The Worst Horror Manga I’ve Read. 

Maybe I just don’t like slashers.

Never in my life I would have expected to hear about a slasher manga featuring Naruto, his dad, Donald Trump, saying "what in Hilary's emails!" and a femboy who says "you looking at my bussy, player..."

I lost my shit when she said ' it's pumpkin time ' . Truly one of the manga of all time .

In the defense of the girl who ran off, she was most likely in a panicked state. The trope of people making bad decisions when they're scared is actually accurate to real life. When you're over run with fear, you panic and can't think straight. If you want to cleanse your pallet from this bad horror manga, I'd recommend 'Ibitsu'.

I gotta say, this Manga is more hilarious than it is scary, It's so bad it's good type manga, and reading it with the fan translations just add to the funny aspect, that's why I loved it.

If Masked thinks this is the worst, he clearly hasn't read the author’s other stuff. Bless him

i absolutely love how the author writes his stories, it reminds me of old 80s horror movies at the start and suddenly become a american action movie half way through...

The fact that this manga references so many horror movies combined with a hilariously bad fan translation made it unironically good. The latest chapters feel like James Cameron helped write them in that there's going to be this grand finale ending with action and explosions .

I remember seeing the art blow up and people recommend it for shock factor. I am so glad I didn't read it because anything that gives me future diary vibes is an immediate drop.

I fucking love the translations of Pumpkin Night. They had never failed to make me at least chuckle😂

i hated the manga and the insane translations but it was so much mindless fun I couldn't stop myself from reading it till last updated chapter

I really only liked naoki cause of her backstory. Then she died. And I dropped it and never looked back.

I must've read a different fan translation because the last thing I read from it was Kazuya finishing the killings, and _maybe_ getting back together with Naoko? I feel like that panel you showed in that part is familiar, unless you plucked it from earlier in the manga. Anyway, I think that would've been the perfect place to end it, Naoko's mission gets finished by her former friend/crush. I didn't know it was still ongoing! One part I remember that was kinda chilling to me, or at least sticks out to me was how, when Kazuya was chasing down Naruto as the Pumpkin Knight, it happened to be Halloween, so he ran through a crowd full of costumed people celebrating. He begged people to help him, call the cops, something, but nobody believed him, thinking it was some sort of performance. I don't think Kazuya was covered in blood or anything yet, and if my memory's correct, he was even smiling and waving at people, which is partially why nobody believed Naruto was in danger.

To be fair, I think this series is just more niche than actually bad. If you like over the top camp horror movies then you’ll probably like it, but you probably won’t if they’re not your thing. I’m personally pretty fond of this series but that makes sense considering how some of my fav movies are Repo! The Genetic Opera and Re-Animator lol

Dunno if this is a coincidence or not, but Kazuya’s pumpkin head is eerily similar to the design of the Phantom’s mask from the Phantom of the Paradise, down to the beak-shape, one fucked-up eye, and black lips. I just think it’s funny considering the design is one of the only things you complimented lol

I fucking love Pumpkin Night, it's so edgy, violent, and translation is unironically amazing. It's got killer schoolgirls, it's got Donald Trump, it's got a femboy hacker. It has everything in a manga that I never asked for. 10/10

It's the most "turn your brain off" kind of manga. Pointing out issues like one of the characters separating from the group is kinda part of the fun tbh.

If you read the right translation for Pumpkin Night then it reads like the manga version of Ghost Stories and that’s what makes it a masterpiece.

I read this manga a couple years ago, I found it mindless and fun since I was really into stupid gorey horror but I dropped it when the translation started the get like actually bigoted and gross

WHAT?! I love this manga, and Yuki is one of my favorite characters. I'm sorry that the scanlation turns a lot of people off. It's one of the few stories where I don't mind the plot being so insane, it's pretty much all of the tropes in Slashers into one thing, and I love it.

I would recommend this only if you enjoy reading bad things, love this series

At the beginning it seems fun, it seems like a pretty good idea that is with a basic story. But then, as the story continues, it gets more bat shit crazy. In other words, just like every horror movie series nowadays

I enjoyed this manga very much, The story is kind of mid but I still have a good time reading it and that’s what just matter, I respect your opinions but I’ll still enjoy this manga. Sometimes not being a perfectionist is good sometimes because it makes you appreciate things while not having a mindset that everything must be good to your liking.

Juujika no Rokunin really lost me when it became an excuse to make a rape hentai doujin for the author

This manga was so dumb and crazy I honestly had a great time reading it lol. I felt bad for the main character and was happy to watch her rampage.

