Battery: $50 Labor: $100 Giving a big 🖕to Tim Cook? Priceless. There are some things money cannot buy. For everything else, there is *The Greatest Technician that's ever lived.*
7:48 Truly the best laptop that’s ever made! I have the early 2011 model and it’s still in the original battery! i just changed the HDD with and SSD and my father is using it for web browsing.
@howaboutsomesoyfood they tried. They did this with a repair shop who repaired their phones and decided to use the guy, wanting him to destroy all the phones he repaired on and pay them for losses on sales for new phones on top of that due to the repair jobs stopping people from buying
I still use a lot my 13" 2011 macbook pro. My parents used it for literally a decade without ever maintaining it, and a while ago it died. The technician I talked to said it was unrecoverable But I watched a lot of videos from the greatest technician that's ever lived and swapped battery, upgraded the ram and replaced the old hdd with a new ssd, and now it works perfectly without a problem Thank you man, you helped me decide to repair it myself
I am genuinely impressed with your ability to not only fix tech, but to come up with names for dust and excuses for having a toothbrush in your back pocket
Oh man I replaced a m1 macbook air screen at my shop recently for a customer and the repair went smoothly and worked perfectly. 3 weeks later customer comes back with a broken lcd trying to claim it as a warrenty fault. Suffice to say there was a lengthy heated discussion trying to explain to them warranty is not insurance and that they have to pay for a new screen again which we offered a 10% discount being nice and ofcourse they still left quite angry.
It's genuinely hard to know if a customer is dumb, or they do it on purpose to get free stuff. Food industry, clothing, repairs and OMFG software - and countless others.
Based on the amount of dishonest people we see out there, I'm almost completely sure that this customer did this on purpose, in the hope of getting a free screen (and something else).
Love to see it. My 2013 MBP is still running smooth and is the only laptop I own (and is the only device I own that doesn't run Linux). My plan for if it ever died was to replace it with a Framework, but instead I might just send it into *_The Greatest Technician that Ever Stole My Wife's Toothbrush_*
Hey guys I have a really stupid question, How come you guys don't do Board Repair / Soldering Repairs on Macs or other laptops ? Could've had the greatest solderer that's ever lived award too
Not a stupid question. There's only one of me. I am "you guys". Lupe is just a friend that hangs out. If I were to offer those services I wouldn't have time to offer any other service. That's why shops that do board repair either have a dedicated person to do it (which I can't afford to pay), or that's the ONLY service they offer. I enjoy being able to offer different repairs for different devices, not just working on motherboards all day. Combine this with the fact Right to Repair will never be a thing, so schematics and reliable replacement parts will always be a challenge to find. For MacBook's it made sense up until Apple put the nail in the coffin with IC restrictions and pairing, but with thousands of different models of other laptops, it's simply too much of a hassle imo.
They really are. The new ARM-powered ones are really impressive in terms of performance, and when they launched, $1k for an ultrabook was a steal. But they are completely non-upgradeable and fairly fragile.
I have a the rare MacBook Pro 17 Inch from 2012 with a awesome i7 and 16gb of ram and a 512ssd and a 1tb drive instead of the cd rom. Only issue the screen cable decided it wanted to come apart. Fix it i will, when i find a cable.
My 2012 mac dropped appx from 2m height when I descended to shelter during air strike, and it’s so freakin’ tough that it broke the tile on floor, but mac got only small dent and still works well. How is it even possible
That's more a video for a serious tech channel like JayzTwoCents or Gamers Nexus. And I think Gamers Nexus has already done it? PTM is the next best thing to liquid metal though, and doesn't need to be replaced for a very long time compared to paste
Gotta keep the algorithm pumping while I work on a proper long-form! Very difficult running the business, making the shorts, and making the long-forms!
Hey, I have a 2012 MBP 13 inch as well, I LOVE it. I put a SSD in it, and I want to put a 2nd HDD in it as well. Also I want to put a fresh battery in as well. I need the wise mind of the GREATEST TECHNI- well you know... I need some advice on what to use for the upgrades, if you don't mind.
As someone who owns an Early 2011 MBP (running High Sierra because I don't want to take a risk with OpenCore yet XD). I just upgrade the HDD to an SSD (always a god send for these older MacBooks) and I upgrade the RAM to it's fullest, which in my case was 8 GB. I still use the SuperDrive in my MBP because I have a lot of DVDs that I still watch from time to time and this is one of the ways I watch them. I hope your upgrades go well for your MBP 😄
Back in 2017 I had a 2010 17 inch MBP, I rang my nearest Apple Store and inquired if they carried new batteries for it, the guy on the phone said “We don’t stock retro parts”
Mid 2010 MBP was the greatest laptop of all time. OF ALL TIME. But seriously, it is amazing and still runs great today - I made similar upgrades (SSD, more RAM), but kept the disc drive because it's the only computer in my house that has one now - comes in clutch on rare occasions.
