Shit like this is what makes me relate to him so hard. We're both almost the same age, and we're both either always surrounded by people much younger than us (basically zoomers) or much older than us (older gen-x, boomers, etc.) I honestly sometimes find myself questioning where all of the millennials are! For once in my life I want to be surrounded by people my own age.
@@RhinoHorn7 Oh for sure, don't get it twisted - what I said requires you to suspend disbelief for a second. This was purely a hypothetical, *IF* Atrioc were a millennial and not the first human to gaze upon earth's splendor, which he is.
I once went on a date when I was interning in a big city. I was in college at the time and the internship was unpaid. I was leeching off my brother and he was paying my food and everything. My friend set me up a double date and I was like, sure, why not. I go with like 20 $ in my pocket. How much more can it be right? I grew up in a small town in a cheap country so 20$ for comparison can get you a good family dinner here. I go, Im doing great, talking, everything. We have some drinks, we eat some food and then comes time to pay. The bill was 80 $. I had only 20$ and basically like 5$ in my bank account. We're supposed to split check 2 ways, so its 40 dollars for me and the girl I was with. I didnt want to ask her to split. So I text my brother. He doesnt respond. I text him again. No seen tick. I call him, and he goes nuclear. He was working, talking with his boss, and I called him in middle of his work. I was like, "But wait, it gets worse, you gotta send me some money". I said this, and he fucking ragequit. From his perspective, I dont blame him. I was shit out of luck, Im thinking maybe I call my parents, maybe friends, idk and before I could finish my thoughts, my phone beeps, hes sent me the money, 50$, more than I asked for. I walk out of the bathroom like a boss. Pay the share, and Im out of there. The moment I step in the house latee than evening. My brother was like, wtf are you doing. I explained the date and he literally LMFAOd to my face. Still havent paid him btw.
@@Noah-lj2sg I posted this a year ago. I have now paid my brother in full. He's actually gone back to college and I have a job now so I'm helping him financially.
What's weird is that Cube World was the sole indie project of a single developer and and his wife, so I don't understand how WB Games would have had anything to do with it. Picroma, the company under which the dev released the game, is also based on Europe. Either this guy was taking ownership of it for some weird reason, or maybe it was just the code name for a different game that was in development. After all, Cube World was actually a pretty solid game. It only got name recognition on merit of its own gameplay, of which the first few hours at least were fairly solid.
Question for atrioc: what do you think should be the very first thing you should do when you start to try networking? Cause it intimidates the absolute hell outta me
Mmm for me it would be getting your mindset right. Your not networking to make friends, though thats a cool bonus, your networking to make use of others, and to be of use. Be mindful of how others can use their skills, and make it apparent that you recognize and appreciate their skills. When a person simply knows their experience can be of use to others, they are likely to help you just for that very fact. And make sure you make apparent your own skills.
Oof, I remember having no money and trying to influence people in power to help me get a job. And the awkward fails, and the awkward fails... and then the right people take a chance on you and suddenly "oh wow... maybe I actually have something of value to offer." Thanks for sharing your story, I bet it helps a ton of people at that point in life.
I almost walked into a Mercedes dealership asking for an application while wearing a Mercedes AMG F1 shirt and hat, but thankfully one of my friends convinced me not to
