I am not against plastic surgery, I have a "you do you" attitude toward it, BUT when they become a trend and/or people try tp convince, trick or glamourize them is when I have a problem with it.
I am the same way and it also bothers me that some people don't truly understand why they want to get plastic surgery done in the first place. It's gotten to the point, of course, where you have people that think of it as just another trend to participate in. ☹
It's upsetting because I have a lot of empathy for celebrities like Bella Hadid, Dove Cameron and Kylie Jenner for growing up in Hollywood, not just seeing it via media but actually being the media and the incredible pressure that brings. But they all deny the extent of the work they've had done despite it being obvious. They dont look anything like themselves, and they don't even look like their own family members or biological children in Kylies case. They're perpetuating advanced unrealistic beauty standards despite knowing the pressure it brings.
Im kind of the same. Some surgeries are mandatory. Especially if the person have deformed jaw, nose, and or eyes that needs to be fixed or else it'll cause a long term health damage. It's understandable then. The only effy thing when people get plastic surgeries for me, is when they deny. 😅 And calls it 'natural beauty,' like WHAT?!
Yes. I would add one tip.... these defined looks are often made possible not only with buccal fat removal but cheek/jaw/chin implants. And this just like buccal fat removal can be spotted often. Typically you look for two things.... First do those areas look hard or stretched without the normal proportion of fat? That is abnormal and often a sign of an implant. Second, look at their face shape and proportions. Humans rarely have an absurdly sharp chin, jaw or cheeks because evolution thinks that's self defeating as it is more breakable. You tend to get more of a Henry Cavill than a Timothy Chamalet in nature. I say all this because I think people have forgotten what is and isn't natural.
The way I see it is if I wait long enough, my natural features will be “on trend” and I can enjoy it. Bonus is I’ll still have money in my bank account for other fun things that actually advance me as a person instead of pursuing something fleeting.
@AndrAiaNighthaven also depends on the surgery they get people get stuff done that doesn't suit their face and ruins the harmony they had in their features
@Destiny I hear ya there. Just had a bad car accident yesterday, but walked away physically sore, but I am an emotional wreck right now. Up at 4:30am but I did sleep from like 10am to 10:30pm with only a few hours awake in between. Was at the hospital for around 13 hours just so they could say I am stiff but will be okay. Sorry for the life story but it is honestly all I can think about right now.
What makes this trend worse is that you can literally just use make up to achieve the same look without it affecting your face for the rest of your life and then winding up with hollow cheeks in the future.
If you just want to make up for what gets flattened on camera, makeup can definitely achieve that effect, but contouring wasn't ever meant to look great in real life because the lighting is always changing. Me and my friends in highschool had a term for the intense contour we'd see people wearing in public, lovingly referred to as "poopoo smudge." But intense contouring can be washed off, surgery can't, so I'd far rather someone use super temporary makeup to achieve these for-camera looks than actually go get parts of their face chopped off/out. But even still, people seem to forget that these alterations were created to counteract the effects of the camera and not for irl looks. Anything other than mild contouring just doesn't look right the second you leave your vanity mirror and walk outside, into a store's lighting, or even another room because it was never designed to.
Honestly yeah, you can get some pretty sharp contouring with cream or powder contour. It’s easy enough to do. Definitely no need to get stuff removed from your face
Seeing the kpop idol comparisons is so jarring. They used to all have different face shapes and personal styles. You can even see in the first pictures they’re much more candidly happy, while in the second picture they have been trained on how to appear for the camera. Not to smile because it makes lines on your face. This is genuinely chilling. Some of them even had darker skin tones previously, but used some kind of whitening treatment or makeup to fit the colorist beauty standard that says Asian people who are darker are ugly.
Yeah quite literally. Like ngl, I am sorta pretty to an extent, but I generally look fairly ugly in day to day life because I have short hair and wear hoodies all the time, whcih are considered unattractive. I will not seem pretty unless I dress more femininely. So this also has to do with the way we present ourselves. Learn your body type and what makes u look more attractive. Start taking poses whenever you see some good lighting going on outside and take pics. People don't seem to get it that you CAN become beautiful without plastic surgery, and smth as simple as how u carry yourself can change everything
The irony is that the people that are getting their buccal fat removed are gonna have to end up getting fillers or fat transfers to their cheeks (which can cause facial blot clots that can lead to facial necrosis) when they get older in order to prevent themselves from looking gaunt and hella aged.
