This era of mainstream music wasn’t very good but at least it had a distinct personality, unlike the 2020s which so far has just been the “songs that remind you of better songs” era
@@gx1tar1er Absolutely, I hate the 80s pop revival less than the pop punk revival (not saying much) but it still got stale so fast. It was especially sad seeing The Weeknd go from one of the coolest pop stars of the modern age to just Chasing that 80s revival trend
@@theguyfromthehomesickcover6512 i did notice that mainstrram music has gone backward when Travis Scott's music from 2015 still sounds more fresh/modern than MGK pop punk. Just only Travis imagery doesn't fit with 2022. In my opinion, Covid is one of the reason to blame for this.
@@gx1tar1er I’m not the biggest fan of it either but in my opinion the only somewhat lively or interesting thing going on in mainstream music at the moment is the “rage rap” scene popularized by Playboi Carti and Yeat
I will always associate Old Town Road with my young cousins who were a huge fan of the song but were no longer allowed to listen to it once their super conservative, Christian parents found out that Lil Nas X is gay.
BRUH, WHAT ABOUT "IN FRIENDS WE TRUST" BY CNCC? came out in 2010 an absolute fucking 2010s BANGER! also glad to see fancy on there complete vindication for me when it came i out i told my wife it was a cool song and her words were "umm are you fucking joking"
I liked the video too quickly. I worked at a cardboard box factory for nearly a decade and now I feel attacked. Finn, to quote you back at you, "You fuckin butthole."
7:10 I can only HOPE that 'Mo bounce' will be among the Iggy Azalea songs you will play further into the video, otherwise you'll be in deep trouble, Mr. McKenty! Because that song S L A P P ! ! Edit: I'm disappointed. Just disappointed. That's all I want you to know.
Five Finger Death Punch is the but-rock of metal. I work at a summer venue and the last concert was FFDP as a headliner with Megadeth and The Wu going on before them. FFDP was probably the worst and a few people left after Megadeth's set.
dude the IE, san B, bro ho , "lets go to glamis", metal mulisha chicks are such a regionally specific reference. And yeah, they were hot - but I think I'm glad they're gone now if I'm honest.
5SOS are not that bad. I mean I have a clear bias as a massive stan of theirs but their music is so good. I love SLSP although the video is kinda cringe looking back on it and kinda weird looking at the context and loads of their other songs are so amazing. I do not really care about them “muting” their Australian accents in their music even at that time because that stuff does not annoy me at all and it is just natural after living in another country for an amount of time over 6 months your accent would change naturally and super generic Aussie accents annoy the heck out of me anyway. Their new music is also very unique especially comparing it to their older stuff or even modern pop music. I think this take is mostly because of their mostly teen girl fandom and the fact that they are just mostly seen as vapid and all based on looks and the fact they are seen as a boy band which they are not btw. Most of their songs slapped back then and still slap nowadays and no, they are not bad, they are actually amazing, especially nowadays, I do not agree with your take at all, even though I agree with your take on SLSP.
@@KnivingDispodia Obviously dude meant he hates his other hits, he's a really bad person for not liking the gay stripper anti christian bait aesthetic I agree.
Bro You totally missed the whole point of Five Finger Death Punch- "Under and Over It" If You Heard this and that about me isn't from being picked on, it's saying if people want to form an opinion of him, from hearing about him from others and not from actually knowing him then fucc it im over it. The theme of the video is reflecting the songs meaning, which is all that flashy partying scene and lifestyle, strippers, fake ass people, and all that b.s. Isn't what anyone should model their lives after. And if anyone doesn't believe that then fucc it, they can have it all, I'll take my sanity, you take the fame, I'm Over IT. I Just feel like Finn was speaking about the video and song like it was portraying look at us constant party, pussy just everywhere, local UFC guy here, and flashy overabundance of everything, the pride of Las Vegas. when that song actually reflects Finns OWN Good Healthy Positive message about life.
5 seconds of summer killed it with that track and even the album. They were bringing rock back into the mainstream and I feel like they dropped the ball by going full pop. Would have loved to see them go deeper into a pop-punk direction maybe even add some screaming
Big facts! They never get the credit they deserve for bringing pop punk music back to mainstream and standing out from their piers, and this was waaaaaaaay before the trendy tiktok kids became punk lol
same, I think if they didn't open for one direction, they would've gone heavier. I remember seeing a video from one of their stories, it was just a joke, but the drummer was doing some hardcore screams in she looks so perfect and it sounded really good despite it being a joke. His screams sounds like Jeremy McKinnon. Their lead guitarist also has a really nice voice for pop punk and maybe the bassist.
