It amazes me that you can get so rich your survival instincts stop working. If you offered any regular person the opportunity to get locked in a remote control oil drum and go 2 miles underwater they would call you insane.
There was at least one rich guy who didn't go on because his son warned him. Jay Bloom, who's a Billionaire investor and is son (20) went to see the sub and the son had immediate red flags. “He basically told me he knew I'm a helicopter pilot, and he said, 'This is safer than flying a helicopter. It's safer than scuba diving.' And at lunch he said, 'It's safer than crossing the street,' " Jay recounts. "He was a good guy, great heart, really believed in what he was doing and saying. But he didn't want to hear anything that conflicted with his world view, and he would just dismiss it.” “He absolutely believed what he was saying," he continues. "But I didn't want to get into the safety concerns anymore, because he was so vested in his position. And anybody who questioned it just had a differing opinion."
"As late as the end of May, or in mid-May, he was texting me that they had spots open a week or two out. And he offered me a $100,000 off each of our tickets,” Jay reveals. He says he felt the CEO did not think it would be dangerous for them to make the trip. “He was so passionate about this project, and he was such a believer. He drank his own Kool-Aid, and there was just no talking him out of it,” Jay explains. “I don't think Stockton understood the risk himself, or didn't want to understand the risk.” “I made the informed decision not to do this,” he says. “I told [my father] it was a bad idea, and he listened to me and we both agreed not to go. It’s crazy that people who did go were in a similar situation as me and my dad.” The sad irony is the position was filled by the 19 year old and his dad.
"For Sean, the first red flag that alarmed him about Rush was his arrival in Las Vegas, where Sean, Jay and Rush were set to meet. He says they asked why Rush was landing at a North Las Vegas airport rather than the commercial airports like McCarran. 'He’s like, 'Yeah, I built this plane with my hands, and I'm test-flying it right now.' And we’re like, ‘What?' That was my first red flag,” he explains." The guy had red flags before he even saw the sub.
Sadly most people who died in the titanic were the cattle/economy class. The first class passengers were able to get on the boats first. I love that it redeemed itself this time tho
The worst part is people have been down there mad times to see the titanic, DECADES AGO, and knew how to do it safely. This the equivalent of building a plane and all the top engineers from Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and every other leader in aerospace tech saying "bro if you take off in that, the only way your landing is by crashing" and they were like "nah we straight." The more you look into it the worse it gets, like they've had tons of problems before on previous dives that they could have taken note of and fixed way before it got to this point. They basically did the equivalent of driving a car with every dash warning light on for years and then did the Pikachu face when the car broke down on the highway, except the highway is 12,000 ft under the ocean.
Idk what the rush was bruh like they have all the resources and time in the world why not use that to ensure everything is good to go before taking the dive? Plus what are they gonna learn about the titanic that they don't already know? Did they just wanna see it?
@@sirhundo5976 "What's the rush" is right. I think everyone should check out the news clip of James Cameron talking about this. The man was so obsessed with the Titanic that he's done over 30 dives into the ocean like he's obsessed obsessed. He talked about before they even started building anything for the water they spent 3 years just making computer models. As for what the goal was of this, I think Shawn Hit the nail on the head when he said it's bored rich people shit. From the tiny amount of information I've gathered it really just seems like they were trying to do tourism for rich people. But they were trying to do it in the most extra way possible. Like the shape of the hull, the materials they built it out of, everything they did was as unique as it was wrong. They basically tried to build a car out of solid gold and then listed terrible gas mileage and inability to achieve highway speeds as "features." Watching videos of the CEO who died It really seems like he just wanted to be special. He talks about "innovating"and "breaking the rules", typical tech billionaire CEO bullshit. Meanwhile there were leading engineers in the field writing letters saying "please please don't let anybody on there they're going to die." *TL;DR: Main character syndrome*
this whole situation reminds me of that Zack Fox joke where he said this type of rich/white tourists always die like they are in a Looney Tunes cartoon, like gettin crushed by piano or runnin into a canyon ☠
The world is so crazy, 500 people just died trying to go somewhere to get some basic human rights and 5 people died paying 250k to look at a boat to flex.
Seriously, what did he think they were there for? Ruining his fun? What's the point of hiring people that are professionally trained to do it if you think you know better than them...
@@outersiderofficial What was the point of even hiring them if he was going to act like he knew better? You hire these people to prevent what happened to the sub.
