@@22KingRancher No idea what your problem is, but I do find loads to watch, disabled from a work accident and at risk due to illness I watch loads of strange stuff. TheBoatGuy, Nekkid Watchmaker, ProducerMicheal, DTTV studios, World of Tanks, Car repair channel like Chris Fix. Someone took the time to record a process and did a good job I made a short simple comment, to show it was good as I watched the whole thing, if you dont like it dont watch.

Actually it will only hold moisture and in doing so keep the roof material cold . Hence heat transfer of the cold through into roof .

The biocides treatment acts as a preventative and even improves the roof in the months to come. But I have been pressure washing roofs more recently instead of this scraping method.😃👍🏼

If I was the custy I would have wanted a pressure wash. But that's why you make a contract and hire someone worthwhile, or you can rent a pressure washer and do it right yourself, and drink beer or liquor while doing it.

Good work again Ashley, , with a roof tile being so pourus I would be giving 2 more spray follow up treatments, first after a decent rain , then a week after that I would spray and soft wash off at low pressure .. 👍👍

Awesome job on the roof. Another solution as a biocide is putting zinc sheeting along the roof line. In the USA they sell a zinc product that is nailed in right below the ridge cap.

Bits of moss falls off my neighbours roof every week and everytime it rains. I cleaned the roof on my neighbours bungalow with a long pole with a wire brush attached on the end, bleach mixed with water and a hose pipe. It's been 3 yrs now since i cleaned it and none of it has come back.

Ive done over 1000 roofs now in Sussex, using the scraping method, however we use hook ladders, trowels and brushes, get the job done and customers always happy,

I remember a person bought a mid sixties bungalow in England. They changed the concrete roof tiles to slate. Never had to clean them.

70% of the roof clean the others 30% MUST come with powerwashing.

Yeah gotta agree with the video, the biocide is the key here, a far better approach than just pressure washing the roof. I used a product called Roof Clear on my Bungalow, it did an incredible job and nothing has grown back for 2 years since doing it (I had more lichen than moss)

Some comments mention using a pressure washer. I wonder if that is a good idea. First, we don't know what condition the roof is in under the moss. Water might leak through damaged areas. Second, washing the moss down into the gutters might cause a backup of water into the house.

I've lived my whole life in aparment complex so this is a genuine question: why is it bad to let your roof be covered in moss and leaves? it looks kinda cool tbh x'D please don't kill me I just really wanna know

The moss can cause blockages in the gutter which in turn can cause water to overflow and get into areas of the building it’s not meant to, causing damage. The weight of wet moss like this will put additional strain on the roof. And when the wet moss freezes in winter it can cause tiles to crack. So it’s quite important to have it removed to prevent damage to the building.😃👍🏼

😆 Tell her I’m sorry and I will never do it again! The biocide kills off the remaining growth and the roof will continue to gradually improve over time. I have plenty of other videos of roofs being pressure washed for instant gratification!😃👍🏼

Cedar/shingle roof is near nonexistent in the UK :) 95% of houses have a tiled roof, and then other 5% is metal roof, flat roof, or thatched.

Yes, I’ve heard about that before. A big part of the problem here is that there are some fall trees just nearby which drop debris on the roof and cause it to sit quite damp a lot of the time.😃👍🏼

Sure does , we have some copper roofs and gutters at work , I hardly ever have to do work on them . It's always the slate roofs and steel roofs that need work and the plastic and cast gutters.

I moved in to my bungalow a short while ago and decided to clean my roof. I am against using any biocide treatment, that's just me, but I did do it in the height of the sun last year which was a mistake in itself, a beautiful sun tan on my head anyway. I found a wire brush and duct taped it to the end of a paint roller extending handle. It did a great job compared to the finish achieved in the video and it's been absolutely clear for the last 9 months but I do not suffer from any tree debris like this owner and with it being my own property and me being an idle layabout pensioner I could afford to take my time.

I had to clean a roof that was far worse than this for moss build up and was also a clay tile permanent roof. Took me one day with a power washer.

I elevated up from a 1500 p.s.i. portable unit, to a 3500 p.s.i., but now use an Easy-Kleen 14000 p.s.i. unit with Kohler gas engine and an oil fired burner, so that I can use HOT WATER, so much better. I also had a custom rotary sprayer head made up with an handle extension and a guard to cut down on overspray. You can add bio agents and detergents to the tank, for added benefits.

I am curious ~ why did you not pressure wash the roof before applying the biocide? ~ I can only guess that the price you quoted the customer did not allow to do this.

It’s usually scraping or pressure washing for me, depending on the tiles and the situation. It would be a lot of work to do both.😃👍🏼
