I think people are missing the point of the video, The video is about Cleril being a bad ship, not Peril and Turtle The reason I put it in the video is because they works perfectly together, Obviously you don’t need to ship them ofc, but PLEASE STOP PUTTING THE AGE GAP THING IN THE COMMENTS Trust me I know about the age gap, and i’m not ignoring it. The ages and maturity levels are so messed up in WoF that I have personally chosen to ignore it and go by the maturity level of the dragons (Obviously to a certain point, im not going to ship a baby dragon and a teen dragon because Tui doesn’t know how to write ages properly.) I think it’s weird how Anemone is only 2yrs when the Dod are all 7yr yet they have the same maturity level. and also how Cliff and Anemone are only a year apart, yet Cliff acts like a child Anyways, since the gap between Peril and Turtle isn’t huge (only being 3yrs in dragon time) and their maturity levels are the same I think this ship is fine.
That’s really mean to tui you just said she’s bad at writing ages. Guess what? SHE DIDNT PUT PERIL AND TURTLE TOGETHER SO DONT BLAME TUI FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!! Ages are actually around 2.5 times less than in real life. That means anemone is around 5, and pretty mature for her age, but remember she is a royal dragon, she gets influenced.

Edit: Tui has once again retconned ages and said that 7 years old does not mean adult! The problem with Peril x Turtle is the age gap. Turtle is 5 years old and Peril is 8 years old. Most dragons in the series turn to adults at 7, so Peril had been an adult for a bit now, and Turtle is nowhere near an adult.