Not just gaunt, these pads are what's holding up everything that's sitting atop of your jaw. So once there's nothing to hold up the skin and fat, these areas are becoming more likely to collapse, resulting in a sagging face shape + jowls
@@elvingearmasterirma7241 that’s absurdly young to start thinking *everyone* becomes awfully bad looking. I’m sorry if you don’t have any people around you to prove my point, but I know so many 50+ aged people that look absolutely amazing, with rounded cheeks and a glimmer in their eyes. Look to 70 before the cheeks start falling in as much as we see from these surgeries.
the fact that plastic surgery goes through "trends" is so weird to me. it's an expensive and possibly life altering procedure, these people treat it like clothes lmao

I naturally have a sharp jawline, hallow cheeks and high cheekbones. The thing is I used to be insecure about these features, now they’re something that everyone is trying to get. Remember, it’s always about facial harmony. Just because something is a beauty standard, that doesn’t mean it’ll fit your face
same here, ive had people do my makeup at Sephora and i had to explain to them NOT to put blush along the gaunt part of my face because it hollows me out.. my eyes are also kind of deep set, they always try to draw in that dark definition in the crease of my eye and i have to stop them because it's already there! i recently realized that ive essentially been "contouring" with blusher by applying it directly under my eyes and across my nose, the way it would if I got a real sunburn.
I have always had high but full cheekbones. I remember my 4 year old nephew once telling me "you look just like my mommy, but you have 'floofier' cheeks". I was 17 at the time, but it made me self conscious about something that I had never thought about before. These days, people think I am much younger than I am, in part because of these "floofy" cheeks, and I learn long before now to learn to accept and love what I was born with.
I thought these things were always considered attractive? I know general trends rise and fall but I've seen those specific features always be considered attractive (at least in America)
I have my mom’s angular face but with buccal fat, she told me when she was younger, she wanted to have fuller cheeks. I always tell her that her face is so beautiful and many get surgery to have her strong cheekbones and hollow cheeks.
So people get Buccal fat removed in their 20's, only to have them filled back in when in their 40's? Sounds like a great Plastic Surgeon strategy for guaranteed future customers! So people are paying to look gaunt, can't you just wait until you're like 70 and you get that for free? 'Heroin chic' isn't cute, they look ill and we need to make looking healthy a thing.
From what I know you can't replace buccal fat once it is removed. As a result, they'll likely end up just getting cheek filler or something which probably isn't going to look the same as actually having buccal fat.
@milacolman1269 a naturally skinny person isn't automatically heroin chic. The name heroin chic should be enough of a clue to indicate that it is about looking sickly gaunt and thin
Bring on the “cherubcore”! A dentist once told me I have very large buccal pads. I think my chubby cheeks have helped me look younger, so I’m now pleased I have them
I'm 30 and I'm entering college this year, having plenty of bucal fat has helped me to blend out better and everyone who I ask to guess my age say I look 23 or younger. It gives me confidence to just keep doing my thing at my pace.
For sure, I’m in my 40s and when someone my ages face is gaunt or hollow it really ages them! (Not always as some people can naturally have an angular face) I’d rather have a little fullness in my cheeks.
You even lose it when you do physical activities like sports/working out. People forget that being chiseled is something to do with the facial bone structure someone is born with 😂
I’m so glad you mentioned the aging aspect of this because that’s the FIRST thing I thought about! It instantly makes people look 10 years older, I don’t understand the appeal🤷🏾♀️
Don’t get any fat removed from your face! My cheekbones didn’t come in till I was close to 30! I have a much more angular face than anyone would have even guessed, considering I walked around with this round moon face until my late 20s. If I had allowed a surgeon to mess w/my natural face, I’d look like an emaciated scarecrow. *Please allow yourself time to grow into your adult features!!*
I love the way you express yourself lol, made me chuckle. Same here, still have a round-ish face with some serious cheekbones at 42, I look 30 because of my buccal fat. People are so easy to manipulate and just not intelligent at all, we're doomed hahaha Edit: typo
Exactly! I'm in my late twenties and while I still have pretty full cheeks, my face started looking a lot more angular in my twenties. This culture of immediate change when your body hasn't even stopped developing is making me so sad
Some people shine when they are young…some others starts shining the older they get. I am glad that I belong to the seconds….I was ugly when young but I feel so attractive now in my 50s
100%. I didn't even remotely start getting my "woman face" until my twenties, and now that I'm in my 30s it's much more angular and defined. There's so many people in here trashing make up contouring, but at least make up washes off. Buccal fat removal is permanent.
It's bizarre that people's body and face is something to change just to on trend. Love your body and face for what it is. It's beautiful the way it is.
