on our cultures (you won't see a flag of Bikolanos anywhere here despite their own distinct culture compared to the majority Tagalog). The only flag that can signify something like that is the BARMM Flag but the BARMM despite being an autonomous region still fly the PH national flag more often than their flag sometimes they only fly the national flag you can still see their flag flying their flag side by side with the national flag though.

I learned the origin of the Union Jack, not from school but from autonomous readings. The flags from the British colonial era where based upon the British commercial fleet ships flags. They where designed and attributed by the commercial navy officials. The creature on the Kazan's flag is a cokatrice. It's a chimera of a chicken and a snake, optionally with bat wings. This one also have the head of a beast.

I also made a quick Google search since I got intrigued "It is known that English Crusaders used a red flag with a white cross about 1189." Genoa has a "lantern" (Lighthouse, but locals call it lantern) with that symbol which was built back in 1128, so it would be older? Not by a lot though, so I understand

During the first crusade the flag of genoa (and of milan and bologna) was born, but when genoa was the most powerful maritime republic, it became the pass to sail the mediterranean free from pirate attacks. For this reason the British decided to pay a duty to Genoa to be able to trade with their ships in the Mediterranean, at that time they had a red flag with three yellow lions, in the deal they had also bought the relics of St. George and the dragon from Genoa , in all probability it was the body of some Turk killed in the crusades embalmed together with a crocodile to play the part of the dragon. After the fall of genoa under Napoleon the british stopped paying us the duty but they continued to use the flag which by now was recognized as the national british flag... Technically we Genoese have about 5 centuries of renting the flag :)

The Kuwaiti flag changed several times before it reached it current style. It changed according to Kuwait's political state. The first one was in 1762, it was completely red with white zigzag at the left side. then it was changed to a red background with white crescent and star, to show the country's loyalty to the Ottoman Sultanate in 1871. But a little before Kuwait became a British Protectorate in 1901, The flag was changed to all red with Kuwait spelled in Arabic language in white. And it was used unit 1961, when Kuwait gained it's independence from Britain and the flag was changed to the current style. The flag with Kuwait written in French wasn't the official flag, though it was used when diplomats visited the country during the protectorate days.
