“These championships aren’t like winning like Petty and Earnhardt used to win them.” - Kevin Harvick

As a Nascar fan, I really want Nascar to go back to the full season points format, aka the Winston Cup points format bc it really gives the championship to the driver who deserves it the most bc of their consistency for example. Last season, William Byron should've been the champion with 6 wins, 21 Top 10s, 15 Top 5s, and 10,16 laps led, but he still didn't win the championship bc of Ryan Blaney who just got hot at the right time. Ryan Blaney's first win was at the Coke 600 in the regular season, and this was after he went winless back in 2022. After that, win at Charlotte he went ghost for the rest of the season until his win at Talladega in the round of 12, which started his championship hunt. In the next 3 races, he finished 12th, 6th, and 2nd until his win at Martinville, which locked himself into the final 4. In the final race, Ryan Blaney car was good, and he was upfront for most of the race, but William Byron also had a good car, but it wasn't good enough, so Ryan Blaney finish 2nd and William Byron finished 4th and that's how Ryan Blaney won the championship even tho he had 3 wins, 18 Top 10s, 8 Top 5s, and 562 laps led. Now tell me, who really deserves the 2023 Nascar Championship.

My boy Harvick was screwed by the system. Should be a 3 time champ in most point systems where he was dominant. Instead he retired with 60 wins and one championship in one of his good/not great seasons. Maddening!

My pitch for the playoffs is this, the top 12 regardless of wins or not make the playoffs after 25 races, each race of the playoffs will eliminate the bottom guy in points. Until after 10 races, there are only 2 guys left, and those to battle it out for the championship, they will be allowed to pick there pit stall for the last race, and they both start on the front row, the points leader getting the pole, and the second man starting along of them, whoever does better in the last race is your champion, there are no stage points in the last race, this format isn’t perfect, but I think it would provide, both something entertaining, but something fair for all the drivers involved, the finale would take place at Homestead Miami Speedway, as it is a much better and more suitable finale then Phoenix. I HAVE SPOKEN!!!

I've been saying this for the past couple of weeks but I wish that WE as a huge community can find a way to not only let our voices be heard and that we need to tell the drivers and teams to stand up to NASCAR and tell them that "this" and "this" ain't working and they need to fix "this" and "that"

the playoffs also make the last few races into a wreck fest. if i remember correctly the truck series does playoff style as well and near one of the last races the 4 truck that were "fighting" for the title all wrecked each other

To show how ridiculous the playoffs system is I want to see how Formula 1 would look with a playoff championship for the past 20 years. I am genuinely curious as to how this would look

pros about the playoff system: anyone can win it cons about the playoff system: anyone can win it

As an europoor viewer I always felt that NASCAR was more a spectacle like WWE than a sport. Can't say it's bad because I don't watch it enough, but definetly not my cup of tea

Special moments are called special moments for a reason. It rarely happens. It's not supposed to happen all the time. If it does, then it's not a special moment.

Yeah but the Gen Z polls have nascar ahead of all the other Motorsports it’s actually in the top 10 surprisingly of most watched sports by the Gen Z people. Its more than views on TV. People are interested, and finding other ways to watch races. Maybe they don’t even watch the races live. They watch the recaps on RU-vid 🤷‍♀️. I listen to it on the Nascar Radio stations they provide for free every weekend. Maybe they are listening to it rather than watching it. It’s actually more exciting listening to it on the PRN,MRN. Those guys call the race really good keeps you interested. Its a thrill every lap on the radio

Guaranteeing a 4 way finale is absolutely boring. Knowing how many drivers will fight for the championship before the season starts? Uninteresting, artificial, and uninspiring. If every final race is special, then none of them are.

Having a driver lock up the championship with 10-15 races to go is absolutely boring.

@@spaceman435 A NASCAR driver hasn't clinched the title with more than a race or two to go since the 60s, if at all. There's more to a series than just the title. Nothing wrong with a champ locking it up on week 35 out of 36, it makes the times it does go to the wire all the more special (92)

Just give the top 4 drivers in the points standings a shot at the title. I give the 4 most deserving guys a shot at a championship

NASCAR is the only top level motorsport series I won’t watch anymore. It’s more like a game show than a sporting competition. Also, the cars are so underpowered now

And most of the time the people who comment on these types of things don’t like it because they have the loudest opinions. Im a fan of nascar since 2000. I love this format the best and all my friends who like nascar do too. I think most of the people who like this kind of racing probably won’t comment on a video like this. Its most certainly not the worst format. More people like it then you think. I see a lot of bad comments about the playoffs, but i think most people like it and won’t watch or comment on these videos. Most people who agree with it will like and comment.

Awesome video buttt I'll be honest i didn't really understand how it all works and now i know I'm never watching Nascar since what i hate the most in motorsport is theatrics (for reference i think that F1 sprint races are pointlessly idiotic).