I had plastic surgery on my nose because of too much bullying and the surgeon made it so unperfect to make sure it doesn't look fake that I still get commented on it for looking weird... It's sad how much pressure there is about beauty standards
I’m sorry that happened. Plastic surgery usually doesn’t make anyone perfect. Celebs photoshop themselves despite the surgery. I had a nose job and my nose isn’t perfect to me either but it’s still an improvement. As long as it’s an improvement I say it’s worth it
This is now the third time since I started school in 1999 that something I used to be bullied for becomes a trend. So, adding to the list: everyone who made fun of my full lips, glasses OR hollow cheeks, you all individually owe me 10 000 euros right now.
I used to hate my "chubby" face despite whatever weight I am at (even when I was very thin my face was round af for some reason), but lately I am thankful for looking younger than my age. At least we have this one thing..
Same I just weight 52 kg but still have chubby cheeks. It is normal for me to have such a face. If I would say I lost my chubby cheeks because of weight loss it would definetly be a lie.
I was roughly 24-25 before my face finally lost all its ‘baby fat’, so I BEG of people if you absolutely want this, WAIT (which as the whole video points out, stop doing ‘trendy’ plastic surgery).
same! i was overweight in my early 20s and dropped about 20kgs and im now 26, and i noticed my usually round face had that gauntness to it, obvs due to the weight loss and also ageing in general; i do look much more mature and older (not that i dislike it, i do like my face now) but i cant help but to imagine if i'd gotten buccal fat removal earlier on and proceeded down this same path how my face would look like 💀
Yes! Also I don't see the problem with baby fat I love having a more cute appearance :) It makes me look younger, approachable and I just in general like the androgony it gives me (◍•ᴗ•◍)
I lost a lot of facial fat when I became an adult, my face became thinner. Imagine people having this surgery and then losing even what they don't have.
@@blobtheblob7975SAAAME as someone who’s fully grown in the eyes of the law stranger women shouldn’t be going aww at me and my mother in public. like it’s so embarrassing not for me for them they treat me like a little girl meanwhile 5 minutes prior i was blowing someone 🤭🙈🙈🙊ooo now that isn’t baby faced of me at all now is it nope just my age of me because news flash the age you assume people are is never and never will be 100% correct everytime so you might as well start questioning your assumptions 🙈🙊
I live in S Korea. I am very petite, whiter than sour cream, have very round features, the ‘v’ jaw, and a ‘small face’ (a big deal in Korea). Living here i get compliments on my appearance all the time and people constantly point these features out on me. I can’t help but feel shocked every time. In the US I’ve always been told I’m too pale, short, and round to fit the beauty ideals there. I am fine with that, but after living here my opinion on my own image has shifted. When my friends here lament about being too tall, having high cheekbones, strong or sharp jaws, tan skin, and big lips I’m like girl, you need to go to LA. I have to explain to people that in the West the ideal is like Kim Kardashian or Angelina Jolene. It just goes to show basing yourself worth on beauty ideals, ESPECIALLY trends, is a moot point. You can be the hottest person in your city, and in another country you’re considered meh. You can be the ugliest girl from some rural town and still get snatched up by a modeling agency. Hell, in the last century alone the beauty ideas in America have swung widely from one end of the spectrum to another. Don’t change yourself to fit in, seriously. Work on growth and self acceptance and only make changes for yourself. That’s the best way to age gracefully.
Thank you for including that part about premature aging. So many procedures are so tempting, when society makes you feel like you need to look a certain way to have any value; but even if most people know what they would look like if they got X or Y done, they barely ever know what problems it would bring long term and how much older it could make them look in the future
The buccal fat in one's face is what determines how quickly one begins to look old. If you get it removed or generally have a thin face, you will get folds in your face sooner. So I'm pretty glad I've got a 'moon face'. And to be honest, having the buccal fat removed makes people look weird, because it's not what the body intended you to look like and one quickly looks unnatural. I personally think it makes people look creepy.
