WHEN YOU WERE DRIVIN DOWN LISBON ST. THAT’S NOT THE HOOD. THE TREE NAMED STREETS ARE THE HOOD UP TILL YOU REACH LISBON ST. THERE ARE ART GALLERIES, CAFES, RESTAURANTS AND OTHER RESPECTABLE BUSINESSES ON LISBON ST. THE WORST PARTS ARE BY THE GREYHOUND STATION AND THE POST OFFICE. YOU SHOULDA SHOWN THAT AND KENNEDY PARK. THERE WAS A SHOOTIN THERE A FEW YEARS AGO WHERE A MAN DIED. KENNEDY PARK IS NOT A SAFE PARK BY ANY MEANS. IT ONLY LOOKS PRETTY MUCH LIKE A LOTTA LEWISTON UNTIL YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE BOARDED AND ABANDONED BUILDINGS.
@shaggy9900
This guys info is WAAAY off🤦
@wanderer1776
You worked very hard to drive around the poorest area of the city. Those wood buildings were built for the textile mills that you worked hard not to show. You avoided showing all the nice parks. There are very nice residential areas and new High-school and middle-school with fantastic athletic fields. That rate of overdoses you refer to has dropped significantly. The dirty streets are from people who were raised in a different culture. I have seen far dirty streets down south.

my dad raised me and my sister in westbrook and later moved to raymond maine. when i got older i decided to move to tennessee where my mom stays. i can tell you that its alot more comfortable being poor in maine than it is in the south. the hoods around here will kill you for just being where your not suppose to be or for just being the wrong color. the time i spent in maine we only used guns to go hunting... here we use them for self defense and have to carry one with me everywhere, even work. ive been robbed at gun point in downtown nashville broad daylight but shit like that is unheard of in maine
@seanmcgee8710
I love how argument is Maine isn’t safe because of overdoses. Because that’s totally the same as someone shooting you or stabbing are you smh

Poverty in Maine looks to be lot nicer than poverty in the south, which is absolute third-world in many parts. No wonder why the north doesn't like those buses with Texas plates rolling into there.

This is a joke right? That whole tour had clean streets, no trash even around the dumpsters behind the store fronts. no delapidated homes or buildings, no drug addicts walking around like zombies, and I only seen one cop. Lol dude, I lived in Dayton for 10 years.. You're so sheltered.

With all do respect as someone who grew up in Lewiston and Auburn and surrounding towns drugs aren’t the entire reason a huge hit was mills closing and loss of jobs that are available but what video shows are not the worst parts, it has its ups and downs but the city does have lots of good people

When textile mills and footwear factories were in their prime / operation, those apartments were luxury appartments! And those neighborhoods were beautiful! The French Canadians that had moved there were hard working people with great faith in God. They were very proud of their families, homes, workplaces, parks and places of worship!
@untermench3502
I used to date a woman who had an apartment in that area. We never had any problems. It was a neat building anf the interior wood work was exceptional. Many of thos buildings date from when the mills were in operation. The exteriors may look old, but the apartments are usially pretty nice.
@ajblixk
damn . it’s so crazy seeing lewiston again . brings so many memories back. i’m 18. and used to live in maine. i moved to florida when i was like 6 and been here ever since . so looking at this gives me a feeling i can’t even explain . i used to live in river valley village . they called it tall pines . and dang i miss that place
@dianemorrissey9764
Wow, thanks for this video. I was looking at cheap properties there . Massachusetts is more expensive and I have been looking in either New Hampshire or Maine but it's colder too which I don't like, however this past summer has been unbearable and the cold weather is looking better and better

I’ve lived in Lew for 16 years and it isnt like shoot outs every day like everyone says or thinks it’s more like stabbings, sexual assaults, robbery’s, drug addicts, over doses etc and those random interactions with the the people who act like a npc

Dude, Lewiston Maine is a State of migrants. Like you stated, It has a large population of French ( Canadian) My grandfather moved to Maine in 1903 as an Irish immigrant and was an indentured servant ( White Slave ) Until he earned his citizenship by joining the Army and serving in WWI . A whole different type of MAN back then. Didn't just hop a plane or walk across the border with his hand out . The politicians have given us no choice but to FUND/ Support the refugees and immigrants , while our own citizens live in poverty. So yeah a bit salty about the system . I am 60 years old and grew up/ worked / played in the streets you drove around and you missed a whole lot . Its worse than you showed. Like @Miandria525 said.Tree streets < . Things took a huge dive starting in the 1980's and have progressively got worse. One thing you got right was the connection between the immigrants and drugs.