@@Vincisomethingsame thing I wonder about with Donald Trump and his Lawyer's and aides. He literally pays then millions of dollars, and then when they give him the best info for his situation, he doesn't listen or fire them 🤦🏿. Like why did you hire them if you were gonna do this? Lol
I made a comment somewhere saying how I thought the sub was named Titan and now I'm realizing that wasn't a joke or me mishearing.... Name the sub pretty much after the sunken ship and "OceanGate"... ? fun fact, the ship was made out carbon fiber. Not only is that not deemed a safe material for submarines, it was E X P I R ED. And there were articles saying it was also the cylindrical shape that was part of the culprit. Submarines are supposed to be more spherical because that shape can withstand pressure more. He might as well have made a giant tin can.
Astronauts don't like using wireless technology because if something goes wrong, it's a lot harder to fix (if you can at all) if you're away from civilization, people, or earth itself. The technology they use is for function, not because they think it looks cool. Using an X-box controller is crazy. The guy really said, "it shouldn't take a lot of skill." To make a functional submarine?? Even the journalist couldn't help but laugh when he pulled out the controller
@@Hillwood365here was a different billionaire and his son who were invited to go on, but they declined because they saw red flags even before they saw the sub. There are texts between Rush and Jay Bloom where he said their concerns were "stupid." They said he was drinking his own kool-aid. In the texts, he said there "hasn't even been an injury in a nonmilitary sub" for however many years he said. Bro, nonmilitary doesn't Macgyvered, janky, or not safety regulated...
12:34 OF COURSE NO WOMAN WOULD AGREE TO GET LOCKED WITH 4 OTHER MEN IN A CHAMBER UNDERWATER HAHAHAH, this is definetely the type of dumb dangerous shit that only MEN would put themselves through, they thought they were just too special and rich for something bad happening to them...
The 19 year old said he didn’t even want to go and was worried but his dad pressured in him into it and he agreed to do it bc his dad was obsessed with the titanic and it was Father’s Day
These people weren’t even scientists . They were rich tourists visiting a wreckage that has been explored and mapped out years ago . So people don’t have to do this

It's not mother nature God created everything on heaven and earth he made everything in this world not mother nature not budda controls the sea I wish people would stop thinking mother nature controls things and its God no one is above him smh😒
Imagine saying “this shit is is invincible,” right before you go under and get clapped by the ocean. All that money couldn’t buy him two brain cells to rub together. You couldn’t PAY ME to get in a submarine, tf??? The good Lord intended for me to keep my ass on the couch.
That’s actually what happened with the OG titanic actually.. they said it was “unsinkable” my great grandmother actually had tickets to go on the Titanic but declined and passed them on.
@@owenleal How is that cap lol... there are still descendants of people aboard the Titanic today. The CEO was also descendant of people who were on the Titanic And it's not uncommon hearing how people nearly missed a tragedy because they simply decided not to go.
I just can’t get over the guy who asked his son to go even though he weren’t really feeling it. Bro had the rest of his life and just went to placate pops. SIGNED A WAIVER. It’s a mad world.
That’s what I’ll never understand; all these images on google, all these videos on RU-vid, all kinds of documentaries n shxt and MFs was still like “Naw, I gotta SEE that shit with my own eyes. Let me pay $250k to ride in this empty tube of toothpaste controlled by a knockoff Playstation controller n travel 2.5 miles below the ocean”.
I hop into a sealed Mario pipe and someone hands me a Mad Catz controller from 2005 and says sail this I say hell no. Unless it's an OEM Nintendo controller we're staying put.
You know that scene in Finding Nemo where Marlin and Dori have to go down into the dark and they run into an angler fish? Angler fish live up to depths of approximately 10,000 feet. The Titanic is about a couple thousand below that. The blob fish that needs the heavily pressurized waters to survive live around 2k - 4k feet. ImDontai mentioned seeing a comment that was like, "why don't they just swim up" lmao. The pressure was described as a "humongo" whale biting a person or 9 empire state buildings stacked on top of each other.
@@lip124If you really want to know, Casual Geographic has a video on deep sea creatures that's pretty interesting (and one on ocean creatures in general). The good news is angler fish are pretty small. the bad news is there's worse lol.