Im pro plastic surgery all the way. However it’s weird that celebs are pushing “trendy” surgery. Like, it’s SURGERY. Medical operations. That are dangerous. Why are we treating bodies like clothes lmao WHAT?! U can change ur pants any time but u can’t just up and get a new nose, face, butt, etc every season, it will all fall apart
Idk why people contour their faces like that or even go as far as to get surgery for a trend that'll pass in two weeks? I've seen people irl with this makeup look and it made 98% of them look older and gaunt, who WOULD WANT THAT wth
I have a round face, which has always been full. It sometimes bothered me until an esthetician commented that I had lovely full cheeks that people would pay for. I was in my 30s. It’s still one of the nicest and least expected random compliments I’ve received. We are all better at seeing others’ beauty than our own
Sameee. Ans it makes me look better, I once saw a photo of me, when I lost a bit of weight, had contour on and OMG, my cheeks looked so weird shaped... I'm happy with mu fulled cheeks now
Ozempic was briefly mentioned at 6:15, but to anyone who’s thinking about it for “fast and extreme weight loss,” that is NOT typical. You might lose around 5 pounds, but that’s because it dulls your sense of taste so you lose your appetite (not like with covid, but kind of like when you have a cold and your head is really congested), and you get nauseous with gut cramps when you eat. You can also get egg burps and bad farts (luckily I didn’t.) But another thing about this hype is that it’s causing a shortage and people who actually need it for diabetes and pre-diabetes can’t get it, so vain selfish jerks are causing real harm to people who already have a serious medical condition. At least carving up your face only hurts yourself.
Also even if you lose weight, you have to keep using it or else you’ll more than likely just gain it all back. People think they can start and stop it to lose a few pounds here and there but for diabetics it’s a medication for life.
Honestly as a person with a naturally gaunt face/ cheekbones (my derm thought my cheek hollows were hyperpigmentation), we end up aging so quickly bc of it. Every face type has benefits and setbacks, we really shouldn’t be actively pursuing a whole nother facetype than ours bc it’ll just end up looking off. I definitely notice this procedure looking… weird on people like dove Cameron who have naturally small, full faces, but I also notice it on folks with already long faces like lea Michelle and Bella hadid because it immediately ages them. No judgement to anyone tho, if they like it I love it
Yeah. While makeup culture is it's own can of bees, I'd rather someone use heavy contour that they might laugh at in 5 years than alter their face forever
“How do you eat without cheeks?” I hollered 😂 I was going to get this done in 2016, the second doctor I went to told me I’d need that fat for my older years or my face could basically drop. No thanks too dangerous
I had my buccal fat removal surgery with a dentist here in Brazil almost 5 years ago. In my situation it helped a lot because I used to bite my cheeks inside, I even have a scar. My face is still full and I didn’t remove everything just 2ml fat on each cheek
That makes sense actually, I tend to bite my cheeks a lot and they're definitely fatty. I don't think I bite them enough to warrant taking the fat out but I could see how that might help.. I used to be insecure about my chubby face but as I'm aging I'm realizing it looks amazing as is lol, I would be afraid to mess with it tbh. I'm glad it helped and your face is still plump tho, I also might have to have some technically plastic surgery for my sinuses lol
Oh my gosh, I used to accidentally bite mine, too! Now I know why! I have a full face, but I’m 40 now, so there isn’t as much volume or as many bite marks. I’m glad your surgery went well, and it sounds like you and your surgeon had a great approach!
I’m all for people doing what they want, and cool plastic surgery is more accessible! But I do feel there needs to be a chat with these people about what is going to be realistic and what their goals are for what they want to look like. We’re all so different and should embrace that. I personally wouldn’t do it as I have a very flat face. Plastic surgery shouldn’t be a trend, but something you want to improve your physical and/or mental health.
I understand that looks matter because people is shallow so having some features can make your like worse, but I think before having some work done some people should go to the therapist since there is no wrong with some features(like big noses, monolids, full faces)
@@chidiogoikeh4550 Because therapy is highly stigmatised and its been normalised through centuries for people, mainly women and afab people, to hate how they look. So some may not even realise its not normal. Diet culture is surprisingly old, even dating back to the Georgian era. im still getting a breast reduction though my back h u r t s
Therapy requires hard work, time, and confronting yourself and habits you need to change. All things people hate to do. A lot of plastic surgery before and afters I see could be accomplished in the gym as well, but people choose to skip over that for all the same reasons
They just look old and sickla, like skeletons, the before pictures looked so much better and natural, I can't either see why they would get more jobs with their new looks. At the same time I get it too that peopledo perhapsto drastic chances to their faces, there is lots of pressure specially on women to look a certain way and to not age to get any jobs, then maybe some don't realise that they already have thousands of Kardashian copies and are not looking for more but rather people who look different.