@@3rdEyeLenny it the real world, a lot of couples are at 1-5yrs apart in age (i’ve seen more) let’s say someone is 20 and the other is 23 (peril and turtles age gap) you wouldn’t think twice about how at one point one was graduating before the other. the problem comes when, say a 15yr is in a relationship with someone who is 30yr. in that scenario, ones brain is not fully developed and the other is taking advantage of that (the brain becomes fully developed at around 25) But the 23 and 20yrs brains are still not fully developed, and that means if they were in a relationship beforehand and the 23yr becomes a 25yr, would they have to break up for the 3yrs until the other got to 25? generally no, especially in that case, they’re maturity level is the would be the same. I think it’s matter if opinion, but once a person reaches an age we’re the brain is fully developed, who’s stopping them from being in a relationship with whomever they want? That would be considered consent. Plus you see old and young couples all the time (and i mean the both consenting adults) they aren’t hurting anyone by loving who the want. And if’s this still isn’t clear; the difference between what i said above, and an underage relationship, is that the adult (brain full developed) is preying on a child, who’s brain is not fully developed. In most, if not all cases the child does not want to be in that situation. But if say a teen starts to like someone who is the consenting age, waiting to be in a relationship until the teen is the consenting age would be okay, since the older person wouldn’t be taking advantage of the young and naive nature of a teen if they wait to until the teen is fully developed.
My least favorite ship in WoF is A tie between Anemone X Tamarin and Clearsight X Darkstalker. I don’t like Anemone X Tamarin since it felt a lot like filler and they never interacted before Anemone told Turtle her crush on Tamarin. They also aren’t very cute and loving like Willow x Sundew or Listener X Clearsight. I feel that if they got in a relationship it would be abusive and Anemone would use Tamarin while Tamarin would be unable to fight back dont o the fact she is kinda an introvert. The other ship (Clearsight X Darkstalker) I could rant about a lot but the main reasons are as follow. Darkstalker forced Clearsight to see the positive futures which could of caused more damage to their relationship and lives if Clearsight did not realize. Darkstalker was also unhinged and lied to her on several occasions. Darkstalker was also controlling and never listened to Clearsights opinion.
In defence of Tamerin and anemone They probably didn’t interact much cause tui didn’t want homophobes to flood her /shrug I mean they only revealed it in the goddamit EPILOGUE of the last book it just feels like this ship was hidden as much as possible And at least the book didn’t pride themself on a relationship that isn’t straight, tui could of made anemerin into a token gay ship but no, the ship is only referenced once in the series and never again, that’s it
I'm a Cleril fan and I honestly can't deny your opinion about the ship. I like the ship for the cuteness between the two characters. However, I can understand that the ship is one-sided; Clay is too obvious because of his kind nature and I like that.
Personally, I'm a Cleril shipper but I feel like it's okay for you to have a different opinion. Sunnyflight didn't make the cut for a similar reason because Starflight told Sunny he loved her, but she didn't love him back. Clay may only love Peril as a friend but doesn't show proof of having a crush on her. As for Pertle, I don't necessarily agree with it but I am starting to get annoyed about people eating each other alive over ships they either agree or disagree with. I think Clay has the same problem I do- we show love and kindness to everyone until we have reason not to. Often times, the people we show that care to are people who will latch on to it because other people in their lives aren't being that much needed source of comfort and acceptance. He's trying to help Peril by showing her that people can still love her and that Scarlet was wrong. "You have friends now. You have me." was, like you said, not necessarily meant to be a romantic thing. He was just trying to reassure her that he, along with others, were always going to be there for her. It's definitely not one of the best ships, but there are worse. Anything involving Darkstalker is automatically at the bottom lmao. You should do a review on Snowfox x Snowflake. Genuinely curious about your thoughts on it with how you went into Peril x Clay
Look, Glorybringer is worse than any other ship. As far as I can tell, Peril and Turtle were only shipped together because they were together at the beginning of book 8, I don't think the idea of them being in a relationship ever crossed Tui's mind once before people started shipping the two. Whereas Glorybringer was meant to be canon from the start, despite the fact that WOF dragons are fully aged at 7. Deathbringer first appears when all 5 dragonets (Including Glory) are close to 6, and Deathbringer is 12. Deathbringer knew that Glory was a child because his orders described Glory as a dragonet.
My mom was 16 when my parents got married and they have a 7 Year age difference I don't think there age difference is a big deal but you can like whatever you want and if you don't like the ship then that's your business
I love the way you explain the relationship between Clay and Peril, and I agree with a lot of points you make! Although I don’t personally ship them, I don’t think it’s the worst ship ever, there’s a few out there that are a whole lot worse. I don’t ship Turtle and Peril either, mostly because Peril is 8 (an adult) and Turtle is 5 (a dragonet). I think they are really good friends though, and they do care about each other. The best way to improve your current audio besides buying a condenser microphone would be using protools or another DAW/Editing Software to assign a low pass and noise gate to your video. This would cut out all ambient sound and natural reverb which would help if you are only using a headset mic. It's a fantastic solution despite the heavy learning curve. As far as the video goes. You provided several strong criterion that establish a solid basis for your argument. The fact that Clay completely breaks character and leads Peril on in the book 10 epilogue is something I never considered. I do agree that Turtle and Peril are better suited for each other, however, the insertion of another arbitrary relationship into the WoF universe would be deleterious to the quality of Talons of Power and Escaping Peril, as it might create another Ripnami situation (and we all know how awful that is). In addition, if Turtle and Peril did get together in book 8/9, Peril and Clay's entire dynamic would be ruined. Despite this, I could definitely see Turtle and Peril being a ship in a potential future. As a whole, I don't really think Cleril is one of the worst ships, simply because of how well they complement each other's personalities (similar to Sundew and Willow). There are definitely far worse ships out there.
I really love peril and turtle… their interactions with eachother is adorable, even though they like other people who doesn’t have feeling for them. I think maybe Peril should try communicating with other people more, knowing that there are other people who can be nice for her, like clay. Turtle is definitely a great help to make her interactions with people better. I hope peril is able to get over with the crush cause clearly they aren’t meant together (honest opinion), Clay finally knows that she loves him even though he sometimes get uncomfortable around it. I’m glad he is being nice and gentle to her, but idk if the ship is cannon. Brushing each others wings doesn’t all mean love I’m pretty sure it can be use for calming other dragons down or making them a bit more comfortable.
Personally, I do not support the Turtle/Peril because how would they make contact? such as, putting talons of each others sholders, or even just simply accidently touching each other. Another thing is, how she said they are similar. They really sort of are.... not. Although she does describe that they both have powers in which other people can manipulate them, one lives in the ocean, the other doesn't like water, one is a person who got trained to kill and is sort of extroverted ( not as much now that I say it ), and one is extremely introverted. The age gap is also big, I know not as big as the Glorybringer one but 3 years is sort of a lot. Also, Kinkajou is more likely to end up with Turtle. Again, Take no offense to this, It is just my opinions on this.
I agree because clay and peril make more sense because first of all the age gap between turtle and peril are unbelievable a dragonet and a teen don't fit and clay and peril actually support each other I feel like cleril is a better fit
I agree but I see why people ship clay and peril! They had many scenes where there could be a romantic connection such as in the graphic novel when peril catches clay in her arms so it would sort of make sense to ship them! But what happened in the books sort of shows that there isn't really a connection and that they wouldn't end up together. This video really makes me think about characters and who they're shipped with. This definitely makes sense.
I agree, peril and turtle would make a great ship as turtle is an animus and can simply enchant himself to be able to touch peril or be immune to fire.
I agree so much with this video. I love peril and she is one of my favorite characters, but I always felt like turtle would be a better companion for her than clay. Also none of clays friends seem to like peril that much, which means if they did get together it would be uncomfortable for everyone. Like tsunami. Also Kinkajou and turtle felt so random and weird.
while i'm not gonna get into the age-gap (though i also see that as an issue), i still dislike both cleril and pertle. i never really got anything from reading that could be read as romantic, and honestly the ship feels like fans fangirling over a character breathing at another (referring to pertle if anyone got confused)