Thank goodness for the “the greatest technician that ever lived” if ever my MacBook Pro has issue I have someone to send it too for repairs! And give Apple the middle finger. I’m not upgrading even if I have an old late 2018 model running an i5 that’s ready to give up. As long as it still runs I’m going to keep using it. Don’t have thousands of dollars to burn.
I have the 2009 13 MBP I used it primarily up till about 2015 when I built a hackintosh then as secondary until it died two years ago. Logicboard issue either cpu or ram slots need re soldering. I don’t have the tools yet for that and I’m still working on my soldering skills. I might upgrade it to the 2012.
I switched from my mid 2012 mbp to a 2019 because the 2019 was super cheap 2nd hand (or 6th idk I didn't ask how many people's Gooch dust I was dealing with) and my 2012 needs some work (slow as balls and hot as hell) but I kept the old tank and I'm never letting it go because the thing is excellent, I just need to find a trusted repair shop near me (sadly in the UK so I can't just ship the old battle axe to the greatest technician that's ever lived) to do a little upgrading 😂
Please I Need Your Help I Was Trying To Download Windows 10 By Myself But It Didn't Want To Be Downloaded In Disk 0 So I Opened YT For A Tutorial And The Tutorial Said To Select The Disk 0 And "Clean It" Wich I Didn't Understand One Thing About That Clean Command Wich Is Deletes All Files In All Partitions. Is There's A Chance That I Can Get Back My Files?
Still using my 13 inch mid 2012 macbook pro today. I removed the cd drive to slep in an ssd and boot the os from ghere and kept the original hdd, also upgraded ram from 8 to 16gb
Another craptastic example of a Macbook pro is the ones that had bad Nvidia graphics chips that users modded to bypass the bad Nvidia chip to just use the IGPU off of the Intel CPU.
I have a 2011 Macbook Pro that I used throughout college. Still kicking but shows its age for sure, the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore, the charger cord is basically half electrical tape half copper because of the crappy design Apple went with, and the corner of the display is dented from the time I slipped and fell in the winter walking between classes, but it's still kicking all this time later. They can make some incredible products but MAN are they dicks overall.
I actually own that last model bootcamped with Win7, its held up pretty well, except for the fact that for whatever reason the battery continues to drain until it hits 94% then charges to full and repeats even when plugged in, and it keeps doing this with every replacement battery I try. Weird.
Is there any good lenovo laptops, in terms of that it has good build quality and wont be able to pop the screen of by sliding my thumb in between the screen and keyboard?
I actually have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro, but then it kinda got f*cked. You see, the RAM got misaligned and the battery is swollen, effectively making it a bomb. I now live in constant fear of my house burning down. But for the time that it was functional, I do have to say. There were times that it was better than my Dell G15 5511. Good job, Apple!
I've owned my Lenovo B590 since 2012, that is for 12 years now. It's probably been the best investment I made that paid off manyfold. It's in a better shape than this MacBook.
yep! ive owned serveral of those! i currently own a 11 inch 2014 macbook air and a 2013 13 inch macbook bro! i did own a 2012 15 inch macbook pro about 2 years ago but the dedicated gpu died so i tossed it and when i got my 2013 13 inch macbook pro i made sure to get one with just the intel gpu so that didnt happen again!
i really don't like apple for one reason: no support for older stuff. my oldest brother gave me an early 2009 imac with macos 10.10.5. i can't update it since it isn't compatible i can't play any games since they aren't compatible i can't download discord or steam since they aren't compatible all it's good for is youtube
Hey, what do you think about HP Omen transcend 14 ? How is the hinge design ? Will there be any issues with that laptop. I got a one time discount with HP. Any inputs would be appreciated
There will be issues with every laptop. The reason I never recommend new laptops is because they haven’t been around long enough for design flaws or common issues to start appearing. I form opinions on laptops after 2-4 years when they start failing and I start seeing them in my shop.
Apple Watch Series 8 or some shit, whatever came out 2 years ago. Android lost my loyalty and Apple can eat all the dicks but God Damnit they make things so easy to use.