@@teijaflink2226 I feel like that’s just a cycle that keeps repeating and repeating. One feature is in “trend” than a few weeks later another is. Not only that, but the people who did this to look different aren’t the only ones and pretty soon everyone is doing the same surgery and the effect of looking different gets lost like you said. I’m not pro plastic surgery unless it’s minimal. If you want to get it you can. I find it really really good if it’s what you wanted or it helps correct things that were wrong before. The kind that most people are getting currently is taking out protective fat and I don’t think that is the best idea
This whole “eternal youth” thing doesn’t really exist. Instead of doing things to your body that are permanent and won’t affect it well, just enjoy your youth while you still can. I do understand that that can be easier said than done, especially if you’re a celebrity. I mean, can anyone really expect you to look 20 for forever?
When I saw Sophie’s change I genuinely thought she wasn’t eating enough due to the lack of fat in her face and honestly a lot of this celebrities look like that because of that surgery
Plastic surgery stuff seems surreal to me. I dont know anyone (personally) who got plastic surgery done for beauty reasons at where I live. My mom jus told me abt her colleague who gets botox from time to time. But I would never get any done personally, also too scared of things going wrong during or after surgery haha. But thats just me. I always miss out on that beauty stuff cos I avoid beauty and mainstream media, but Evasian keeps me up-to-date! 😊👍❤ thanks!
I really don’t like this trend, it’s making people look sickly and that ain’t good to take out a literal facial barrier that’s supposed to protect your face☹️
The sickly look is really disturbing to me, especially because people have said the 90s “heroin chic” look is coming back and this can lead to all kinds of issues..
@@stupidass69420 I cant help but feel like the two are linked. The look is only naturally achievable if you have low facial fat, leading to the association with high fashion, supermodels, and actors. BBLs are getting sucked out, so why not the other cheeks? Fatphobia has never gone away, but I hope that the specific type of fatphobia and body shaming that came about in the 'heroin chic' days wont make a return. Body positivity and inclusivity are important to a larger vocal majority of people than ever before.
10, 15 years ago as a teenager I was very self concious about my round face and fuller cheeks. But now at 27 I'm more confident and also quite happy with having round cheeks because people often think I'm much younger than I am.
We also need to stop considering 30 years old as old. That is ridiculous. I'm 28 and still feel like I'm barely out of my teenage years. I'm only starting to see myself as an adult, but because I'm a girl, people are saying (even if I look young) Ooohh, hurry you have to find a husband, you are getting old!!!! That is stupid! And no, I'm never gonna marry anyone or have kids because I'm aroace duh.
@@saragreenfire4515 By the time we are actually old people, people will see those in their 30s as being in their 20s and 20s will be considered as still developing. That's how it should be. Plus people are going to live longer (assuming we don't let billionaires destroy the planet lmao)
in fear of sounding like a boomer: this is why i don't use tiktok (and this is also why i don't follow any influencers in any social media account), bc as much as you try to not think about it, this kind of stuff creeps up on you. If you're scrolling through instagram and see 20 posts about "beauty hacks" and the "latest beauty trends" in a span of 30 minutes, your brain is gonna remember it, and at some point you're gonna start to feel like there's something wrong with you. So if there's anyone reading this comment please do yourself a favor, stop following those "beauty inspo" accounts and start following capybara shitpost pages
Agreed. I still use tiktok because there's some funny things on it, but I have an app block that limits me to 10 minutes a day. I didn't realize how insecure it was making me until I stopped using it constantly
Reading this comment i feel so bad for some of my friends...they literally follow the Kardashians and have no idea how damaging it is to their mental health...i hinted one of them by telling her about videos i watch but she didn't really pay attention...and talked about how she has her waist similar to Kim Kardashian 🤦 someone tell her about puberty damn it 😭🤚(i didn't because it felt rude to say that 😕)
Yeah you shouldn’t be called a boomer, that’s a very balanced take I think. It’s super subconscious and you might get to a point where even when you hear about it, you don’t feel like fighting it.. Also yes capybara pages
This is why I’m not on instagram. I did not need to feel insecure about how I look. I am beautiful. And when I’m getting make up advice, I typically either get it from drag queens or cosplayers, or people who aren’t following the typical trends 🤷🏻♀️
When they talk the face doesnt move right and its really creepy. I saw someone on tiktok with this talking. The gap between the jaw and the cheekbone looked so weird as she was moving the rest of her face. Made me feel genuinely unnerved.
Sometimes I feel like the whole "If you have something about you that you're insecure about, you should get it done! Destigmatize getting plastic surgery!" idea is a psy-op by these plastic surgeons to get more customers. I think plastic surgery is perfectly okay for people who maybe have been disfigured in some way, but regular people with little insecurities probably shouldn't be getting procedures done. It just sounds like a dangerous game to be playing with your mental health and self-perception.
