You should thank your father for keeping you from doing something stupid. Never ever and I mean Never ever get someones name tattooed on your body. Not your wife or girlfriend because you don't know if you are going to be together next week let alone 10 years from now. Also don't get one while drinking. And if you must have one go to a professional not someones brother down the street that's always fucked up on drugs.
I don't have a problem with people getting spouses names tattooed on them. Kind of a bigger commitment at that point. That said, you can both cover up and have tattoos removed. It's really not as big a deal as that.

after seeing that guy with Brenda tattooed a bunch of times, I literally cringed. One thing my parents taught me about tattoos was that if you get a name of someone (unless it's a memorial tattoo) then it's going to bring a bunch of bad luck

I am planning on getting a tattoo; here's why. My heart is partly man-made using an ASD patch to hold back bloodflow between my two ventricles, which are the spaces in your heart that hold oxygenated and non-oxygenated blood. (It has been a long time since I have thought about that exact string of words, might be a little off, bare with me). But, as one of my loves of life, is being a mechanic and fixing things. Especially motorized things. The tattoo idea is to take an actual human heart with a part of it cut away. A little six-cylinder in it's place with the head removed, no headers on it either. Just the block and one piston showing at the top as if it had actual timing on it. The punch mark on the cylinder, really small, would have my birthday on it. That way people know that my heart is not entirely real, and they know my passion is anything engine. Anything. All the things. Simple, easy, great thing to show off at a party, the whole nine yards without looking like an ass.

My uncle is a tattoo artist and people ask for weird stuff He's tattooed Surprised Patrick on someone's chest, and one person got Agent Mulder and Agent Scully tattooed huge on both legs