I like the points you made, I think that cleril is good tho, I would not call it the worst ship ever but it’s not the best ship, different ships have different romantic or aromantic dynamics to them, such as two dragons in romance or one crush relationship, I personally don’t ship turtle with anyone, except mabey Qibli, but don’t kill me for that. Anyway, the only problem with pertle is that fact that they cant physically be together, considering peril is firescales and animus magic has been erased. Overall great vid, loved it, super entertaining!
Tbh I kinda agree, I have shipped this before but I've eventually realized it just doesn't work. Though I think Peril's reaction to Clay is normal-ish, he's pretty much the only dragon who was honestly kind to her and also the only dragon she can touch, those are 2 important things she never experienced in her whole life. Hell it's even possible she didn't have a crush on him at all, it would have been great if this was adressed later on cause Clay is kind to EVERYONE and he treated her just like any dragon, which sure was something she never had someone do before so I don't blame her for reacting that way but this whole ship is so little thought out.
As a Cleril shipper, i disagree with this video, but respect your opinion. First, I don't believe that Peril will get over Clay mostly because he was the first dragon that wasn't trying to use her and it wouldn't be like Peril to give up that bond when she makes more friends. I also really don't like Peril x Turtle (again, i respect your opinion and don't want to seem rude) and that's because I feel that even though they're good friends, I don't see any romance between them. I did find it a little cute at first, but the friendship between Clay and Peril is a lot stronger. I think what made me really like Cleril is in the scene in book 5 when Peril rushes to heal Clay's wound. I was really worried and thought it was just adorable how Peril came to help him. I hope that in the wof tv series they will solve this and be able to help better explain this so people stop fighting.

Excuse me for sounding like a hater, but Clay was the first dragon to be nice to Peril, who showed her empathy. Clay did eventually see why Peril loved him. As for it not making sense, why tf doesn't it? Peril worked extremely hard to change for Clay. So why shouldn't Clay love her?
I’m not going to be mean about this, your video actually did make sense, but I’d like to say why Cleril would work. #1 Clay is pretty much the only dragon who can have physical contact with her, anybody else would be burned to a crisp #2 clay actually was aware about her crush on him after Starflight and Tsunami told him. He’s just waiting until she can learn to control herself so they can be together #3They’re the same age as well, so Turteril wouldn’t work very well because of their age gap #4 Clay is the only dragon Peril actually wants to be with, she sees Turtle as just a very close freind (not to mention she felt betrayed by him after they blamed her to be the talons of power and fire) #5 Scarlet always told her that nobody loved her exept Scarlet, so when Peril thought she’d forever be lonely, she met Clay and she desperately wanted him to be with her #6 at the end of book 10, Clay actually thought they could be together, because he knew she sacrificed her loyalty to Scarlet. So he trusted her and decided it was time they could be together (Again this is no offense to you, you’re video was amazing but I just wanted to let you know.)
I ship cleril because peril in book one says "The others can have any dragon they want, I only want you clay I only want you!" Atleast I think she says that plus color theme is good

The only thing about Clay x any DoD is that Tsunami’s book said that she had a crush on Clay for a bit before she realized that he only saw the others as siblings. Other then that, it’s not a bad ship, and it could happen if Clay didn’t see them as family. Same goes for the other DoD, minus Starflight’s crush on Sunny. They’re a big happy family c:

Sorry but no. The ships should stay the same. In fact, i bet that tui ment for clay and peril to be together. All of the dragonets of destiny have a ship except sunny, but tui has someone planned for her, she just doesn’t know how they will meet. The clayril ship was most likely intended, and even if not, there are people that like the ship
Also everyone is saying that this friendship stuff Clay keeps doing is also what Turtle does. Peril remembers Turtle first thing when she was under a spell- mainly because she forgot Clay but could remember some others. You see, Turtle tried too come rescue her in book 8 when she was under a spell but he would do that to all his friends if he needed to. Turtle is actually allowing Peril to follow him around and eavesdrop on everyone with him even though she is terrible at it. He is one of the only people to support her during the books because Clay is always busy with teaching. Your video on Turtle x Kinkajou I agree on. Turtle x Peril is perfect not only for the storyline its also because I'm pretty sure multiple people would want to see a Skywing-Seawing Hybrid.
ok so what I'm thinking is that yes we all know peril is in love with clay and I can see where your coming from but what about the scene when Darlkstalker reads Clays mind and see's that clay is actually in love with someone? alright so i came back to this video to re-comment. i personally think pertle isnt a good ship. this is only because of the age gap, i think they would be fine if turtle wasnt a literal dragonet, therefore i find my liking in perunny. perunny seems stable enough if peril invested more into sunny and realized that they are both kinda the same! idk, just thought i'd comment back to realize how odd of a ship i find pertle to be.
Cleril is not a bad ship because that’s how the story line will go in the future books? Also what about Kestrel? even though she died in book 2 she did treat Peril like a normal dragon but the fact that Queen Scarlet told her lies about Kestrel just didn’t wanna do it though so she had to give up Peril, she didn’t wanna kill Peril but then once they reunite in the end of book 1 Kestrel is saying that Scarlet was feeding her poison food Kestrel is actually not treating her like a “murder weapon” so yeah…