Bucchal is really irreversible. You can change your nose a few times. Swap eye shapes. Jawline can be reduced with botox and it will go away later. Lip-fillers will be absorbed. Those things can be trends. Bucchal is lifetime!
Nose jobs happened repeatedly because they're prone to complications, and each one becomes more dangerous. It's a TERRIBLE idea to be cavalier about multiple nose jobs, it's literally how you breathe and can have detrimental health consequences as your risk of collapse goes up
Some fillers never fully dissolve, and if not done properly and in certain areas can migrate. If done poorly over or over and over throughout the course of a lifetime, it can definitely lead to very unwanted results. No plastic surgery is without risk. Almost no plastic surgery is 100% reversible. Buccal fat removal is just a more extreme example.
Idk why having such angular features is so sought after. I personally think round faces are so cute, and some of my favorite celebrities have those very soft features (Emma Stone, Diane Agron, Emilia Clarke, Alicia Silverstone, Judy Garland, and Zoey Deschanel to name a few). It just doesn’t work for everyone, and looks downright unnatural when they have a more rounded bone structure from the beginning.
I very much agree. I think everyone is evolving into clones and it is quite creepy. And the bone structure is really a major issue. I naturally have strong cheekbones and a jaw a bit like this current beauty standard, but my face still looks nothing like these celebs. I still have a healthy layer of fat over my cheeks and and jaw and face. That sharp chiseled jaw look is almost always cheek and jaw and chin implants because the natural bone structure of the face tends to have some smooth padding over the bones if it is natural. I say this to clarify that the celeb look is the look of plastic surgery. 90% of the time it is not one found in nature. You can tell who is natural and not because those that are it is nowhere near the crazy unnatural extremes. People just don't know what that looks like. I watch Lorry Hill who covers this, which how I got familiar spotting it. Just remind people that idolizing this is like idolizing plastic surgery barbie or ken.
I always fall in love with the round faced kpop celebrities because they look so cute lol. Some examples are Kim Sunoo, Jeon Jungkook, and Im Nayeon. Nothing wrong with people with naturally angular faces, but. . . In a society that's obsessed with youthful beauty, I don't understand why someone would pay to have their youthful cheeks taken away 💀
Actually, it looks almost very SQUARE faced with these women. Round faces are a bit leaning like Selena Gomez's. Either way, I agree 100% but most of them have a square shaped face.
I wish you would've included the bit where Dr. Gary Linkov mentions that it isn't always the buccal fat pad that makes your face look round! He mentioned it in one of the buccal fat videos and said that removing it might then make your face appear unbalanced, and not at all like the client getting buccal fat removed hoped it would. He also said that the fat pad is super close to a bunch of nerves, and the chances of doing some type of nerve damage during surgery are high and that's why he himself no longer does it! I also think it's so sad and dangerous that such young people are hopping on the trend and getting what is pretty much an irrevesible procedure to change their faces. I have very round cheeks, but my face went through a pretty noticeable change after I turned 20! I lost my "baby fat" that I was carrying in my face and while I still look extremely young in my late 20s, I do clearly look like an adult. If these people had been patient they might've seen an even more drastic change in their faces, but our culture is so saturated with the need for immediate results.
It only looks good on people who naturally have it, like chalamet and Zoe kravitz etc. the only persons who’s surgeon knocked it out the park is Bella hadid. Her doctor won the decade for sculpting her face.
@@tokyoyoongi5538 oh ok, then her doctor is goated as well. and how do we know who got it and who didn’t. For as long as I’ve known Zoe she’s always had a model face ESPECIALLY considering both her parents have those facial features. I genuinely think hers is natural and it increases with age. My cheeks hollowed out at 21.
I personally want to look older I hate my baby face but I don't understand because most people want to look younger 🤔 I also want a buccal fat removal in the future regardless if it's a trend or not
You popped up in my algorithm and I have subscribed. Your voice is soothing, good humour, and still informative and even keeled. Great video! Also omg I hoped those photos of Lea M. were fake but it's real and that's so sad. I wonder if the plastic surgeons see it at the follow up and are like 'oh that did not settle the way we had hoped 😬'

Now he’s done with being non binary, they are obsessed with Philippino people and wants to have babies with a Philippino woman so- Also sorry I probably spelt Philippino wrong 😭
it's honestly disappointing how drastically trends changed since I was a kid. It went from stuff you could do with makeup like thin, then full, and then thin eyebrows to surgically changing your face. I'm sure if it doesn't exist already surgeons are gonna be rushing to coming up with some type of injections to fill peoples faces once having a pointy face is out of trend. I know to each their own but it's the constant promoting of ideals that literally require surgery that is going way over board.
