"Fun" story: In Germany we have a queer dating show called princess charming, also similar to the bachelorette but all the contestants obviously women. Loving the concept and loved the first season but last year the second one....ugh....it was scandalous in the worst way. The "bachelorette" did not accept anyone's boundaries and when one of the contestants said she has a kiss trauma because of something happening in the past, the "bachelorette" immediately was like " maybe I can heal her" and kissed her without consent one day after... That left the person with the trauma feeling like shit and she thought she was in the wrong and finally has to fight her fears. But that wasn't the worst. One of the candidates left all of the sudden and nobody really knew why until after the show when it turned out that one of the candidates basically forced herself on her and this candidate is a huge advocate for consent in real life... that was such a disappointing season that made me so angry. They will bring out another season this august even though I thought it will be cancelled after what had happened 👀

Seeing Lexi cry almost every episode was so sad. 😭 It was such a trainwreck. Also their ages being super young was concerning and not good to watch.

You know what's shitty? Dating apps. You know what's shittier than that? Dating shows/competitions. They are a waste of time, and the fame goes into the contestants' heads, and nothing ends well. Reality shows will dominate the fall line up and probably the spring as wel so long as the writers and actors strikes continue. Everyday people's lives are going to change because of this, although never every single one will be for the worst, but it's not a large pool of positive outcomes from reality shows.

i have been waiting for someone to talkabout this. i neverwatch reality shows unless they're queer, which is so rare it's never lmao, but i did watch this for the gays, i had to know. - pretty much everything you said i agree with, it took me a second to get used to everyone being so young,like why would you go on a dating show at this age? i mean obviously it was to boost their social media careers, but still it was just weird, especially since they're so gen z, it was weird to watch on screen lmao, i was likeis this what i sound like to my friends? but i got used to it - i thought the team stuff was a bit silly, like if they won as a team they got a group date, but isn't that so weird, just trying to make a connection with a group of people all trying to get with you? i get the idea logistically, to have games and competitions and stuff, but still, there was a way to do this differently i think - i was baffled at times at some of the choices onwho to keep, like they HAD to have made her keep jayme and sienna on purpose forthedramabecause literally the entire time, they kept milking all that storyline and drama. also apparently they both kinda knew they were going on the show, like not really, they both knew they were going ona show, and weren't allowed to say which one, but they guessed. and sienna the whole time, i was baffled by her audacity. - i was kinda bummed she let brian go, i liked him.andi think kalysta was like a really good character to have, but i got when she was let go, although i disagreed with the how. - i think overall the show has a good idea, a queer show for a new generation you know, and there is potential to switch it up every season with genders and sexualities and be good for representation, but they definitely need to make changes like you said,because right now, not it

I'll always argue that it doesn't make sense to have dating shows with queer contestants in the form of the bachelor, as it's far more likely to fall for someone you're locked in a house with for days on end than someone you may get to be one-on-one with every few days. They should be more like Love Island imo

These reality shows are notorious for treating contestants like crap. Some of the guys from love is blind are trying to get them to unionize, because they are technically employees being paid. They are mistreating employees and calling them contract workers and they go along with it because they are contestants who feel lucky to get on the show.

I knew that show only cause one of the dating coaches is a youtuber that I was subscribed to(Anthony). He was fine when he analised celebrity relationships so I was intriguied...but I didnt have actual time to watch the show + everyone is way younger than me and just dont seem mature and more like teens to me so I just wasnt intrested after that