Ppl paid extra extra premium to go to Fyre fest rich ppl put a lot of value on exclusivity, they'd pat extra for an exclusive dumpster to dive in if they've been convinced it's exclusive enough.
black people were allowed on the titanic, but it didn't have much because most of the passengers were from europe and at that time the presence of blacks or other people of color was not so big. But I think there was a Haitian in it.
This already sounds like a story I'd hear on Mr. Ballen's channel. If the sub imploded the only good thing is it was probably instant and they didn't have a chance to suffer. I've heard several ocean/water related deaths where that wasn't the case- a lot of them being divers who were going way above their skill level or accidentally took a wrong turn. The worst accident stories involving natural elements seem to be under water or underground.
As someone that’s enjoys(? don’t know the best word for it) researching about the titanic and the events that led to the disaster. I’ve also seen it. A huge chunk of the hull. In Vegas at the traveling Titanic museum that has plenty of antiques straight from the bottom and recreations of the different cabins. But again, they have a straight up huge section of hull that got brought up and has been maintained for years t.hat has a whole story about it taking years to get the thing out of the ocean. Going underwater for “observation” at this point is just entitled people thinking they own the planet and forgetting what science is.
The controller isn’t that big of a problem. We have other device that use controllers( not store bought tho). Dodging regulations, not have good safety standards… that was the main problem and death of this people…. All for greed and excitement
The inventor said himself he used carbon composite despite rules/people telling him not to and that it has never been done, like he did not think there must have been a valid reason for that rule and not doing it. It is a shame other innocent people got dragged into his obsession for breaking the rules.
The very next day they showed killer whales attacking boats on all French Media platforms. You can’t make that ish up!!! F*** the Ocean for life. I ain’t traveling there.
It was Orcas attacking boats in France.. and it was explained that they were sick of boats approaching on their territory.. and Orcas are pretty chill animals - so that one’s on us. But yea I don’t like the Ocean either.
Bruh if I didn’t think they was lying when they said Nicki & Ice you def lying when u tell me a girl from Houston is oiled up butt naked on submarine when she can do the same sh*t at her house.
curiosity did kill the cat but I feel extremely bad for the youngest person in this tragic accident he was a 19 year who just just wanted to honor his father. Which is why when people on the internet sum up the victims to be "all just being billionaires" it shows how truly insensitive the majority of the population is. People will turn anything into a meme and its fucking weird and disgusting. I honestly don't even know why people truly give a fuck where they'll go and make internet garbage from that.
The way i see it the CEO was the one at fault so yall can stop draggin the rest of people. The worst they did was trust the Ceo and even then The CEO was probably a crazy.
Shawn can't even fathom the pressure from that depth. You aren't "passing out" at those depths, you're literally being crushed alive. It's like the same force as like 300 elephants standing on you. Before you even know whats going on you are crushed. lol Bro thinks we can survive those depths without instantly being crushed and imploding, but a titanium or carbon sub can't. lol
they got a xbox controller with kontrolfreeks an thought they was cookin “people are willing to fund this kind of exploration in science” my nigga its a sunken ship that millionaires died on a hundred years ago. you gassin it
This is why I always say that I would take my chances in the vacuum of space before exploring the depths of the ocean. I don't care if Atlantis really is down there. They can have it.
Alot of military uses those types of controls its a common. Which is wild in itself, This shit isn't killing cancer or finding a cure for other disease its a waste man.
Shawn people still talk about the TItanic because if we don't talk about shit, people will forget the lessons that needed to be learned from it's sinking. As a result, if people forget, then people repeat.
@@ShawnCeeLIVE I mean hell, you got people forgetting why the Civil War started too. Motherfuckers be making 30 different reasons except the actual reason.
Shawn, if you never want to die in the water that means you can never fly in a plane. If the plane goes down over the ocean or something, you’re going to be stranded out in deep water for days.
Ngl that’s a crazy way to go I think I’d get to the doc & go home tbh I’d rather try space at least that’s beautiful you’re going down there to see absolutely nothing or a fucking species you can’t tell anyone about anyway lol.
*Unless you Aquaman or Superman or any of them super strong mofos who can handle that level of pressure in the ocean I doubt we’ll ever uncover even 20% of what lies in those depths….logically I feel like it’s just boring and crazy amounts of water pressure but the kid in me wants it to be some wild crazy shit we haven’t found yet like what could be beneath them super dense lakes and etc*
