My blood pressure was horrible and I was on BP meds for 25 years. July 20, 2022 I gave up sugars, bad carbs, seed oils, processed food. Within a month I was able to toss all meds!!! My BP has run 116/65 (69 pulse) ever since. I was amazed. My weight dropped 30 lbs in a year. I am now 115 lbs at 5’ 5”. I am 76.5 years

In Europe blood pressure readings are never taken at the Dr's office because it does not reflect your true blood pressure. Just commuting to the drs office and thinking about what will happen elevates BP. Instead, in Europe you take your own blood pressure readings at home when you are in a relaxed state.

Exactly 👍, America is a scam because of Health Insurance and Pharmaceutical companies. It’s getting harder and harder to find or afford a private/independent family doctor who is NOT part of a hospital or corporate medical group. Today, you probably get better healthcare treatment outside the USA compared to 30-40 years ago before Government intervention!

White coat effect... *MY* doctor absolutely DID step out of her office for about 5-10m specifically to allow me to do some relaxation and settle down and it totally worked! BP went down a huge amount to the 'normal' levels I see at home. So awesome when a doctor _gets it_ and works with and for the patient. Kudos to the doctors at One Medical in San Francisco!

I experience anxiety before going to the white coat to get my inhaler refilled each year. Last appt BP was high. I told her that is because I experience anxiety before comming in to the "clinic" I asked her to retake it in 10 minutes. She left the room and came back in with a machine that reads 3 readings in a row and they take the average. It was fine. That was with her doing it IMMEDIATELY after taking it the first time, not even waiting. The nurses are worse than the so called "Dr's" who "practice" medicine. Sickening.

I experience white coat syndrome. My doctor told me to take a few minutes to think about relaxing on a beach. I thought about a serene mountain setting instead, but it worked! Then she told me that I would need meds, as I could not practice relaxation like that all the time at home or at work. I had explained that there were some extraneous circumstances for several months, family events that are stressful. She insists that those issues were irrelevant. She insists that I need meds at my age. Not yet.

I do believe that you opened my eyes, as to my problems! I’ve been carnivore for the last 3 months, and have gotten rid of the water in my feet & legs! I started this diet to get rid of gout in my feet! I haven’t had another gout attack since! I also lost 25 lbs, and 6 inches off my waist! For a 77 year old man, that’s 100% disabled, and stuck in an electrical recliner, I think it’s remarkable improvement! Unfortunately, I’m fighting my wife, because she believes I’m killing my self! I’m pretty determined on my goals, and gout is a great motivator, so I’m sticking with this diet, especially for the holidays! Thanks for the enlightenment. Happy birthday 🎂🎊🎈🎉🎁

I’ve been bingeing watching your teaching and following your advice from how to lower carbs, changing lifestyle, to how to do intermittent fasting for the past three months. Even though I wasn’t doing really strict keto, just cutting down carbs, sugars, seeds oil and increased exercise. I managed to lose some weight and lowered my A1c back in the normal ranges. I’m happy that my family is also joining me in lowering carbs and intermittent fasting. Yes, we all got dark pink on the ketone strips too. Keep doing what you’re doing. Keto on.

This is my first visit to your site. I've subscribed. I recently developed isolated systolic hypertension. My doctor and I have agreed to increase my Losartan from 75 mg to 100 mg and I'm agreeing to take metformin since my blood glucose suddenly went out of control and my diet and non prescription supplements weren't enough. In recent years I've become very interested in the biochemistry of health extension, life extension, and age reversal. My doctor thinks I'm nuts for taking over 100 different supplements a day but all of them are molecules I've researched and watch their development. I get a med check every 3 months. I'm a 75 year old male. Supplements have made the muscles in my limbs large and strong without any exercise. My senses are still fine and acutely sensitive. My mind is very active having a vast number of interests that keep me busy every day. I have what I found out is a sigma personality and don't mind living alone since my sister passed away 6 years ago. I never get lonely. Aldosterone secreted by the adrenal cortex controls the sodium potassium ratio. Losartan causes the excretion of potassium and so is combined as a potassium salt. Several years ago my sister tested low for sodium. She had other problems such as sleeping. One day someone got her to try cannabis as an extract heated in butter. It seemed to work so I decided to find out why. It stimulates the production of dopamine. She had been treated with serotonin and serotonin reuptake inhibitors and they didn't work. Wrong neurotransmitter. So I researched humans synthesis of dopamine. Phenylalanine and essential amino acid sold commercially as Aspertame the sweetener in diet soda is normally catilized to tyrosine with the hormone phenylalanine hydroxylase. There are over 100 variants of PKU where this hormone is anywhere from not sufficiently effective to absent. Tyrosine is converted to L-Dopa which is converted to dopamine. So I went to a health food store and bought tyrosine and it worked. So caffeine free diet soda increases dopamine and PCO2. BTW, there's a polyphenol in the rinds of lemons and limes that will reduce blood glucose by up to 11 percent. You'd need a microplane zester to scrape it off. It's not sold so far so you have to DIY.

