That isn't even a fair comparison. lol People only got onto Poki because for one, she is extremely family-friendly, and plays off of that. Has criticized others streamers for doing the same thing, which comes off as hypocritical. She has played the moral high ground multiple times. And has vast influence over a lot of people who tune into her and donate. Those parasocial relationships are no joke. And those are the people she tried to oversell to, because she can. No one has a parasocial relationship with massive corporations, nor do people view coportations as moral. Everyone is aware that corporations lie and upsell things. But Poki made it seem like she spent two years developing this special cookie, only to have added vitamin D to an already existing cookie. And people are more apt to trust her and buy into it simply because of her profession. The expectations between Poki and a corporation is vastly different, and if you can't see or understand why then idk what to tell you. lol I think it was less that she was charging insane amounts for cookies, and moreso the hypocrisy of it all. Streamers upcharge stuff all the time, including merch. If she would have just been straight up about it, rather than trying to justify the price by bullshitting her fans than no one would have cared a couple days later, if at all.

Gambling may not seem that bad from the surface level. Especially when watching millionairs gamble with sponsored money. Which is far more worse, because it gives an unrealistic view of gambling to the average person. But gambling actually causes more suicides than any other vice, including drugs. It's really no joke. And sure, most will be okay and can gamble here and there when they have spare money. But just like with mobile games, they find that 5-10% that will willingly spend all their money. And hey, if adults decide to gamble it is what it is. But its deeply irresponsible and gross to advertise gambling on a platform dominated by kids and teens. That is just a whole different level of scummy. Underdeveloped brains are far more susceptible. There is no doubt that XQC has gotten people addicted to gambling.