As someone with high cheekbones, I can confirm 100% it has aged me at least 10 years since I was a kid. I’m not complaining, but if the goal is the look younger, maybe don’t accentuate you cheekbones with buccal fat removal lol
@@enoyna9495 not a year… it will be five years or so, there are always some ppl who are late to follow. I mean there are still some lady’s doing bbl where the trend obviously is going backwards
To me, most of the buccal results look like either handsome squidward or End-of-life patients/residents that often have a deathly hallowed out face when they're closer to expiring.
gosh i cannot stand plastic surgery tbh Edit: Can everyone stop fighting lol I just meant the type people do to get a new nose or a bigger ass. That's all
But sometimes it is positive, for example people who had an accident, their face was deformed and they did plastic surgery. Or me, I have to resort to plastic surgery to remove a cyst from my leg..
So many people are going to regret their choices when they get older. You want that youth as long as possible and messing with it at such a young age is going to make it much worse when they're older. I've always looked young for my age, but it still isn't fun getting older 🤣
There’s so much pressure to be perfect these days I’m trying so hard to embrace my natural beauty while I’m still so young I never touch makeup unless I’m either going on a night out or a special occasion E.g, weddings. I will never ever touch plastic surgery no matter how hard the internet tries to convince me to
I feel like 'buccal fat' is one of those oddly specific terms our generation will remember, like when we're in our 80s or 90s and the term comes up, we'll be the only one in the room having flashbacks about it. "What's wrong with grandma?" "It's okay sweety, they were living in different times"
I still remember when I first started getting into Kpop idols and Asian dramas. The further down the rabbit hole of interest became, the more I started to notice this issue. I know that people, specifically in this case Asian celebs, get cosmetic surgery for various reasons but seeing the drastic difference in appearance was a bit of a culture shock. While I will admit that such desires are no different in the US, seeing a lot of these people change what seems to be not just their face but also their natural head shape and/or structure into that of a living doll is kind of unsettling to say the least. And while I understand that it is their choice to do so, I find it frightening that a lot of these people are taking that leap for something that is both a temporary fix and costly to your health. It's just like what Edvasian points out in the video, some of these changes may affect the person more than they think in the long run. I just hope that such trends are not taken too far.
@Grapeyard I've seen a few ex idols talk about how when they were trainees, they'd always get taught "oh your nose looks a certain way you need to change it" or "oh you should get double eyelids" etc, in more recent years beauty has become a standing point in kpop, these idols HAVE to comply with the standards and the idols who don't fit at debut will start progressively changing their features during their career, just to please the public, so there's no way it's actually their choice but definitely the agency's choice. Also we know that idols are debuting younger and younger now , what worries me is that they're gonna get PS and alter features that aren't fully developed yet, causing them problems when they grow up and their face changes.
If people want to do trends, it’s usually whatever, but I can’t stand it when that trend takes resources from people who NEED IT TO FUNCTION. A person shouldn’t have to worry about not getting medication for their chronic illness because someone wanted to do something unhealthy for something that is most likely temporary.
I’ll be 39 this year, and I’ll just say I’m so grateful for my fat cheeks. Also, if Jisung ever got this procedure, I would go into a period of MOURNING.
The first mistake was plastic surgery becoming a TREND!!why make such a risky trend? Sometimes ppl forget a trend can come and go but ur face, it stays forever
@@eliza1826 when did i put other women down? I am literally saying that I have what they want, yet I want what they’re getting rid of? There is definitely something seriously wrong with you
I’m so happy I deleted IG years ago. It’s great not to be ambushed whole time about beauty, plastic surgery or “trending looks”. My confidence would be struggling under this social media pressure
As someone’s who’s soon to be 41, I was around in the time when everyone was obsessed with being super skinny, and let me say, as a teenager or early 20s , fine, but as I’ve gotten older it doesn’t half age you (and I mean being unnaturally thin, I don’t mean those where it’s their natural body weight) I’m by no means ‘fat’ now I’m a small U.K. size 12. Euro 40 which is an American 8 I believe. And that’s just where I comfortably hover. So pretty average. These buccal fat removals will be regretted when they’re older as the fat in that area can’t be replaced! A lot of these surgeries we haven’t seen long term results. But on the other hand, each to their own! But we need to remember one size doesn’t fit all.
The thing is... these trends are so temporary. Not just because things shift quickly all the time on social media, but beauty standards change over time. I just cba with these things. Why would you want to look the same??