I have heard from a dr who well, went to med school also, and he explained how your BP top number should be 100 + your age. The heart ages as you do. Expecting a 62 year old like me to have the BP of a teenager is insane. He also quoted from a study that showed that those with high BO and really high BP, well, they lived longer on average than those who took meds, abs all of the BP meds damage the kidneys which regulate the blood pressure. I had an uncle who had a BP of 250 over 150 when I was 21. His Dr told him That was normal for him. He lives to be in his 80’s but not until the old dr passed away and a new dr put him on meds that killed his kidneys. I am 62, and I have had high BP since my teens. It runs in my family. I now have kidney disease due to the meds given me. But here is the huge kicker. Not a single DR even looked for the CAUSE of my high BP. They just shoved pills down my throat and said see you in 6 months. So I am putting it lightly when I say I do not trust today’s DR’s.

I agree that blood pressure should go up as you age, but 250/150 is crazy high and can cause organ damage. You say your kidneys are shot due to the meds, but its due to the high blood pressure.

@meagiesmuse2334 5 месяцев назад
I was also told that, but I have other problems that cause sudden spikes to 240/120, so I am on 3 meds. The cardiologist told me that sudden spikes are far more dangerous than consistently high pressure. When my BP is "normal", I am so dizzy I can't do anything. I've been Paleo for years and exercise 6 X week. He also told me when the bottom number stays too high then you will need some help, but pulse pressure is also important and shouldn't be over 100. Pulse pressure is the difference between the 2 numbers.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Boz! I appreciate you. I had 8 vials of blood taken last week. All of the results came back better than they have been in years. I am having some stomach issues with burning when I eat, so my doctor took me off Metforman and a pain pill. Now, I'm waiting for an upper GI appointment. I've lost 30 pounds since September, too. I've tried for 30 years to lose weight with no prior luck. I'm doing Keto and continuous glucose monitoring.

It’s ridiculous how the medical profession, no doubt influenced by pharmaceutical companies, who finance the studies, keeps lowering the number of what they consider hypertension. Our BP goes up as we age as a protective mechanism. How many grandpas are falling due to BP meds. Everyone now has high BP and take meds. One study doesn’t confirm their argument. If they were truthful they would say everyone should quit carbs instead of popping a pill.

Sorry, but this is just a fairy tale people use to soothe themselves and avoid the lifestyle changes needed to improve their health. Take the meds to get your BP down fast. But then do the work of improving sleep, stress management, low-carb diet (with lots of leafy greens), and exercise to get yourself off the meds. I’m 74 and my BP is 104/65. No meds. You think my doctor is disappointed?

Depending on where the salt is mined from the ground or from the sea it has sodium and different minerals. Table salt is processed and has additives. Unprocessed salt sticks together, processed salt comes in little balls. Your nerves system uses sodium and other parts of your body. Your kidneys flush excess sodium or recycles it back into your bloodstream as needed.

I’m 62 and weighed an average of 185+ pounds for few years. Due to BP of 135+ over 85+, I was on Irbesartan 300 mg and 50mg Metoprolol for infrequent AFib. About 2 months ago, I had a TIA that scared the crap out of me. I was prescribed Eliquis and Atorvastin to prevent future strokes. I drastically changed my diet and cut out my carbs, sugared drinks, and snacks. I’ve lost at least 15 lbs. and my BP dropped as low as 95/55 during rest. My Irbesartan was reduced to 75mg and Metoprolol reduced to 25mg because my pulse dropped in the 50s from the 70s. My BP now averages about 105/65.

Age 72. Took my BP at 0730 this morning, at rest an hour after finishing breakfast. Reading: 99/75, normal for me. My "upper" number tends to swing between 90 and 115. I generally feel no ill effects unless the "upper" number drops into the 80s, which happens on occasion, thankfully not often. Complicating the matter, I'm on Propranolol, normally taken to lower BP. In my case, it is an effective migraine preventative. Not perfect, but used in combination with food-trigger avoidance I tend to get no more than two, maybe three, attacks in a sixth-month period. Over the years I've reduced Propranolol dosage from 60mg twice a day to what it is now: 40mg once a day three days a week + 20mg once a day four days a week. Thus far this reporting period I've not had a single migraine! I've tried several times to further reduce dosage to 20mg once per day every day of the week. This proved to be a step too far, sad to say. How much Propranolol does or doesn't reduce my BP, I've no idea. It being effective at what it is prescribed for and me not noticing any ill effects at my "normal" BP (with rare exceptions), I'm not thinking to abandon it. Oh yeah, Happy B-day!