I'm not gonna lie, this is one of those manga that I like because of how bad it is. It feels like one of the low budget poorly made slasher/horror films that's done that way on purpose. The translations made me drop it cuz dude was trying to hard to be funny after a while. Also the story became something I could barely piece together because of a mix of the shitty translations and the meth the original author was on when he decided to go the direction he did with the 2nd part of the story. tl'dr: i enjoyed it for what it was until i didnt lol

If you want to torture yourself more with revenge manga, you should read a manga called "The Strongest Brave Who Craves for Revenge" and "The Kingdom of Ruin" 😈

Couldn't help but notice that Kazuya's helmet/pumpkin head is inspired by The Phantom of the Paradise, which in turn inspired Griffith/Femto's helmet. Meh I've seen worse honestly. At least it's not Wounded man.

being real for a second, i actually liked pumpkin night when it first started, but when the doctor or mental hospital arc thing started i knew it was time to go. it just got boring after that. the story had potential it’s just the creator didn’t really know where to put it.

Pumpkin Night was interesting but so weird and hard to read and the fan translators where I read it were highly racist, homophobic and transphobic. Where even the group went out of their way and called a cosplayer a monkey and showed them online which was fucked up

Damn, I found this manga not long time ago! The fan translation is terrible. But I laughed a lot while reading the first chapters.

I did like this manga for mindless entertainment, but the jabs a Trumf, are such a strange and off putting sight, coming from all things, Japanese comic books. Although it is just Pumpkin Night and Death Note, are the only ones I’ve seen done that, it’s still so wacky

You just know reading this manga that the author is just winging it and has no outline on where he wants this story to go. It goes from a typical slasher premise, to introducing a Trump look alike, to the protag of the first arc being a killer, to a clone recreation. It's nuts.

Yo Masked I don’t know if you’re into Light Novels or whatnot but I’d recommend ReZero if you haven’t watched it already. It’s an isekai with, in the best way I can describe it, Seinen elements to it. Its already got an anime with 2 seasons but I’d recommend to read the novels since the anime cuts out some important details. I think it’s a misunderstood series and think you’ll appreciate the story and whatnot. It’s one of the best series I’ve actually read and it’s still ongoing.

Translations make it bearable

What I dislike most about the Horror genre is so many series that don’t have an actual narrative usually resort to shock over substance and as a result the disturbing factor increases overtime because all the series has going for it is one upping itself until it’s just gross. And I love the horror genre as a genre but when I see series like this or Juujika no rokunin, I question what the point is, there are so many Revenge stories that are gory and violent but never meet that gross point and have actual narrative points, yet we still get shit like this.

This manga sounds like its... taking HEAVY inspiration from a 1980s horror movie called PumpkinHEAD. I'm not just talking about the similar names either. Which just reminds me of something from an old Spoony One video.... old-school youtubers see if you remember this: "You might be the one to make me stay around, you might finally be the one to turn this boy around..."

It’s been years since I’ve seen anyone talk about Pumpkin Night so this video was quite the surprise!

It's bad, I know, but a good thing about it is that it sparkled a lot of debate in the comments; people were discussing whether the bullies should suffer or not. I find that to be fascinating: anime and manga are always relevant, even when they're horrible

My favorite horror manga is definitely Gantz. It has some of the best monsters/kaiju in any horror manga I’ve read

Finally glad to see this one covered. Anyways, the British is the highlight of the translations. I elect for every manga to have British translations from now on. I also liked it up to the Kazuya and Naoko relationship thing, but after that It did kind of become just....just a bloodbath. The twist where Naoko disguised herself as Saki was actually good, imo. I didn't read much after Naoko died, tbh. It didn't get boring, but....eh. I found Hajime no Ippo.

I really enjoyed his longer videos. Hopefully he does more in the future

I actually enjoy the manga because I went into it for the gore and seeing the kills, the silliness and absurdity was just a bonus. I will say though that it surprises me that you don’t know about the genre of scanlations where they purposefully make it absurdly British. From my understanding it’s usually done on manga like Pumpkin Night where readers may not find the original content enjoyable even with the absurdity of what’s happening. I think Island of Giant Insects is worse than this (I’m only reading to see the kills and the absurd ways they get out of the situation) but there are a lot of not RU-vid friendly scenes.

I remember that panel where the editor edited the Naoko face reveal with Agni from Fire Punch and the detective says "Kino"