Their new album is actually pretty good. They've gone kind of indie rock but you can hear a bit of their pop punk influences. I honestly really suggest listening to their new album, it's extremely different from what they've done and it's way better than their last 2 albums, has a lot more heart and less studio pop influence, aside from like 2 songs. I recommend staying away from their singles
@@Woooooooap I don’t really think opening up for 1D did it because SLSP and their debut album came out after the tour, I think it was the media constantly labeling them as a boy band and the genre (not the artist) of pop punk not accepting them. They should’ve played Warped and a lot of other rock festivals but instead they invite MGK years later smh
@@Woooooooap and I agree, the album is actually really great! The singles are actually my least favorite songs from it and I feel like they should’ve chosen better singles from the album
My 53yr old dad thinks ACDC is one of the greatest bands of all time, and listens to Five Finger Death Punch. I feel like that's the only argument I need to make as to why FFDP is peak cringe and doesn't hold up.
She Looks So Perfect is SOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD!!! With GREAT production and VERY CATCHY chorus!!! And I think the music/the guitar groovy sound in the music video is even more obvious, which makes it SOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD btw!!!
Ouch, I was just listening to some beautiful Editors' acoustic live performances and 90s R.E.M. , and suddenly you hurt my ears with Five Finger Death Cringe. Hurts my ears and soul.
Dude, I feel about Iggy the way that you feel about European HC, i.e. inauthentically replicating the sound and aesthetic of someone else's culture in an entirely unoriginal and uninspired way. But also kinda racist...
Iggy seems more ignorant to the actual authenticity of hip hop and Black culture, but I wouldn't say she's racist, but the music market is. It's easier for a white artist to pull from black culture, and the music execs love it and will promote it to death. I don't know if she grew up around the Black community in Australia or if she just loved Nicki Minaj and wanted to be the White version of it. She's got a ton of sex appeal cuz she was a stripper, so the markets will use that to their advantage. She used to date Nick Young the basketball player, and then she dated Playboi Carti, and Playboi left her when she got pregnant.
I don't know what happened in the 2010s, suddenly everything, whether it was pop, rap, rock became god awful (with a few exceptions), happy to see this decade is becoming more promising for music in general
I think mostly why Lil Nas X got kicked off the country charts was not so much that he was black, but because it sounded like rap and too "urban". (Darius Rucker from Hootie and the Blowfish charted on there a lot when he did solo country stuff. He went #1 on the Country Charts 5 times).
I work at a cardboard box warehouse and the level of accuracy you had on listening to Five Finger Death Punch through a shitty 7-11 speaker is haunting.
No true country fan wanted that song to be a "country" hit because it's just straight up not country. Trap beats and everything else make it not country. And what about Darius Rucker. One of the best country singers in recent memory and everybody in country loves his music.
@@dynamicphotography_ does sound fantastic, I do find it funny that these bands still scream the f-word and someone non-ironically thinks uesing that language makes the song edgy...I wan to ask them you do realize 13-15 years old is the only appropriate age to think the f-word is edgy?
You made the right decision in the direction of your content creation. Way more entertaining than MBA content and you look like you're having fun. PS. HOW DARE YOU SAY LIL NAS X WAS ABOUT RACE! I LIKE COUNTRY, AND I AM NOT A RACIST! THERE ARE SOME GOOD ONES, LIKE DARIUS RUCKER AND CHARLIE PRIDE!
Darius Rucker has spoken about how much pushback he got initially and still does in certain markets over being black. He was the first black artist to top those charts since charlie pride did it in 1983. Cowboy Troy had a co-sign from Big and Rich, yet, would have police escorts to shows over death threats.
@finnmckenty have you heard like a farmer from Lil Tracy? There's even a version featuring Lil Uzi Vert. That's so much better, imo, than old country road
While I agree that Spotify is bigger than SiriusXM, Spotify operates internationally and has subscribers all over the globe, while Sirius only operates with the United States. Should at least compare their userbase within the US and not world wide.
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA Definitely agree. Though SiriusXM doesn't really have a "chance" to operate globally with all the other radio stations around the world. Why should a person from Europe for example use a foreign radio when they potentially don't even speak english, considering it's usually the older generation listening to radio and it's also the older generation that often doesn't speak English very well.
5SOS is good, they just fell off on the 1st album as this was on the final waves of scene that time. I think only All Time Low was holding on during that time.