My mom always talk about me having buccal fat removed, but I just don't see why. Yes, my face is quite round and when I smile I look so much like a full moon that people start to transform into werewolves around me, but it was ALWAYS like that. I'm in my middle 20s, I choose my makeup and hairstyle based on my features, know how to take nice selfies and all that stuff, I'm not paying thousands just to have to relearn how to live with my face all over again.
I think celebrities need to chill out with these plastic surgeries, especially on their faces. Your face shouldn’t be played with. The same thing applies to everyone else, but we’re focusing on mostly celebrities here.
I feel as though people could potentially be a lot happier if they didn’t spend tons of money to fit a trend. It’s called a trend for a reason. First it’s new and cool, and shortly it becomes a thing of the past. Buying clothing is one thing, but actually getting surgery to fit an aesthetic is crazy to me. Part of me is very glad I’m not on any social media because of it lmao
right there with you Ed lol, I want chipmunk core to happen 🐿️ and anyone who needs to hear this: your face is lovely, regardless of shape, size, if you've had work done or if you haven't 🖤💕 I'm sure there are people out there who naturally have more hollow cheeks and I hope y'all can appreciate your faces whether it's a trend or not!
You are hilarious, I dont normally watch videos like these because I could care less about most peoples views on beauty standards but your humor makes these things worth watching
I'm finally glad to see an Asian cover this so not only Western beauty standards are considered... I don't have the roundest face by Asian standards, but I'm definitely more round by Western. That said, even though I sometimes feel like my face is "fat", I've never wanted to contour or hollow my cheeks... etc. Why? Because it ages you (think Angelina Jolie as Maleficent), and my mom and grandmas have always beaten it into my head that health comes first and beauty (which is subjective) is also a marathon, not a sprint. I definitely think high-quality makeup and skincare/sunscreen will do more for you in the long-run than trend-fueled cosmetic surgery (obv not bashing all cosmetic surgery). I was traveling for work a few months ago, and someone asked me if I was "still in school"... I'm in my mid-30's (they thought I was in college, around 22). If any of you out there are also coasting into your post-mid 20's on your baby fat, count your lucky stars and love it. 😘
i generally have a pretty You Do You attitude for cosmetic surgery, but i think when you're young you don't realize just how much your face will change over time. I'm not skinny, but as of my early 30s you can see a little shadow in the hollow of my cheeks as my face has sort of naturally become more angular over time. If i do a tiny bit of contouring, the effect is more pronounced. If i had gotten this procedure done when i was younger and fuller-cheeked, it would probably make my face look hollowed-out now even if it looked great at the time.
So glad you pointed out that fat in the face = youth!! Too many of these "trends" may look good on younger people, but rarely do the same procedures look good when you're older. If anything, you risk having to keep getting work done as you age. When I was in my early twenties I envied anyone with gaunt/defined faces, because it looked so mature and editorial. But now in my mid thirties I love the extra fat on my cheeks because it makes me look more youthful and healthy than most my age. It taught me that our own preferences can change over time, so doing any permanent alterations to your appearance should really be done with consideration for your future self - not just the here and now.
It's kinda funny how in Korea it's a beauty standard to have slim face and then some idols trend because of their "cute cheeks", example: Winter in the "Step back" fancam, Jennie for rocking both sexy (eyes) and cute (cheeks) styles, Han just overall for looking like squirrel ect, Soobin by his streechy skin on chubby cheeks ect.
I'm lucky enough to have had this happen to me naturally after losing weight a few years ago, and aging a bit. I would never get something like this done.
This trend make me love my natural chubby and round cheeks. I have very chubby cheeks since childhood. I thought it would go away after puberty, but it didn't fully go away, It's still chubby just less. I'm glad because this will add to my youthful face in the future.
I'm 24 and apparently, according to most people, I could pass for an 18 year old. I naturally have a full face even though I have a defined jawline. I weigh 48 kg so my weight has nothing to do with my cheeks. Initially, I wished for angular, chiselled features... just so that I could be taken more seriously as an adult but now... I sincerely like how I look. If I make it to 30, I hope I look 22 by then💀😂 Overall, be happy with your features. When I was in grade school, people made fun of me for having full lips but now, full lips are desirable. Imagine that?😒 Let's not let people decide what is attractive and what isn't.
5'4... I've always been thin, though. The only one in my nuclear family because my siblings are significantly bigger than I am and I am not even the youngest. It's actually an insecurity of mine. I've been trying really hard to put on some weight.
24 is still young though, I'm 29 and still have people asking if my moms home when the knock on the door. I think if you're in your 40s and still look this young then it'll be really impressive