Potassium is not emphasized enough. We have seen studies draw strange correlations with arrhythmias and the ketogenic diet. I believe this is due to low potassium intake over years in conjunction with the pro inflammatory effects of aldosterone. I had a terrible reaction to calcium channel blockers. I have no thyroid or parathyroid due to cancer. (As a result, even taking daily calcium supplements I am still regarded as hypocalcemic.) Shortly after my dr precribed calcium channel blockers entire body locked up on several occasions, I was completely unable to move, even to use a phone. It was also very painful like a full-body cramp. I could hardly breathe, I thought I was dying. It happened on a train when I was with my toddler and luckily passengers alerted the driver who got the ambulance. The paramedics told me it was a "panic attack". When it happened a few days later at home, my husband told me "it's just a panic attack" - I was literally lying on the floor asking him to call help for help. After a few such episodes my doctor changed my prescription to coversyl. I have recently discovered dietary info like this and am aiming to reduce my med intake.

Potassium is in vegetables and fruits mostly. By going carnivore you are depriving yourself of nutrients your body evolved on for millennia (unless you are of Inuits or Eskimos and alike ancestry). I eat a generally balanced diet, full of carbs, but also eat greens and fruits (more carbs) and my BP is low and even had a little higher potassium level a few years ago. I always had a lower BP. Blood glucose control is also great.

My temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure have been low for decades, but with very high blood oxygen. In my early 60s my blood pressure became too low. Adding salt to my nutrition brought it up into the normal range. I've been going for walks after eating meals as long as I can remember. The athlete Stan Efferding explains that this moves sugar from blood into the big muscles in the legs, hips, and lower torso, where it belongs. Building muscle and using muscle improve storage of carbohydrates safely out of the bloodstream.

But I’m still so disappointed in myself for the choices I’ve made since my 20’s… all of these health issues could have been prevented in my case, for the most part anyway. Does anyone else beat themselves up over preventable diseases they’ve brought upon themselves? I know it doesn’t help or change anything, but I just can’t help but to blame myself because I absolutely knew better. Now I’ve gotten myself into quite a mess with my health status & taking 6 Rx medications. 🤦🏼‍♀️😞

As I understand it the actual cause of hypertension is not the increased blood sugar itself but the increased Insulin. If your blood sugar goes from 5 mg/dl to say 7 mg/dl that is about an extra 70 mg total in your whole blood circulation that's enough to draw in an extra say 1ml of fluid hardly significant.Insulin can increase blood pressure via several mechanisms: increased renal sodium reabsorption, activation of the sympathetic nervous system, alteration of transmembrane ion transport, and hypertrophy of resistance vessels. It also inhibits the action of Nitrous Oxide. So yes if you lower your blood sugar BP goes down but it is because you are lowering insulin not glucose. Young type I diabetics with high glucose and low insulin do not typically get hypertension.

look,.. I have just started watching this video so your comment appeared and caught my attention,.. I did not want to write but when I read you wish to have the energy and you still count on doctors to get your health back, I decided to share this with you ,.. I am 43, being hypertension patient at least since 2010 and figured out that I am T2D since 2021 that I am apparently sometime before. last March, I started Keto with no previous knowlege, no one helped even when I sought a professional help found none. I only used the internet, google and youtube. my last A1C is 5.3 and I don't take any Hypertension medication now, as during the journy I experienced a sudden drop of my hypertention. I didn't expected that but it seems that losing weight and healthy food led of fixing my blood pressure which was not in my target list that I didn't expected and was not prepared for ! otherwise I would have monitored my BP to avoid the drop I experienced !! be prepared to get rid of your medication once you lose +/- 15 Kg of your weight "it depends on your current weight". the good news is that, those +/-15 Kg are usually the most easy kilos to lose, they are mostly water !!,.. once you stop carbs, and decrease the amount of salt intake in a day to less than 1g, walk to not less than an hour or two if not daily at least every other day. you will be someone else in 45 up to 60 days. but keep on monitoring your BP and blood sugar as well as consult your doctors very often as the change will be very quick and immediate. "Allah willing". wish you the best.

This is absolutely true as I found it out when I started to cut back on all carbohydrates. I was amazingly surprised when I saw my stubbornly high blood pressure dropped from 140 to less than 120! I didn't really follow any keto diet but just reduced my intake of carbohydrates.

I have secondary hypertension. Can you speak of that. My blood pressure doesn't respond to meds .

If my systolic Bp was reduced to the teens, I would be cold, lethargic, listless, and subject to falling! It just isn’t normal, for some people, to have that low of blood pressure! And note nature raises the Bp with age- it is NORMAL to have “elevated” blood pressure with age.

Yea and they have you remove your shoes and coat and get weighed. Then put shoes back on and go into room and immediately slap the cuff on your arm. OF COURSE YOUR BP is going to be high. I won't accept it and make them retake it. I get anxiety just going to the white coat because I am sick of them trying to force this test and that test on you. Insurance wants this done BUT YET.....only cover minimal for dental!!!! When dental is directly related to health. I confront insurance companies with this every time they tell me to make a home visit for a "wellness" check. I tell them if they cared so much they wouldn't allow infected teeth in my mouth and they would cover it.
